I had the Guava salad and I hope this is a staple on their menu because its amazing! My friends had the potato dish, brussel sprouts, hamburger/fries, and Chicken tinga and everyone loved their dish. They were gracious enough to allow beer tasting before ordering and my bottled diet Coke was refreshing, though VERY small for the $5 It cost. That would be my only complaint. Definitely returning.

La Bodega Brewing is a hidden gem! The experience starts right at the entrance with a cool speakeasy vibe that sets the tone. Their brunch menu is fantastic, with some of the most unique and flavorful options we ve seen. The pancakes are a must-try super creative and delicious! The short rib omelette was packed with flavor, and they serve fun chip/fries for potatoes, which was a nice twist. The beer selection is huge, with something for every taste, making it perfect for a casual brunch or an afternoon hangout. Can t wait to come back!

Four of us went to dinner for my birthday and we had a stupendous meal. My Chile Colorado was super. The short ribs were tender and the sauce very flavorful. It came with a side of delicious refried beans and three tortillas, your choice of corn or flour. My husband devoured his Chile Verde, which was served with the same sides. The hot dog was my sisters choice and it was no ordinary hot dog. We all said Wow! when it was set in front of her. It was served with a good amount of fries that did not come out of a bag. Her husband raved about his hamburger, saying the meat was cooked to perfection. He also got the fries. Spoiler alert: Share the ice cream! The chocolate was to die for, but three huge scoops is way too much, especially after stuffing ourselves on the main courses. Of course, they make their own beer and have a great selection.

The food here is not good. It s poorly executed, and extremely expensive. First, the cocktails are basically non-alcoholic, and super sweet. The strawberry margarita was like drinking strawberry syrup; the paloma negra just tasted like juice. We also got a beer flight, and it was just okay. The guacamole is basic, but not worth $16. The Brussels sprouts were peeled down to their individual leaves, fried, and presented like a pile of brown, overly-salted leaves it was so salty it was inedible, and we ended up getting refunded for this. The mac and cheese was runny and liquidy, rather than creamy. The commal, which comes with chicken, beef, and pork, for $70, was small, and unimpressive. It seemed like mostly chicken, which was seasoned well, but dry. The beef was tender, but there were six slices, enough for two tacos. The pork was well-seasoned, and with some kick. It also came with two slices of cactus, a chile, and a seared lime, and two each of soggy corn and flour tortillas. It says it feeds 2-3 people, but in the absence of appetizers or sides, it might just be enough for one, with a hearty appetite. Save your money and go elsewhere, where the food is well-prepared, actually tastes good, and the cocktails have alcohol in them. This place was incredibly disappointing, and over-hyped. Do not recommend. It also was pretty empty on a Thursday night.

Great customer service. The food was delicious. My husband and I shared a Comal. My son had the drunken Waygu steak. I didnt like that the meals didnt include the sides. They were separate. I had never tried Waygu. It must be an acquired taste. I wasnt a fan. Nothing against the establishment of course. I drank like five glasses of water! No need to drink anything else. It was so refreshing.

Title: A Hidden Gem in Whittier: LA Bodega Brewing Company Review Nestled in the heart of Whittier, LA Bodega Brewing Company presents itself as a captivating speakeasy-themed brewery that effortlessly marries the allure of the prohibition era with contemporary brewing excellence. From the moment one steps through its doors, the establishment exudes a welcoming vibe, making guests feel both valued and at ease, thanks to the remarkably friendly and attentive staff. The brewerys ambiance is a tasteful nod to the past, with decor and details that transport you back in time, yet it maintains a modern edge that appeals to a broad spectrum of patrons. Its this delicate balance between the old and new that sets LA Bodega apart from other breweries in the area. One of the most commendable aspects of LA Bodega is its beer selection. The brewery prides itself on offering a diverse range of brews that cater to both aficionados and casual drinkers alike. Each beer is crafted with precision and passion, ensuring that every sip is a testament to the brewerys commitment to quality. Whether youre in the mood for something light and refreshing or dark and complex, LA Bodegas brew choices are on point and promise to satisfy. However, what truly elevates LA Bodega Brewing Company beyond a typical brewery is its exceptional food offerings. Far from the standard pub fare, the menu boasts an impressive array of dishes that complement their beers perfectly. The steak selections are particularly noteworthy a rarity for a brew house with cuts that are both succulent and flavorful, prepared to perfection. Yet, the standout dish has to be the Chili Colorado; its an absolute must-try. Rich, hearty, and bursting with flavor, it embodies the care and expertise that the kitchen puts into every dish. For those merely seeking a cold beer or those desiring a complete meal experience, LA Bodega Brewing Company stands out as a must-visit destination. Its a place where the love for beer and food converges, creating an unforgettable experience for locals and visitors alike. Whether youre from the Whittier area or just passing through, make sure to stop by LA Bodega. Its not just a brewery; its a journey back in time with the comforts and tastes of the present. Cheers to LA Bodega Brewing Company a true gem that shines brightly in Whittiers culinary and brewing scene.

Stumbled upon this place through Google and was pleasantly surprised. The beer selection was good, and the food quality was great. I ordered the burger and had their bodega fries, so good! Mind you the food can be a bit pricey, but the quantity of the food makes it worth it. Definitely considering a return visit.

Tonight was our first visit.. the service provided by our host & bartender Nancy was exceptional.. and the food is superb.. chile verde plate; meat so soft, falls right off the bone, and melts in your mouth.. not to mention the chile colorado; a blend of exquisite flavors.. Guava Shelter is a must try, delectable, crisp, refreshing flavors that explode in your mouth.. followed closely by La Fresa Shelter; smooth fruity flavors that tantalize the palate..after a hard days work dinner & drinks at Bodegas hit a home run.. no doubt we will become repeat offenders..

The idea is pretty cool. Its a meat shop but then the freezer door opens and its a restaurant. The pictures on the wall are black and white copies of celebrities framed. The womens bathroom is in direct line of sight with the dining area, which is awkward. The seats are too close together and hard to walk through. The staff is amazing and sweet. Food is also amazing. Its very expensive considering the area. Avocado toast is 12 bucks. Overall cool spot

This place is great. Very clean, Since the moment we got there. the staff was amazing & very friendly, The place is a little small I read max occupancy is 77 people. Our server Adrian was awesome, very nice & very attentive to our needs. She welcome us since it was our first time there, she explain the menu in detail. I love the fact that the menu has a little camera icon so you can see the picture of almost all the plates of food. If your like me that you eat with your eye this is a great feature. We order two comals they were delicious the 3 meats were cooked to perfection very nice & juicy, the beans were great, the rice not so much since it s lemon lime rice it would of been better with Spanish rice. It also comes with 6 yummy tortillas, they re to die for, really nice & tick. Possibly home made but I m not sure. They were delicious. The comal has a little compartment to keep the tortillas nice & warm. My son order a chicken salad it was also really good. The only reason I took off a star was because this place is super expensive the comal only comes with the 3 meats, tortillas & salsa no rice & beans that s extra for $66 why not include the rice & beans? I get it the meat is a good quality but man when I saw my bill, I almost die. The menu says the comal feeds 2-3 people. It really does not feed that many. I honestly think it only feed one person because they only give you a handful of meats not that much, it might feed two if one person eats one taco. Because you re basically filling yourself up with the tortilla. I would have been starving if I had not order the rice & beans. With that being said I do recommend this place after all the meat is cooked amazing, but maybe for a special occasion, or a date night but not just to go out & have dinner.

Everything was great. The service, atmosphere, beers were on point, and food was delicious. I made a reservation for 6, we were promplty seated. Server arrived quickly and was very thorough in explaining the menu and drink offerings, drinks were brought quickly. Then the rush was on, seemed like every 10 minutes we were being rushed to order food. After the 4th or 5th time I let our server know we were there for drinks first and we were evetually going to order food. Servers shift was over so we closed out with her, decent size bill. New server introduced and we ordered food, I was told what I ordred would take 25-30 minuetes to prepare. Watched other tables get the same dish at least 10 minuetes earlier than my dish arrived. My dish arrives and before I can smell the food I am being told that they need the table in 30 minuetes. I was never told that the table had a time limit, we would have stayed longer and spent even more money had we been offered another table. It is a nice place, I really liked it, however due to how they handled the situation, I dont think Ill go back.

The food was great but the service was was mid. We had to ask for utensils and I was given two knives and a fork placed on a paper napkin. My husband was handed proper silverware wrapped in a cloth napkin. The lunch offerings IRL were different from what was online, and the waiter was dismissive when we asked him to clarify the lunch menu. After we finished our food, we had to ask twice for the check and the server asked us to just give him our card. We hadnt seen the bill. He never returned. We went up to the bar to settle our tab. Kinda disappointed and unlikely to return.

We got here a bit earlier in the day and were quite surprised by the whole thing, but if was an interesting way to start the whole experience. We sat at the bar and were welcomed by the staff at the bar whole were very knowledgeable. They allowed us to sample anything we were interested in, even recommending and poor things they thought wed enjoy. The issue we ran into was trying to pick cause each brew was delicious and we had a difficult time picking. So we got flights instead. The food was good, I had the Bodega burger and my partner had the ay papá.. the burger was good. It was a burger, and the ay papá was delicious. We did pick from there more affordable menu, they definitely specialize in there prime meats, with unfortunately was not in our personal budget tonight. I hope next time to try there higher prices items. Parking: There is limited parking in front, but there is a parking Structure across the street. Not sure if its paid or not, we managed to find parking in a lot not far that was free.

The menu here looks amazing! We just dropped in for beer/seltzer and an appetizer. The beer and seltzer are made in house. And they are fantastic! I am not usually a guava person but the guava seltzer was soooo good, we bought a growler to go. The flat iron steak on the fries was very tender and favorable. My husband loves IPAs and loved the double IPA that was super smooth. (Sorry, I cant remember the name.) The steaks in the case looked unbelievably good. We will be back for a fine dining experience. From the outside you get a fantastic view of the. Brewery, as your curiosity is increasing there s an interesting door with a hostess ready to greet you with a strong smile, and eager to seat you, but your understanding of what s about to happen is stuck in the unknown, as the meat locker door opens you walk in and suddenly feel like you re in a speakeasy ,the line of taps on the wall make you thirst for everything single beer they have! The servers are friendly very attentive not overbearing but just right. The food begins to roll in and even with a full house the wait was only 3/4 of a beer long ! The menu in my opinion has a heavy hitter selection, it s on point! This is all important because it makes you forget that you walked in to a meat locker! Over all a fantastic experience, customer service, food , beer , and cocktails . It s a great place for a solid night out with the family, friends, coworkers . Go check it out for yourself

Parking is easy on the weekends, with a parking structure nearby and streets having ample places. However, make a reservation! Is a must! Odd building, it seems like a small market as you enter, and I realized that the main door is this huge frozen meat locker door. Ingenious! The decor is fantastic! As you enter, it is a small place and quite a frenzy of movement . So many beers! There are so many specialty drinks! The food is great! Tasty large plates and a good selection. Decor interior is to die for. The ambiance kind of wavered... there are no windows there is a small room for a gathering. Beyond that, its a great hole in the wall meet up for friends and family. Give it a try.

At first the entrance doesnt seem like we were at the right place, but a quick conversation with the hostess assured us we were at our intended destination. We were seated at the bar and instantly greated and attended to by a gentleman by the name of Andres. He by far made the entire experience remarkable. 3 stars because of the wait. We went on a Sunday for brunch. Originally, a 12:30 reservation that the restaurant asked if we could push back to 1pm reservation but were seated closer to 1:30. When we were seated, it was behind the wall of locker steins. It was like our own private room which was fabulous because we had 4 kids under 9 years old. (Yes its a speakeasy & brewery, but parents have to eat too. We had friends from Ventura who love breweries, so we were excited to share our own Whittier Brewery.) Server was friendly, but I think out of sight out of mind. By the time we were able to order (not our choice we were ready because we were all staring at the menu while waiting) at the end of brunch we were able to order from both menus, brunch & dinner. We didnt get out of the restaurant until 3:30. So the time is what killed the rating. Food was delicious. I gave 3 stars because of the food. Would go back, for the food but perhaps ask to sit at the bar for faster service. Service and waiting around for everything is what killed it being 4 or possibly 5 stars. Kid-friendliness: We were seated in the side room, perfect for kids. We had room for strollers and the kids to move around without disturbing other guests.

La Bodega recently started a happy hour deal. It s two tacos and a beer for $9.99. They offer chicken tacos with this pricing. Add $3 if you want beef. We tried both and found both meats to be juicy and flavorful. We will definitely be back to take advantage of this special offer!

At first I couldn t find the place due to the storefront looking different from the pics that are posted on Google Maps. Luckily the guy in the front pointed us to the right direction and gotta say it s pretty slick the way they designed the joint. To be honest come for the food, the food was really good and did not disappoint. This is one of those unique occasions where the food is so much better than the beer. The service was great our waiter was very helpful and everything she recommended was delicious. Definitely coming back when I get some money.

I give a one star for being on the waiting list and given a round about time when we d be seated., LONG WAITING TIME. I ve been here before ., late night on Mother s Day for our first time with my young adult children and was lucky to get in. It was near to closing. They were only able to accommodate us by serving cocktails only. which was fine with my adult children and I., Kitchen was closing by the time we arrived. Today 5/21/2022 my second time coming here, we made reservation 1 hour ago. About 40 minutes ago we were sent a message that our table was ready. , The host came about 10 minutes upon us waiting and said it would be another 10 minutes that they were cleaning the table. Here we are a party of 7 and they have seated a party of 4, a party of 6 and still waiting .. so why my 1 star? Well I think you can figure that out. Over one hour waiting! And now we are having to speak to another worker, possibly a manager. . Mady came apologizing saying it s gonna be another 45 min. Till they can seat us. Mady came out again and was apologetic some more. asked if we still wanted to wait to be seated., she and Bodega restaurant would be giving us all a free round of cocktails and guacamole with chips to compensate for the Wait. We all decided to wait as it was 6 in our party that had never been. I understand that Bodega has a small seating accommodation but this doesn t excuse our waiting time. As I m sending this message we are still waiting. we decided to WAIT the 45 min. But are next door from Bodega restaurant enjoying our beverage and appetizers. If you like fries with a good selection of meats and sauces you must try next doors food from la Bodega, the appetizers next door are amazing. well, this is To be continued .. We finally got seated. The Bodega was really loud. Mady was very accommodating and attentive to us. Unfortunately I had to leave early so I wasn t able to eat my entrée till late that evening . I had there Ribs and thought they were a bit in the salty side. It came with some paste and I wasn t impressed. My friends and family said it was okay. We all agree we should come on a week day as security said wk days are not as busy as wk ends. So I ll be giving la Bodega a third shot in hope that the wait time goes smoothly . And what I order isn t in the salty side. Crossing my fingers.

The place is very nice, calm but the strange thing is, that it is a little bit dark. The staff is friendly, they serve well. The dish I ordered was prime ribeye. It was well seasoned, had a rich flavor. The meat was soft, I could cut the meat easily. They had a big menu. recommend this restaurant.

The Wagyu ribeye was very good. Could eat it with a spoon. They brew their own beer and it is very good as well. Tried the pumpkin seed dip which was a little spicy and had a hummus-like texture. Comes with homemade blue corn tortillas......amazing.

Worse service Ive gotten in a while. Mallory was my server. She kept ignoring me while walking by, kept helping everyone around me. Been there once before, was not impressed with the beers. I gave them a second chance and took my wife for dinner. Im always open to giving a establishments a second chance but they terribly failed. Took me 20 mins flagging down my server to close out. I shouldve gotten a free round like the drunk guys next to me.

I think this place did Amazing!!! The food was delicious especially the cauliflower, and Bodega Fries . Great beer and wine and hoping for craft cocktails in the future . This is a speakeasy style restaurant and I would keep it this way .I have children who are much older now 12& 16 , so it s cool knowing they could come with me , however I wouldn t recommend small children under 10 as I feel it would kill the Speakeasy Vibe , service was amazing , I will definitely be back , hopefully in the future you guys can have a live jazz band .

This place is definitely not accommodating for families especially with smaller kids that are in strollers. When you arrive they take your name down and you wait to be seated, however if you walk in with a stroller the person who seats you changes his attitude tells you to tear down your stroller and is very rude. If you plan on going with your family don t recommend it at all.
