Worst experience I ve ever had with barbecue. I ordered the $38 dinner with brisket and tri-tip and two sides (steak fries and Mac n cheese) on Ubereats tonight. With tax and tip it came to $49. It arrived with massive fries heaped on top of just four half slices of tri tip and six small charred pieces of brisket - I called the store and they told me to drive there and they would remake it. But when I got there, one of the guys met me at the door with an extreme attitude and told me that what I got is less meat because it s UberEats(?) And then told me that barbecue is expensive as he walked around the restaurant in an angry huff. The guy who made the food offered to re-make it but that other guy was still acting pissed off. So I told them to just keep it! And I left. I m a Texan- born and raised and this food and service was despicable. They shouldn t offer UberEats if they are going to do a half-ass job and then talk to you like that.

Probably the worst BBQ ive had in the LA area. Ribs were dry and tough. BBQ sauce was just weird, the White BBQ sauce just tasted like mustard. Fries had no salt or seasoning. The tortillas were bizarre, very thick and hard. Brisket was very low quality. Sausage had no snap, tasted old and really salty. Wouldnt recommend this place.

Stopped by today for lunch. I tried the brisket and pulled pork. Both were very tender and delicious. My cousin had the burrito which he really enjoyed. Cant wait to come by and try a few other things on the menu. Thanks AJs for filling our bellys

The BBQ sauce was way too acidic for me. I was hoping for something more sweet and/or smokey. I thought the ribs were tough and dry, but the brisket was cooked OK. The cornbread was great however. Overall this place is slightly below average in my opinion, and I have no plans of eating here again.

First, the service is amazing! He was so patient with all our questions as we navigated our way thru the menu. Second, the food is exceptional. My brisket sando, every bite a joy, loved the pickled onions. My husband couldnt speak high enough about his brisket burrito and baked chili beans. Only be aware that the Tex Mex part does mean it is a tad Vegetarian options: They have a couple of salads and the baked beans

Wow for the price this was subpar BBQ at best. The portions are super small. The flavor is bland like they are trying to appeal to people who dont eat seasoned food. I should have knew when I saw they make burritos too. Places that specialize in everything usually specialize in nothing. Ill go to Bludsoes next time for the same money the food is traditional BBQ and really does smack.

I recently placed my first order at this restaurant, and I have to say that I was quite disappointed with the experience. I ordered the ribs plate along with cole slaw and BBQ beans. Unfortunately, the cole slaw didnt taste fresh, so I couldnt eat it, and to make matters worse, the BBQ beans were missing from my order. I called the restaurant, and they said they couldnt do anything since it was placed through Uber and it was too far away.

For $28 dollars you would expect a little more flavor and quality. The baked beans had exactly zero flavoring, it tasted like it came straight out of the can without any type of seasonings. The half rack of ribs were mediocre At best. As someone who grew up in the Deep South, this the furthest thing from good BBq. This plate should have been $10 or less at best.

Awesome food. Expect very little dine in space - this is mostly a take out spot. Parking is in a lot at the rear, or some temporary spots out in front of the sidewalk

For $18 it is 1 meat and 3 sides. The sides were in containers 1 size up from sauce containers. I got 1 and a half slices of meat. Smaller than a childs portion. Ate it all except the beans in less than a minute. Left hungry. A whole brisket at Walmart is $60 and they charged me $18 for 1 and half small slices. Dont go. RIP off.

This was a really bad experience for me. I got the brisket, ribs, links and pulled pork. The pulled pork was absolutely terrible. It was bland with no seasoning. The links were good. The ribs had this odd smell to them but they taste good so maybe the rub. The brisket was good. The bbq sauce is really bad. It doesnt taste like a bbq. Im not coming back here.

Surprising flavor on ribs, briskets and pulled pork! Its not the typical ribs with super sweet barbecue sauce that it ends up making you cloving. Barbacue sauce is less sweet and a little bit acid but its really good.

AJs Tex-Mex Barbecue surpassed my expectations even though its a hole-in-the-wall spot. On my first visit, I ordered the Brisket Sando with a side of Mac n Cheese. that brisket sando was juicy and packed with flavor, making each bite a better reason to come back. The Mac n Cheese was good, but it couldve been warmer. Regardless it was tasty and paired well with the brisket. couldnt resist trying that street corn , It was bursting with flavor and added a nice touch to the meal . My only regret is not having enough room to try more plates . Next time, Ive got my eye on the baked potato with added Brisket AJs Tex-Mex Barbecue boasts a cozy ambiance that instantly makes you feel at ease. Dont judge a book by its cover the food here speaks volumes with its quality and flavor. Im already counting down the days until my next visit! I love places like these, unassuming on the outside with a warm and friendly atmosphere. Pam and Ram were super friendly and fun to talk to you, but lets get to the meat of the story.. I had the breakfast taco that should be known as the taco that just keeps getting better and better. First the tortilla. Insanely good, made in-house and one of the best flour tortillas Ive ever had. Then the scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly, not overdone whatsoever with the perfect amount of fluff one needs in scrambled eggs. The brisket was tender and juicy and smoky and flavorful and all the things that you want in brisket. Cotija and pico to round it out. Super generous portion and incredibly satisfying. Cant wait to come back and try everything else. Thank you guys!

AJs Tex-Mex Barbeque. The name is a bit long, but so is the flavor of the food they serve. For a medium-sized restaurant, its all kitchen. You can sit outside if you want, but its a south facing place, so you are liable to get burnt yourself (see pictures). Thank God for Pats on Laurel next door. AJs will deliver next door, and the Pats on Laurel will welcome lunch goers, provided they buy their drinks from the bar. Its not a hard rule, but its polite. Back to the food. AJs BBQ is only very fine. Its not perfect, but thats the problem with all BBQ restaurants. BBQ is meant to be eaten fresh out of the smoker, not just hot when you come in. Hot doesnt mean fresh, and my Mexican breakfast burrito was indeed hot, but the brisket inside, while tasty, wasnt fresh. I spent basic training in Missouri, trained in Texas, and lived in Kansas City, Little Rock, and Memphis. I know fresh BBQ. This was only 4 out of 5 stars. Too bad. We need a perfect BBQ joint in Valley Village, like the spectacular Bear Pit in Mission Hills. That place has (sorry to my good BBQ loving friends) the best darned BBQ anywhere in the world. I salivate just thinking about it. Youd have never guessed that Los Angeles is the BBQ capital of the world. For those without my experience, AJs BBQ will do very nicely. The brisket and pulled pork are tender, the pickled everything is fantastic, and the sides are groovy. Two and a half Thumbs Up. Parking: Free parking in the back, with handicapped spaces. Wheelchair accessibility: Fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The staff were kind and friendly, the restaurant itself is small but great for take out, and the portions were pretty good; however, the food was saturated with grease and it was pretty bland. I know that BBQ is greasy but this was beyond greasy for standard BBQ. I liked the tri tip, even though it was bland it was not as greasy and allowed me to add my own sauces for flavor.

I ordered the 2 Meat/2 sides meal through postmates. The restaurant forgot to put the two sides in the bag, even though it was Tuesday at 5:30pm, so not like a busy Friday or Saturday or anything, which shows me they dont care or that theyre just lazy. So after all of the fees for Uber, Postmates, etc. It cost over $50 for two bones of ribs and a small half of a chicken and I even had to pay for 4 extra slices of pickles. Dont order delivery from this place. If you cant pick up from the restaurant itself, Id recommend skipping this place.

The brisket is done right, something that s hard to find in California. The flavor of smoke, richness of the meat, and bark on the outside of it is a testament to it being real bbq. Wrap it up in a house made tortilla, with perfectly cooked eggs, tater tots, and spicy salsa and you got the best breakfast taco in LA. Hands down. Plus, there only 5 bucks. You can t even get a gallon of gas for that much and these will take you a whole lot further. Can t wait to try the rest of their menu.

Ordered a 4 meat combo on first visit, first issue was they would not let us get two orders of brisket? Never seen this before. Thankfully for us though the brisket was gross. Never gave the option for lean or fatty brisket they just give you the fatty version. Collard greens were made with tomato based broth which was unexpected and odd. Pulled pork was the only good part to that meal, so good it was the only thing I would order again in the future (Note their pulled pork was pulled and moist and lean, absolutely delicious). Today I was craving their pulled pork and ordered a half pound of it. Not only was It completely different pulled pork than before but it was now shredded And full of fat. It was also now tossed in their vinegar based North Carolina style sauce. This was a complete Let down and waste of my $. Could not even eat half of it before getting a head ache and having to throw it out. The inconsistency is misleading and to top it off I clicked add utensils as well as wrote a memo again asking for utensils and at pick up no utensils were added. Had to go back in and ask. The people are friendly but the inconsistency and quality are upsetting.

To start off with there Barbecue sauce taste nasty! And than the price that I paid for was to high to end up eating more fat than meat! The barbecue beans were nasty the only thing good was the Mac and cheese! Than I didn t even get a soda cuz it s $2.50 for a CAN OF SODA! So I think it s better to go somewhere else!

Best Tex-Mex Barbeque in the San Fernando Valley! Aside from their normal fare, they also now have pirouette and smoked pork belly! I encourage you to try it soon!

Brisket sandwich was on point and the Cole slaw was good. Balanced out the sweetness of the BBQ sauce. Would highly recommend.

They have the best meats, hands down but the side dishes do not measure up. The meat. It is why a person orders slow, smoked, cuts of beef and pork. This place does it right and continues to deliver. You will pay for it, but not that much more than expected for good barbecue. The sides are a sad story of pepper in places it does not belong. There may be a taste for it but most people will find it excessive for things like mac and chees or corn. Sadly the inclusion of this unnecessary seasoning will ward off diners from what are pretty good side dishes. If you want barbequed meats cooked right, with liberal sauce (the meat is so good you might not want it) come here and eat.

The price is high for what you get. Wings need better and more seasoning if you order them naked. Side orders are just not that good. Ribs were soft but too fatty. Brisket was ok. Gravy anyone? Small menu, no beef ribs :-(

I ordered spare ribs, hot links, potato salad and collard greens; all was good except the collard greens. The collard greens was seasoned well, but someone forgot to turn the fire on under the pot, it was raw and hard and not fit for consumption. If this is how you gonna serve collard greens, just remove it from the menu. But the potato salad was really good.

It is a pretty good place. Ive only had the nachos so far but looking forward to trying the rest. The nachos were pretty good, nothing too crazy and definitely more on the sweet side. The cheese itself is best piping hot because once it cools you get pools of grease and the cheese starts to break but good flavor and will definitely be back to try something else on the menu!

Solid Texas BBQ! Drove from Orange Country to get our first taste of Texas BBQ I didnt smoke myself since moving here. This place does not disappoint. Brisket had great flavor and a perfect amount of moisture. The roll of pink butcher paper on the wall tipped me off that it would be great. The sides are classic Texas BBQ, not gormet but definitely authentic. For anyone who hasnt had Texas BBQ this is a must, gotta have a piece of Moist brisket, dont forget to get a slice of white onion and pickles for the perfect bite. -Gig em

This is the joint that replaced Texas Best BBQ (which was my favorite BBQ place in the San Fernando valley). The meats are similar in quality, very good taste, but the quantity/size seems smaller. We did curbside pickup and it was very easy. Looking forward to seeing this restaurant feed its hungry neighbors with delicious barbecue meat!

Excellent food. The Brisket Chili is very substantial, and tasty. Get it with the frito pie option. Their brisket is also amazing, and the bbq sauce is to die for. Wonderful spot where they cook with passion.

Im sure this place has seen better days, but based on my visit I would never recommend this place. Place was fairly empty, but still ordered brisket and ribs. They came dry, and just barely to room temperature. The short ribs were the bandaid of the whole meal. Its unfortunate that they were not more professionally minded to avoid serving customers old inventory. Im sure if I ordered them when they were freshly made they would have tasted great, but instead they chose to serve my food old. I feel terrible about tossing food old or new, but as a paying customer (and the meat here isnt cheap!) I wish they paid better attention to quality consistency.

Had this saved a while, finally stopped by and left full af. Its a small spot with parking in the back. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Cool wooden tables. Got the BBQ Plate Brisket 1/3lb with Street Corn, Pulled Pork Nachos and a cold Dr Pepper. The nachos were thick & crunchy, loaded with lots of cheese, toppings, and big chunks of pork. Brisket was tender, flavored, and fell apart (I got the fatty meat). Corn was so tasty, mix it all up and enjoyed. I couldnt finish it all, but boy did I try! Will definitely swing by again sometime to try some other stuff.
