Have been coming here since 1980’s
but last 2-3yrs haven’t been able to. Finally had a chance to order takeout. I was so excited unfortunately VERY disappointed.
We ordered all white meat Chicken w/Snow Peas. They used to have sliced white chicken breast and ordered Sweet n Sour Shrimp with Egg Soup. Flavor on everything was bland and quality was terrible. Felt like they served whatever chicken they had left in the kitchen.
Front desk individuals changed and owners have changed unfortunately I think the original Chefs are gone too, guess they took the recipes with them.

Ehhhh. Struggling to understand why it is rated so high, but maybe I just ordered all the wrong things? This is one of the few times that the food actually looked better then it tasted. The rice was exciting because you don't expect all the protein in a side order of rice. The red bits of beef though were large and unappetizing. The shrimp was good. Beef and broccoli was decent. The soup was not good at all, and I could smell the seasame oil through the entire bag. The cream cheese wonton was good, regular, not sweet.... Still good though! Egg roll was a little soggy on the inside, mush. Paper chicken was probably one of the worst things I heave eaten in awhile. Looks like an 8/10, but the taste is at a 5. Probablly wouldn't try again. I appreciate that they keep up with the care of the fish, I have seen other places neglect them, but these seemed fine. The decor of the restaurant was very outdated. Could be a great place, just isn't.

Couple of local Chinese Restaurants in the area have closed down....so I am came here....should have came here years ago! 😊

Food: I love the Kung Pao Chicken because the chicken is not dry but cooked perfect and seasoned with Peanuts and green onions for texture. The Braised Green Beans are a perfect side dish with Fried Shrimp❤

Service: Friendly, Fast, and Attentive.

Final thought: I love their egg flower soup but take-out does not come with it, only with dine in.

I love the Silver dinner with special chow mein. I also love the walnut shrimp but the sauce is probably not for everyone. The portions are great and it's just good comfort food.

The food is great but the customer service lacks. Our order was wrong and all Mrs. Sherry said was, Oh ok and walked away. What happened to customer service? How about saying, I am sorry, let me go ahead and take that and make you your order but nooooo she just said Oh Ok and walked away. Not only that but it seemed like she was rushing us and trying to order for us. The other waiters were super friendly and on top of it.

Delicious!! It s your authentic Chinese food and they start you off with tea and crispy wonton chips that you dip in sweet sauce or spicy hot sauce. We ordered the family meal and we egg drop soup, eggs rolls for started and a meat patty that was cooked in foil. I really enjoyed the pork chops and orange chicken and both were yummy and sweet. The fried rice was spot on. I would like to try their other dishes and would come again. I only wished they had oranges but the meal was finished with a fortune cookie and almond cookie

The food is amazing, but staff can be rude at times. I went here to eat while carrying some grocery bags and they were very judgemental. Nothing rude was said, but staff gave judgemental looks and clearly wanted me out of there as quickly as possible. This did mean I got my food and check quicker than any restaurant Ive been too before. I dont know if its some sort of taboo to bring groceries into a restaurant, but it was only a couple bags and I dont have a car so I couldnt put them anywhere.

Sorry to give a bad review but I kept reading such positive comments but the food was not good, the green beans were made with pre chopped garlic and extremely salty. I ordered the tangerine chicken and Mongolian beef, they both tasted the same! Both of them tasted like bbq pork. Not sure if it was cooked in the same pan. Again the price was high for such small portions. The place was dirty and the fish tank was sad. I should have walked out before ordering and gone with my gut but after living in Whittier for over 13 years and wanting to try this place glad I did. I won t be going back. I will gladly drive to Pots And Woks! Sorry just want to give my honest opinion!

I have visited Silver Palace regularly over the last few decades. They offer some of the best Chinese food in So Cal. It is such an unassuming location void of any aesthetic fluff and the owner Bob is such a gracious and pleasant host. I moved about 50 miles away from their location a decade ago and still make it a point to visit a few times every year. You would be hard pressed to find better taste and service. *The lunch special is an INCREDIBLE deal

They offer a lot of tasty dishes and lunch specials give them a try. I am SO disappointed with Silver Palace in Whittier. My husband & I placed an order for take out. We feel ripped off! they have changed their containers from boxes to these rectangular 1 plastic shallow trays. The trays creates too much moisture. There wasnt enough food for the bothh of us. I wont be ordering Take out again. Not a good choice- less food higher price!!!

I have been coming here for about 38 years now since I was 8 years old. This has ALWAYS been my favorite place to eat. They are very friendly and attentive. Bob has memorized my order and brings me a pitcher of water because he knows my mouth will be on fire from all the chili oil I eat lol my favorite dishes and recommendations are honey walnut shrimp,sweet and hot shrimp,asparagus and beef in garlic sauce,vegetable chow mein,war wonton soup and tangerine beef. Although every dish is good those are my favorites. A little before the pandemic they stopped having live crab and lobster but you can bring some and they will cook it for you! I recommend you do that and you will not be disappointed. Lobster in black bean sauce and the crab the same way or the ginger scallion ,either way is fantastic. My family has come to Silver Palace for about 35 years, and its been about 20 years for me, and the food has always been great! Not only that, but it seems they have moved the furniture around, so it feels more open, and the accustics are still good. Were seated away imitately and 2 minutes later, served cups of water, and get brought a pot of black tea. We ordered after a bit, and I wish I had pictures, but we ate it all so quickly. Sorry, not sorry. Keep in mind that when dining in, it will always be a table order, where you can share platters with one another, so dont be afraid to share with friends and to mix and match. We get one order of number 27, the House Special Wor Wonton Soup. A personal recommendation of mine because it has a good mix of vegetables and meat. My grandmother was steamed Vegitables with Tofu, and my grandfathers was the Tangerine Beef. Footnote, do not eat the Tangerine Beefs peppers. They are spicy and HOT. I ordered the Sweet and Sour chicken, and it was great as ever. As a finisher to the grest meal we had, they brought out Orange Slices, Almond Cookies, and of course, Fortune Cookies. Its totally worth the trip here after church. Vegetarian options: They have a selection of options at the back of the menu for vegans like my grandmother alike. Parking: Theres about 30 spots. Thats not including the parking for the shops nearby, or the witwood mall. Kid-friendliness: Ive seen kids come in all the time. The first time I came here, I was about 3 to 4 years old. According to my grandmother, I was 1 when I came here. Wheelchair accessibility: They have a ramp to get to the porch. No worries here!

I used to have to go all the way to downtown LA for good Chinese food. This is an affordable equal. The war won ton takes me back to my childhood family night out. The shrimps are always cooked correctly, as are all the other dishes. 4 people ordering almost any entree with appetizer war wonton soup fried rice and drinks just over a $100 not to mention lots to take home. Our familys been regulars for over 30 years! Never once has there been a significant issue. Always good food, always good service. Our family rolls in big too, many branches of our family tree has been made happy here. Over 40... maybe 50 friends family members and probably 100 plus dining experiences and I swear theres never been a bad experience. I wont say everything is perfect... its not fine dining, weve had a dirty cup once, its possible one of our entrees was overcooked, and it caters to the American palate and isnt exactly authentic. But when someone wants Chinese food this is always my first recommendation.

Customer service is key in business, and the Silver Palace has it 100% Staff are friendly, food is BEYOND AMAZING. Real authentic Chinese food. I will most definitely be coming back. If you have left overs (most likely you will, big portions) the staff can box it up for you as courtesy. Kid-friendliness: Picky eaters like it fried, they have fried shrimp (15 pieces) and is really good. Made to order, NOT store bought.

I stopped by in the mid-evening on Sunday, picking up some to-go order, they only have a few tables occupied, wasnt near full or bustling at all. However, the employee handling the to-go order was acting like a busybody, didnt even lift her eye lids, telling what ensued. She simply pointed to my order on the rack, which was overloaded in a cardboard box with two loose items on top, which could have easily fallen off on the way back to my car. When I asked for an extra bag, her face started twitching, and turning grumpier. She even mumbled some words of displeasing, classic antics like she was still living in a foreign land or one more patron would unravel her life. With her drooping eyelids and puffy face, I guess no amount of caffeine or sugary drinks would render more life to such a zombie!

Food is good. The chicken salad was disappointing. It was slices of iceberg lettuce, with four chicken pieces, and a dressing. If theyre going to advertise a salad, they should put effort into serving a good salad, even if its a small side salad. Add some carrots shreds, cabbage, small tomato, etc... Make it an appetizing salad. Hopefully they will improve this.

My family and I popped in late last night about an hour before they closed. We have been looking for a new Chinese restaurant cause our favorite close down last year and we dont like the take out chinese food places around here. We got, beef and broccoli, mushrooms with tender greens, dumplings and beef with chinese bbq sauce. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. The dumplings were not our favorite, a bit too much pork (for us). Everything was fresh and hot and just delicious. When they are closing they were kinda rushing us, which I understand. It was like 915 and they close at 945. It was nice to see at the end of the night all the staff cleaned up and then sat down and ate and cut up together. Its was like watching a family have their dinner together as well. We cannot wait to go back and try different items on the menu! Thank you and loved your giant fishes in the tank too. =)

My new number 1 place for Chinese food. Havent been to this type of restaurant since I was a kid. I thought with how fast everything is today they were a thing of the past . From the menu, hit tea to the fortune & almond cookie. I hesitate to expose a high quality great sit down experience but this is a breath of fresh air from 1 to a whole family. Ehhhh. Struggling to understand why it is rated so high, but maybe I just ordered all the wrong things? This is one of the few times that the food actually looked better then it tasted. The rice was exciting because you dont expect all the protein in a side order of rice. The red bits of beef though were large and unappetizing. The shrimp was good. Beef and broccoli was decent. The soup was not good at all, and I could smell the seasame oil through the entire bag. The cream cheese wonton was good, regular, not sweet.... Still good though! Egg roll was a little soggy on the inside, mush. Paper chicken was probably one of the worst things I heave eaten in awhile. Looks like an 8/10, but the taste is at a 5. Probablly wouldnt try again. I appreciate that they keep up with the care of the fish, I have seen other places neglect them, but these seemed fine. The decor of the restaurant was very outdated. Could be a great place, just isnt.
