Kopan Sushi & Ramen

This place is my wife's go to ramen spot. I am not the biggest fan of Ramen but they have some pretty good sushi. We split the spicy edamame which was super good! I also ordered a baked roll and a special type of spicy tuna roll. Service is decent depending who is working (sometimes specific waiters don't come around at all to check up on you but it's not often). The place is a cool quiet spot with Japanese art and decorations all around the restaurant.

The atmosphere and vibe are on point! It’s very cozy, perfect for a date. Weekdays are way empty, weekends get full, but early hours are easy to get a table.
Service is sometimes a hit or miss though.
Sushi roll sizes are borderline a little too expensive for the size.

Otherwise it’s a really nice spot, food is good, and service can sometimes be good too.

Came here for a quick dinner and enjoyed some the rice less rolls that they have, both enjoyable and presentation was superb! This place has a creative spin the to standard plating layout you typically see at normal sushi restaurants - would definitely come back out to try the Ramon and some other rolls on the menu!

I replied "Ask them. How would I know, I don't work here." His observation is right tho.

AVOID THIS PLACE!

Servers and ambiance are great. Food - meat is different. Feels like ground meat..pork and seafood meat (in rolls) alike. Calamari (squid) is the only whole meat that we had.

Ordered through Uber eats. Solidly underwhelming. Heavy, greasy and over salted. Neither of us felt great afterward. Also $3.50 for a side of seared cashu pork that was literally the size of a single piece of lunch meat. Oh well!

This place is amazing! Their food is delicious, incredibly beautiful and of the highest quality I have found on a sushi restaurant. The assorted sushi dishes are out of this world. Each piece is superior to the one before, to the point that theres almost a moment of sadness when the plate is finally empty. I would recommend this place, without any hesitation whatsoever, to the most demanding palates and sushi lovers. Oh! And to all vegans, please, pleaaaase try the King Mushroom Steak. I cant even begin to tell you how many exquisite flavors will appear and disappear in your mouth with every bite.

Great Sushi and great sushi chefs. Servers are young and inexperienced so we usually will sit at sushi bar for better service. Definitely try the Hamburg Steak! Its a hamburger patty, not a fancy German steak by the way

Okay I loved it there. The food was delicious and we got the 2 tonkotsu ramen and 1 Kara miso ramen! It was nice that 4 servers checked up on us the first 5 mins, but I would have liked if we had one and let us relax. We are not in a rush to get our drinks and food. Thank you :)

Its best to come during the week when rolls are 50% honestly on a weekend the price doesnt match the quality. $ 18.00 for a Snow crab roll that has 6 pieces. The other two rolls cost the same and they were mediocre.

I shouldve listened to the reviews mediocre at best nothing really opened for Christmas day and wanted to eat something different went to joy sushi since on Google maps said it was open it was closed ended up going to this place kopan sushi and Ramen got appetizer crispy rice tuna 2 rolls spider and crunchy boy or crazy roll as well as Ramen 75 was the damage plus tip all for takeout its not about the money I spent its about the quality taste in the food never stepping a foot in any kopan no flavor.

Picked up some online orders mid evening, days before Christmas. The staff had the most indifferent attitude, didnt bother to greet or make eye contact. I signaled to the manager, guessed the one, plus built with no uniform, just walked by with no acknowledgement at all. The employee at the front counter likewise, sluggish and unwilling, lemon doesnt fall far from the tree. Either too much carbohydrates or all the glitters holiday was draining them. The place was not even busy, while customers were wrapping up the last stretch of shopping. Hope Santa has mercy, still spare them with something, like a happy meal!

Asked for veggie broth, they gave me pork broth. I asked if i can get veggie ramen like i asked.. they said sorry our kitchen is closed. 9:30pm they close 10. The cooks walked out at 9:45 from the building , dont go late.

Service was extremely slow. They staff kept placing the wrong food on the wrong tables. My husband received his food done about 15 minutes or more before I received mine. The buy 1 get 1 50% off doesn t apply to to go orders even we already spent $60. The chicken on the bento box both crispy and teriyaki was extremely chewy, the third item tasted old and rubbery as well. Don t get me started on my baked roll. We will never go back again

My husband and I used to come to this restaurant a few times a month and always had a great experience. We moved in late 2019 and havent been back in the area - until tonight. Right away we noticed the the restaurant has had some interior upgrades and it looks great inside. We had an early dinner and were seated right away. One of the wait staff came up to us 90 seconds or so after sitting down and asked if we would like appetizers or if we were ready to order. we rushed to find something to order I gave my drink order as well but she walked away before my husband could give his. After that we waited about 15 minutes before one of the chefs at the sushi bar instructed one of the wait staff to go to our table. During our visit we had 3 different waiters. It doesnt appear they are assigned sections which presents the opportunity for some things to fall between the cracks. Unfortunately, they brought my husbands and my food out at very different times. We found a hair in one of our dishes that was clearly not ours and the waitress I pointed it out to and asked if she could take the plate back acted as if it was our fault. This dish was not replaced or taken off our bill. All that being said the food is still great. They are no longer doing, build your own ramen information that would have been nice to know at the beginning - not while trying to order. Two of the three wait staff were friendly and the chefs at the sushi bar are definitely talented! This could have just been an off night, but we will probably try out the Fullerton next time. Great food. Okay service.

My friend kept hyping this place up, so I had to try it. Been here twice now and plan on returning. Ive gotten the bento plate. Super delicious, I know its a ramen place but wasnt feeling ramen that day, but dang was it good. The ramen is so flavorful. I got the chicken with pork broth. So good. I gave 4 stars because I found the food mediocre. The thick guy with the beard and fabulous smile was super nice and pleasant. The girl could have let me sit anywhere I wanted, there were a lot of seats available, but I didn t complain because I could tell she d been working hard and she seemed nice. I would have liked the garlic pork soup a lot better if the egg and pork had been in the soup and actually saturated in the broth and the same temperature. It just appeared as if they threw cold pork and a half a boiled egg on top of some undercooked noodles. Vs the egg having a savory soaked flavor and color of the broth. The pork at other places seemed more tender and cooked differently rather than maybe just microwaved and thrown on top. I m not saying it s terrible. It s good if you re used to mediocre food. I think some small changes could make their food much better so I leave this review from a good place. The chefs are cute how they smile at everyone. Definitely not worth the money for me, but I hope they improve these tiny things.

Food was ok for the price (sushi roll and teriyaki chicken). The Ramen -noodles , pork, not good no real flavor in the broth. The salad that comes with the bento box the sauce tastes like chicken broth with chilli ... did not enjoy it. We arrived at 9:40 pm and felt kind of rushed 10 minutes later assuming since they were closing soon 10:30 was closing time. The best thing we tried was the sake.

When we first walked in, the words out of the first person we saw were ooh we re going to squeeze you in, you guys barely made it on time - Host. We then sat down; the next person we encountered; Ok we got to make this quick because it s almost closing time - Branden . First of all, we arrived at 21:11 and our waiter (Branden) arrived to our table at 21:25 ( restaurant closes at 22:00). It was rude of him to approach our table like that. On top of that he had to repeat our order three times because he kept Messing up. Understandable that the employees want to go home, but there is better ways to handle customers. Like maybe not making them wait long to wait to order food if you want to kick us out on time, or being polite and letting us know about last call being 40 min before closing time ..Food was great. Best ramen I ve had around here. But, the service was horrible. I would like to come back, perhaps at an earlier time when they re not rushing people 40 min before closing time, and give this place another shot.

Personally one of the members of the staff didnt wanted us there, one gave us the last item of what we ordered and not even 5 minutes later he came and gave us the check when we didnfordered it or we werent already done with our dishes so that is minus points. The last time I visited was around this time last year. The ramen then was cooked just right, but the broth lacked the signature punch that made me fall in love with ramen so many years before. I gave it another shot since I was in the area just to be more disappointed than I was last year the broth had a taste of 90% stock and 10% tare (bland/unseasoned), the noodles were translucent with a very soft bite (overcooked), egg was cooked through, chashu buried in noodles with virtually no color, and green onions topped different from whats featured on their menu. Im not sure what happened with the chain of command with the ramen-side of Kopans name, but it is not the same and has not been for some time now. Please consider bringing back the original recipe and attention as Im sure there are others who want to remember Kopan Ramen the way it once was. For those of you looking for a great, authentic flavor for a similar price, Id recommend checking out Ajisen. For you locals who dont mind spending an extra couple bucks, try out HiroNori in Santa Fe Springs.

Ive had edemame from various Sushi joints but NO ONE does it quite like Kopan does! I end up having to get 2 spicy garlic edemame orders. One to enjoy while in the restaurant and one for on the drive home! Recently I started ordering their hot green tea (which fun fact, will help your tummy after youve gobbled up more than you should!) Ill share with you my order: Spicy garlic edemame, Jalapeño bombs, 2 Sushi rolls, ramen for my husband, and water and some hot green tea :)

Loved the spicy garlic edamame they were very flavorful. I also ordered the Kara miso ramen, it was supposed to be spicy it had a very tiny kick not spicy in my opinion, but it was savoury. My friend got two sushi rolls and I gotta say a lot of bang for your buck, the size of the roll is much bigger than most places! He ordered the senorita roll and volcano roll, it being his third visit for the sushi Id say its a hit in his book. They also have a but one roll get the second half off, youd have to inquire but it sounds like thats a daily deal.

Great Expirience! Sat at the bar and the chef served the food right to us in a very polite manner. The food was fresh and delicious, especially the masago! I was really impressed by the atmosphere, a great place to dine-in, all wood furniture and delicate decor. The servers are fast and friendly. It was definitely one of the best sushi places I have been to in a while and while it is a little pricey it is definitely worth it especially if you dine-in.

looked at the hours online prior to going (about 9:30ish), it was posted that they were open until 11pm. we walk in and sat down, i felt like we were being rushed from the minute we walked in. the server took our drink order right away, we asked twice to have a few more mins to look over the menu and we weren t given time. we order, and we both order extra noodles. we got our food and the extra noodles were in a separate bowl (no additional broth just dry noodles). mind you the main bowls they brought with the normal amount of noodles didn t have enough broth to begin with. before our bowls were put on our table and before the people next to us got their food, the server told us it was last call and asked if we needed anything else which i thought was very rude. i called the server over and asked what time they closed because we were being rushed, she said the hours posted online are from when covid just started happening and they close at 10:00. i didn t even mention the weird aftertaste both soups had, and the fact that they didn t look like the photos. i recommend stop seating people at a certain time if you plan to rush them anyways, especially if your hours online aren t accurate. not an overall good experience, we will not be back.

Best ramen in town. I know there are many kopans out there in oc, but this one is my favorite kopan! Highly recommend kara miso ramen and calamari tempura! O ya they also have super fresh sushi :)

I had the exgirlfriend & Hawaiian rolls with miso soup and salad. Everything was delicious. I will definitely go back for more.

A satisfying meal with delicious broth, properly flavored ingredients and just the right spice. I requested the Kara Miso but without an ingredient due to allergies. The waiter said the cook recommended modifying the Tonkotsu Ramen to a similar spice level with the same ingredients as the Kara minus my allergen. I appreciate a cook that is that attentive to my allergies and able to recommend an alternative item that is just as good. The food was amazing and the customer service was excellent.

One of the more affordable and good options in the area when it comes to Ramen. They offer outdoor sitting, with good services. The food was pretty good value if you come visiting during lunch time. Whittier isn t known for ramen nor Japanese food, so this place is probably the best ramen you can get if you just happen to be in the area, and also need to dine at the restaurant during COVID. I d recommend this place for lunch or just some light soup based ramen

Kopan Ramen is amazing! Their broth is so flavorful and the fresh veggies really add color and texture to the dish. My wife and I really liked the panko crusted shrimp appetizer as well, really light with a great crunch. We started going pre-Covid and haven t noticed any drop in quality with pick up orders.

Great soup. Delicious calamari and spicy edamame. I highly recommend it. Im definitely coming back.

Though the food here is great, their practices of buying one roll, and receiving the other 1/2 price is not true. And when I brought this to the attention of the staff for correction they made no effort to make such corrections to their mistake. I brought 4 rolls and my total discount should have been $8.73, and instead was $4.99, a difference of $3.74 in their favor. When I asked why was not the more expensive roll discounted at 1/2 price, instead of the cheaper $5.00 rolls ordered, and the reply was: Thats the way it is. And I cancelled the order. If this is a common practice with this chain, then it is being dishonest with their customers, therefore, be wise and check your receipts at all times to make sure you are receiving what you paid for... whereby 98.6% of people seldom do, and if something is wrong... never bother to say something about it.

Pretty lame that their sushi rolls are only 6 pieces now instead of 8, whats the point of the buy one get one half off if youre gonna skimp people out

Ordered the same Manu as last week because of the good experience, ends up totally disaster, they must ve change their chef, looks different size different taste different, . Price the same . Will not suggest .

I ve only been to the one in Fullerton once. I m not a big ramen person but for some reason I was craving it and curious to try it again. I was not disappointed. This place has the works! I ordered to go due to COVID19 and the packaging and attention to detail does not go unnoticed. The food is delicious and I will definitely be back again. They even had all the safety precautions necessary for the pandemic. Would recommend to anyone in the area looking for a good ramen or sushi fix!

I ve been coming Kopan Ramen for a year now, for their Ribeye beef don. I have never had a complaint about this place until now. I placed an online order and when I arrived home the order looked completely different. I checked the menu and everything was the same. I called the restaurant and they told they changed their menu weeks ago. To my understanding it hasn t been updated on their paper menu or online menu. This is very disappointing. The boiled egg looked old and it did not taste the same. On top of that they didn t give me utensils or hot sauce after they told me they did. Overall I was disappointed. This will be the last time I order here.
