Currently favorite local spot for a classic breakfast! Love the turkey club with side of eggs and home fries. Also the French toast breakfast is 💣 . We'll definitely be back to try more items on the menu. Good coffee and friendly service. What else do you need?

This is a neighborhood Go-To breakfast spot so it will get crowded during peak times but the food is worth the wait. My wife always orders the Corn Beef Hash as not too many places serve it and I always go with the Veggie Omelet with everything on it. Their biscuits and gravy are some of the best in town. This is a family business that makes you feel like family when you walk in. They prefer if you pay cash to avoid the credit card fees so if possible, show up with cash.

June 2024 update: I returned to Scotty's. My experience this was not as good as last year. Customer service was still excellent and the food tasty. My concern was the hygiene. My knife was dirty on my table, glad I noticed before using, my coffee was not that fresh, the customers sitting next me asked their coffee to be replaced as it was not fresh, and my table was very sticky which is something you don't want to feel when eating. Like all food establishments, it cost money to eat out but you Scotty's give you bang for the buck as the food portions exceeded my expectations. The place could use an update, it's not run down but it's aging. Overall, good experience, family-owned business, and I plan to visit again.

Wow! What a fabulous experience. I had some time in between appointments and Scotty’s was recommended by a nurse at PIH Whittier Hospital. Breakfast was delicious, perfect portion at a reasonable if/fair price. Coffee was delicious. The staff is super friendly and very customer service oriented. I am definitely going back again (and again).

If you look up local family diner in the dictionary, this place would be the example! Awesome to see multiple customers hugging servers and staff as they enter and leave! I sat at the counter immediately and food was out in minutes! Waffle was good. Service was quick. In and out about 30 minutes! Wish I lived closer, as this would be my go-to diner!

It's very clear that the team here loves their work and sharing their food at the cafe.

The servings are huge and good quality. Overall flavor was a little bland, but we loved the experience so much we'll definitely be back and we highly recommend you give them a try.

Loved this little diner! Food was exceptional, service was great, friendly wait staff and ultra accomodating. On vacation in Cali, and Ill probably go back again! Parking: Parking was spacious, with handicap accessible spaces and to go pickup. Was in a small strip mall behind some shops behind the main street but need to go and experience.

June 2024 update: I returned to Scottys. My experience this was not as good as last year. Customer service was still excellent and the food tasty. My concern was the hygiene. My wife and I went to breakfast this morning at Scotties with my mother-in-law, and let me tell you, it was an experience we wont soon forget but not for the right reasons. If youre considering coming here for any kind of Mexican food, dont make that mistake. Their rice tastes like it comes from a microwaved bag, and the beans resemble Play-Doh pulled out of a can.When I asked for flavored creamer, they brought out some non-dairy artificial stuff that tasted like chemicals had been poured into my coffee. The standard American breakfast was just okay, but the Mexican dishes tasted like they were made by someone who has never had Mexican food in their life. But wait, it gets worse. As soon as our food arrived, and we had barely taken two bites, a giant roach crawled into our line of sight on the wall next to our table. I immediately flagged down the waitress, who freaked out and went to get one of the guys.What happened next was truly stomach-turning. A stocky man, who might have been the manager, came over, and with no urgency to remove or kill the roach, he casually told us, Oh, thats a little visitor from next door. The sushi restaurant has a vermin problem, and they come over here.Mind you, Ive been going to E-Sushi for years and have never encountered anything nasty there. This man went on to nonchalantly admit that this happens two to three times a week because the pest control at the sushi place drives the bugs over to Scotties. In essence, he admitted that Scotties has a roach problem several times a week! The appropriate response would have been an immediate apology, swift action to address the roach, and some form of compensation for our meal. Instead, we got indifference and excuses. And if you think it couldn t get worse, it did. After the manager grossed us out with his excuses, it took them a while just to get the roach off the wall. A guy with longish hair came with a cup and a paper coaster, presumably to catch and release the roach. But instead, the husky guy handed him a menu to slide under the cup the same menus their customers use! Needless to say, I will be messaging the health department and sharing my experiences with them. If you enjoy the thrill of possibly finding an antenna or a roach in your food, by all means, keep going to Scotties. As for us, we wont be back. This place needs to be shut down. Nasty.

Staff is wonderful. They are ALL really friendly, helpful & professional. Service is also very good. Their coffee was excellent. It was not burnt or bitter. My omelet was a little overcooked, but everything else was fine.

First thing I noticed was the waiter, didnt look very groomed. His apron was filthy, wrinkled black tshirts. Ordered the meatloaf, wasnt good at all. The mash potatoes were good and the ice tea, was freshly made. I wont be returning.

As always, Scottys Family Restaurant is our favorite go-to spot for breakfast, brunch, and lunch! The food is served hot and to your liking. The servers are friendly and attentive. The support staff make sure your drinks are topped off and quickly respond to any requests. The service and food is top notch! We always bring our out of town guests to Scottys for breakfast. Kudos to Robert and the entire staff at Scottys Family Restaurant! Kid-friendliness: We love how they treat our kids with kindness and respect when we frequent the restaurant. They encourage them to order from the menu for themselves, something more places should encourage. Someday, our little ones will need the confidence to speak for themselves, and as a teacher I appreciate Scottys efforts.

Great family owned restaurant. Stand out dishes are the waffles, the pozole (weekend only), and the chorizo and eggs. Generous portions and lots of servers so you dont need to wait for coffee refills or if you need something.

Had a scrabble with mushrooms, ground beef and pepper jack cheese. Very delicious. Hash browns were good. But the best were the biscuits with gravy. They are the best in this area. Service was good. The place is nice, but not super upscale. The food is why people come. It was a full house, which is expected for a Sunday.

Went for Breakfast with my wife and I had the Chicken fried steak, with 2 over easy eggs and hash browns with a brisket and gravy and my wife had the 2 scrambled eggs with bacon and 2 biscuits with gravy. It was all amazing but I will say that their biscuits are some of the best Ive had in a long time, they were soft and flakey and you could tell they use cold butter in the mix. The country gravy was equally awesome, it wasnt watery like a lot of places just full of flavor.

Based on the other reviews, our experience seems to be an outlier. We got there and the were full. We waited 10 min for a table. Our server was a heavy set gentleman who was a bit rough. During ordering, we asked for an extra which ne repeated back. Before we were done he pulled the menu from my moms hand while she was reading it. I got the cornbeef. It tasted off. I asked if it was under cooked. They took it back and brought it back and it still tasted funny. We told the server and the time we got the check. He grabbed the bill out of my dads hand and crossed it out. He was definitely a bit rude/rough...and I had GI issues the rest of the day as I think the meat may have been spoiled. Anyhow, I wont be back

Words cannot describe the feeling I get when eating here the food is delicious and the service is beyond, everyone is always so nice, caring and the 1 thing I love the most is that you not only have 1 waiter the whole staff is always looking out for every table ready to remove empty plates from the table and refilling your drink. Review update: I came here with some family again. Ive been here several times over the last few years and its been great. Today, though, I experienced terrible service by one of the family owners(at least thats what I was told), Mike. There is no reason this person should be working the front end of the restaurant as host. We arrived and he let us know it would be a 20 min wait. I understand sometimes wait time can exceed that so after watching how he would let people he seemed to know go in first to be seated I went to ask how long it would be before he called us, its been 45 min by now and I take a look at the sign up sheet. He had scratched off our name and said hed probably called my name and I didnt come up, we were standing in front of him this whole time, he did not call anyones name! (He would quietly point and call his regulars to get seated). He said 20 min isnt that long out loud in front of the other patrons and I responded its been 45min and we arent the only ones that have been waiting! He was RUDE and shouted are you leaving or staying! I said, Im staying, Im waiting for my table! Absolute worst service and for a family owned restaurant, this is unacceptable. Someone else came out and sat us right away after that confrontation and as usual, everyone else was extremely friendly and we were waited on and food was great. Im not sure if I want to return if he will be there picking and choosing who gets to have a seat at the restaurant. What is your seating list for then? Please do yourselves a favor and dont have him as a host. In this day and age, you never know who youll get as a customer and could review your restaurant and place it on Tik Tok or other social media platform and ruin what youve worked so hard to establish. All cause someone doesnt know how to do a job! Original Review: Excellent establishment! Service was great from all staff. Place is busy but I can clearly see why. 15 Second Summary: (My longer Review is also listed further below for those wanting details): Nov 4, 2023: Exceptional customer service from employees, Sam and Robert, and a delicious breakfast made to my specifications @ Scotty s Family Restaurant in Whittier, California. Will definitely, DEFINITELY return the next time I m in Whittier. SOME READERS WANT DETAILS, SEE BELOW: WHEN: It was Saturday morning around 8:45 AM; The air was a bit chilly, as expected for November. There was a polite sign, asking customers to wait there, under the covered sidewalk, to be seated. Two parties ahead of me were being attended to by an employee. I like when employees wear the company s shirt; easier to differentiate between customers and staff. FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Moments later, a tall, clean-cut employee named Sam came towards me, Hi. Let s get you out of this chilly air and get you inside. Would you like a table or the counter? I chose the counter. First impressions really do matter. In less than a minute, employee Sam demonstrated his innate customer rapport building skills. Great first impression. As I settled into my seat, Sam asked if he could get me anything to drink while I looked at the menu. coffee with cream and sugar please . And then I was delighted to learn that they have different kinds of milk and creamers. The coffee steam high-fived my eyeglasses. Nice. I WANTED SOMETHING NOT ON THE MENU & I GOT IT! DELICIOUS! The menu is generously extensive. Though upon further review, I was a bit surprised that Huevos a la Mexicana was not on the menu especially since the rancheros version was on the menu. Hmmm Sam, any chance that the cook could make me Huevos à la Mexicana? Sam said he d be happy to ask the cook. Before I knew it, Robert, the Owner s son, came over to clarify what I wanted; he was relaxed and listened attentively, After I thanked Robert for being willing to make the breakfast I wanted, Robert said hey if I got the ingredients, [and the kitchen is not mad crazy swamped with orders already], then, I m happy to make what customer wants give me a few moments. Yippee! Soon after, my breakfast came exactly the way I wanted and it was delicious. The crowning touch was the unexpected addition of one large jalapeño that Robert had charred on the grill, and when I cut into it and tasted it, it had this smoky depth to it really delicious. Sitting at the counter, and watching Sam be in the moment, appreciating his customers, anticipating their needs, and Robert, one eye on the grill and one eye on his fellow staff and customers I could feel the ease of the team of employees who work at Scotty s restaurant. They really get along and they help each other out and they really want the customer to be pleased with their experience and the food at Scotty s restaurant. I saw the synergy, felt it and it s awesome. EAT AT SCOTTY s RESTAURANT! So, dear Reader, go to Scotty s restaurant in Whittier California, and enjoy the ambience of a hard-working staff, striving to give you a truly satisfying customer and food experience at reasonable prices. Once the city workers trim back these publicly owned trees then the Scotty s restaurant sign would be easier to spot so that you can turn in towards the restaurant.

Food was good. The wait was long. And we were a bit upset that 2 other people behind us went in ahead of me and my friend. But no worries. We try to not make it a big deal. It would be a good idea to be better organized to try to make everyone happy. I know it can be overwhelming and hard to serve everyone. I appreciate everyone that works in restaurants.

Was driving through Whittier to La Habra and thought Id swing by JTs beach club for a beer. Been years since Id been there as it was my fave spot for Friday games and beers after work & rocking bands too. To my surprise JTs was gone and I see this place. Not knowing much about it I drove off. Itll be a while since Im back in the area but Ill def give them a try. Sounds like a much different type of spot.

Stopped in for breakfast and was not disappointed! I went with an omlette with hashbrowns and biscuit and gravy, and it was great. Nice sized portions and the biscuits with gravy was very satisfying! Ive been coming to this restaurant for 10+ years. Biscuits and gravy has never changed! Ive had Biscuits and gravy at over 50-100 different restaurants. Never this good! And if you dont believe the hype, try them out. Not satisfied? Let them know. Theyll gladly swap them it for something else.

This was my first visit here. It was recommended by my boyfriends dad. I went for brunch, I was not aware they closed at 2pm. I was there at 1:15. It was not that busy, we were seated right away. I ordered The Works omelet and I definitely recommend. Had it with hash browns and a side of sourdough toast. The servers and host were kind but when it came closer to 2pm I felt very rushed. Atmosphere was very welcoming but nothing about the place was fancy. Ill be coming back for seconds

Its very clear that the team here loves their work and sharing their food at the cafe. The servings are huge and good quality. Overall flavor was a little bland, but we loved the experience so much well definitely be back and we highly recommend you give them a try. Pictured in the photos are 1/2 servings (they graciously pre-split plates for us without charge when we mentioned we wanted to share).

Love the holiday themed waffles. Had the Red Velvet ones today, they were delicious! When you go to Scottys they treat you like family. One suggestion I would have is to sale their shirts & sweatshirts. They look nice and it would be great for advertising. Food : 5/5

Service was excellent. Food was mediocre at best. It was cooked properly(not over or under cooked) but the ingredients were not good. Canned peaches as a side of fruit and mushy corned beef hash(probably from a can) and eggs that were most likely powdered. If it were cheap I would understand. For the price we paid we could have had a much better meal at home.
