The wife wanted to try the famous Tom Cruise White Chocolate Coconut Cake. I read reviews that it was dry but it was not the case at all. It was very moist and not dry at all. Loved the white chocolate all around the cake. We also got recommended the strawberry shortcake. It wasn't dry at all as well. I'm not sure where the other reviewers are getting that their cakes here are dry but it was not our experience.

I've been wanting to try the famous white chocolate coconut bundt cake made famous for being the "Tom Cruise cake."
Cake is very decadent and rich. Love the loads of coconut flakes. However, it's a bit sweet for my liking. In addition to the coconut cake, I also got carrot bundt cake and dark chocolate. Both were very rich and sweet.
My preference when it comes to sweets or desserts would be on the lighter fluffy side versus dense cake with a lot of frosting. I can see why the white chocolate coconut cake is a favorite amongst many.

First time customer, ordered iced coffee and muffin. The coffee tasted awful, and the muffin…at first I was a bit annoyed at the price for how small it was…but it was DELICIOUS. I got the pumpkin pineapple raisin and it might be the best muffin I’ve ever had.

I ordered their famous Coconut cake via Goldbelly to be delivered 9/5/24 for a birthday and spent $126 dollars. I ordered it more than a week in advanced. They missed the 9/5 delivery which sucked for our party. We received it 9/6, packages nicely, semi melted but the BIG disappointment was the cake was so dry & did not have much flavor.

I was very hyped about trying this cake and for the price it was such a let down. But willing to visit the bakery next time in California around the area.

Ordered a While chocolate coconut bundt cake via goldbelly. Wow overnight shipping was great and arrived on time via ups. I let it sit out for 90 minutes and then tried it. It is absolutely delicious. Very moist and a very rich frosting. Definitely worth the hype. To the people saying it's too sweet, ofcourse it is because it's a white chocolate coconut bundt cake! 7Sept.2023 Just received this White chocolate coconut bundt cake from (sloppy) UPS. I purchased this cake due to the hype from TOM CRUISE who give these cakes as gifts to his friends for Christmas. This is how it came out of my box. There was NO dry ice. So now I must refrigerate or freeze my cake. I’ve heard about this company and I decided to indulge in the yumminess. The cake looks good.

The cake is dry, loaded up with coconut, and icing. The price for this cake was pricey and would loved for the cake to be moist. I’m honestly not satisfied with this. I hope when the celebs receive their cakes 🎂 it doesn’t choke them like I’m over here fighting to eat this cake. This is poor customer service on a whole other level. ALL cakes should be made with quality. Whether it’s in your shop or shipping it anywhere. Wished it was a better experience.

The Famous Tom Cruise’s White chocolate coconut Bundt cake . Loved it!! Not too sweet & I enjoyed the cream cheese frosting with the coconut flakes. A few of my guests thought the cake was a bit dry , but I didn’t mind it . It didn’t take away the deliciousness of the cake.

I happened to be passing and had always wanted to try because of all the hype. I didn’t know what to expect, and when I walked in 3 young employees were doing their own thing, no greeting, no warmth, no reaction. I decided to go with the individual White Chocolate icing Chocolate Bundt cake, not the famous Coconut, as I’m not much of a coconut fan. I was slightly surprised by the $8 price, well maybe not that surprised. It’s got to be amazing to warrant that price.
I got home and tried it immediately with a nice hot nespresso. I was so disappointed it was SO dry. The icing was nice, smooth and great flavor. But the Bundt, was, so dry! Had my 14yr old & husband try without my review and they both said the same thing. Will not be going back for sure.

I ordered the cake to be delivered through Goldbelly. It did arrive in time and was still cool inside. The cake itself is not really that great. I had to Google if it was supposed to have a weird layer near the top and I think that is the mixed in white chocolate chips...they basically just congealed in a thin layer near what would have been the bottom of the pan. The cake itself was a little dry. The frosting did not really compliment it at all. Its too sweet and you dont taste any cake at all if you eat the frosting. Overall, I will stick with coconut cake that I have a recipe for and skip this one.

You can come here for the coconut cake, but you gotta try so much more. I have loved all the items I have ordered and eaten. It is on my list to try everything from this place. Not a great place to come if you are eating healthy, but then that is not their focus.

I was wanting to order the famous Tom Cruise coconut cake for my mother s bday. I live in Palm Springs, CA and was made aware Doan s does delivery. First issue was that I wasn t able to order the week of 4 of July and the week after. All the dates were blocked off so I could not order the infamous cake . Second issue is they have terrible customer service. I did not catch the young ladies name but she answered the phone on Saturday, June 29th at 10:14 (if that helps the owners narrow down the employee that gave terrible customer service). I called twice to ask for help and both times she was very short and rude. At one point I asked her for advice, to see if there was another option since delivery wasn t made available, she rudely said NO with attitude. She was useless and to have rude employees like that in a business just leaves a sour taste in your mouth. Being that the cake cost 129.00, you d think they would have excellent customer service.

It was our daughters 21st birthday, and we wanted a truly special cake for this amazing time in her life. We already knew that our choice would be Doans. Their cakes are delish and their staff is delightful! We worked with Marina who is a gem! She patiently listened to all our thoughts, and was just as excited to offer her ideas. She created a magical work of art! We are so grateful. This time around it was for our daughters college graduation, and Marina delivered once again. The intricate detail of this cake was out of this world! The cake was just as delicious as it was beautiful. Thanks again!!!

Dont be afraid to mailorder the Cocut Cake from Doans or Goldbelly(Service). I live in Huntsville, AL and ordered it on a Thursday and it got here on the following Tuesday. I would have never guessed that it had been on the road for a few days. It arrived in a cold pak, still cold and packaged very carefully. It was perfect and moist. Its rich. Also, I had been hearing about this fabled cake for a few years now and decided to hunt it down and order. Great experience. Go a little nuts and order one for yourself $136 well spent.

I ordered 2 large White Chocolate Coconut Bundt cakes from Doans bakery last December to share with my friends at home, at my Church and at work. They are cakes made famous as the cakes gifted by Tom Cruise to his friends. I found the cakes to be extremely tasty and well worth the hype. I am strongly considering getting them again for my same friends. I highly recommend this bakery. I have not tried anything else from this bakery but if their other desserts are as good as these cakes, they are to die for!

I got this cake shipped for my bday. I got the white chocolate coconut bundt cake. I cant lie. I wanted to see if Tom Cruise had any taste in cakes. And I must say I was very happy with the purchase. If u like coconut cake, this is definitely up your alley. It could have been a little bit more moist but I must admit i might not have let it defrost long enough. I was so eager to try it. Maybe the next piece with different But even with that the cake has good flavor. I didnt really taste the white chocolate which is fine because I am not a fan of the flavor. So just tasting the coconut more fitted me fine. It is a nice pairing with ginger lemon tea imo. Overall Im happy with the purchase

I have known about Doans since 2008 / 2009 when I was living in Canoga Park. I used to head into there for coffee and a muffin before heading into my 9-5 at the time. Years later, I am STILL visiting this INCREDIBLE bakery! I am so grateful that they have survived the 2020 COVID lockdowns and the strains of the food industry during that time. They are absolutely LEGIT! I still stop by there to pick up incredible pastries to share with my friends, colleagues and family - even years about knowing about them! And you don t have to take my word for it look at all of the many others who have raved about the IMPECCABLE and personable service and awesome items that they have available for purchase. Lovely family-run bakery - slightly out of the way on the side of a busy road in Woodland Hills - but well worth a visit! They had lots of the legendary Tom Cruise cake and my goodness does it live up to the hype. Quite probably the best cake I have ever eaten, yours in a 1-2 person size for $8.

I have read so much about this bakery because of the so called now Tom Cruise Coconut cake. I saw pictures of this white chocolate Coconut Cake, even though pricey, it looks deliscious. Well, I am from So Cal and live here. My absolute favorite cake is a coconut cake. My daughter and I are planning to move to North East Tennessee in the Summer. I am planning to purchase this coconut cake for first Christmas there in TN and have shipped and surprise my boyfriend. Cant wait. I have even put a reminder on my calendar. Two years ago, read about: At the beginning of every holiday season, Tom Cruise is known to send many of his friends and co-stars a white chocolate coconut bundt cake from Doans Bakery in Woodland Hills, California. Ordered TWO White Chocolate Coconut Bundt Cakes at $109 each, one for self & one for gift to friend in Washington State, based on the Tom Cruise Favorite Gift Article. I cut up & served 1/2 of my cake at a local Chamber Christmas Party, gave several pieces to neighbors, My response & from all others, Cake TOO sweet, TOO Dense, and NOT at all what I had expected for the price. My Friend in Washington was extremely impressed that I had ordered such an extravagant gift and had high expectations, she felt very bad telling me the exact same thing, Too Sweet, Too Dense, we had all expected the icing to be more fluffy / creamy, SO VERY DISAPPOINTED. The shipping was on time and cake packaged very nicely, We all felt could have self baked something better. My home made Apple Pie & Home made Loaded Chocolate Cookies were however the Rave.......not one good thing mentioned on the Bundt Cake Pieces...I was reluctant to say what I paid ($109 each cake) and had waited weeks for the delivery. Thank you Doan s for providing our wedding cake on 10/15/22. It was SO BEAUTIFUL and tasty. Doan s was my choice because they were willing to work with our budget, but mostly because : THEY ARE SO NICE! One phone call with Marina, and I knew I liked her. I knew I could trust her to do great work. She was supportive, kind, and was on my side. They provided the cake, delivered, and placed the topper and flowers on our cake. It was a two tier red velvet cake. Oh! Did I mention it was delicious? Our guest raved about it! Thank you Doan s and Marina! I was recommended this bakery by a friend since I started working in Woodland Hills; I finally stopped by and both items I purchased were delicious. Karen (who I believe may be the owner?) greeted me so kindly and gave me recommendations on what to try. The white chocolate coconut cake was tasty (very sweet flavor) and so was my peanut butter drizzle brownie. If you don t love super sweet flavors then maybe their chocolate flavors will more suit your pallet but I was so happy with both of my treats! The prices were reasonable and I will be back!

Cake was very dry and not good at all. This review is on the white chocolate coconut bundt cake. Maybe I received a stale cake? Regardless, for the price of this VERY expensive cake, I was expecting a moist delicious cake. I had to go out and buy another cake as this was for a birthday celebration. So not worth it! No issues on delivery. The cake arrived on time and properly packaged and intact to Texas.

I ordered a single triple layer white chocolate fudge cake ($55) that serves 6-8 people and 6 pieces of coffee cake ($4 something a piece). They both were very dry. I suppose if you like it more dry this place takes the cake, literally. Had one slice of the cake and had to gave it away cuz it was too dry. I also had the coffee cake which has walnuts on top best to skip it all together cuz it was also dry. I think I wasted my $80 order. I hope the person I gave my cake to, enjoyed it MORE than I did. i dont think I will ever go back. Becuz of this i might just make my own cake. 4/14/22 UPDATE Portos has a whole round coffee cake for $9. I got ripped off sadly never coming back to Doan s again. The bday cake and coffee cake were all thrown away, none of my family liked it.

This one really lives up to the hype. Ive decided this will be my birthday cake every year moving forward. Their chocolate chip cookies are also top notch. Went in for the first time to purchase an apple pie to cheer up my daughter. The pie was delicious! The service was fantastic and friendly. We dont indulge in such treats often but when we do Doans will be at the top of the list!

Getting a pie for Thanksgiving from Doans was the most delicious, most wonderful experience Ive ever had in a bakery. I knew deciding on the Monday of Thanksgiving week to get a dutch apple pie from Doans was waaaaay too late but I was treated with kindness although they already had a 15 person wait list. So I bought a couple buntlets to assuage my disappointment. They were incredible but I ate them before I could get a pic, lol. I returned Wednesday morning to see if there were any cancellations. There werent so I bought a bunch of turkey shaped shortbread cookies and got an assurance Id get a call if there were any cancellations. I also got a chocolate pecan bar to nosh. It was better than I could ever have imagined ~ freaking sublime! Already in my happy place from the pecan bar, when I got the call that there was a (barely) broken pie for me, I was ecstatic! Now Doans wouldnt sell a pie with a broken crust to their customers but I had made a special request that Id happily take one. The pie and turkey cookies were the hit of my Thanksgiving dinner!! I believe the incredible topping on the pie is made with fairy dust ~ its just that magical. I cannot say enough heartfelt thanks to the amazing folks at Doans for making my Thanksgiving dinner the absolute BEST

I randomly stopped in to get some coffee and enjoyed every minute of my experience there. The older lady at the counter was so sweet. I got a brownie and lemon shortcake dessert with my coffee and it was delicious! But the best part was that personable feeling shopping with a small business vs my normal starbucks.. which no shade to them but the friendly feeling lacks in commercial coffee houses. This place was great!

Some of the most delicious and decadent baked goods ever (and Ive tried a lot). We always get our birthday cakes and cake pops from there, but the cupcakes are amazing too!

I ordered a variety of the baked goods to take to my father in the hospital fir the staff. The bakery staff did an amazing job. Had everything ready same day and the nurses loved everything. Would highly recommend and the service and help they provided was wonderful.

Ordered a coconut cake back in December after reading the article on the internet. I received it today, all I can say......it was totally worth the wait! Amazing cake, the best I have ever tasted. I had to try the coconut bunt cake after reading about it on several news sites. I have never met a more friendly business owner. The lady that help me sure made an impression on me on how lovely and nice she is. The cakes wow. The hype is true.

While this place is a little hard to get a hold of due to them being sooooo popular, it is worth it. They made an amazing cake for my husbands 30th birthday at a great price. The staff was very accommodating and easy to work with. I will definitely be coming back for all my custom cakes.

Wow wow wow!!! One of my friends sent this for my fiancé s birthday and it was incredible!! We got the coconut Bundt cake and it s dangerously good. He sent it through Gold Belly but I m so glad it s located just 20 minutes from my house. I ll definitely be visiting and trying out some other items.

We were visiting family in the area and were so glad we stopped to get dessert. They have amazing baked goods! We picked up lemon bars, mini pumpkin pie, rocky road brownies and fudge brownies. Excellent friendly service. You have to stop by and pick up dessert! <3

Ordered a Key Lime Pie for a special occasion and it was outstanding. Certainly the best one Ive ever had. All our guests loved it! The service was outstanding and everyone very friendly. Highly recommend!

We ordered a cake for our friends 60th birthday. The cake was delivered on time and undamaged. However, for this expensive of a cake and being a specialty cake we were very disappointed. The cake was dry and not that tasty. The frosting was delicious. I would never ordered this again....the coconut bundt cake. Sorry to have to write a bad review.

The best ever! I have been going there since I was a kid. My favorite is the cloud 9 cookies. They are absolutely amazing! I order them for my family and have to hide a box in my closet because they love them so much! The family that owns it is the absolute sweetest. The picture I attached is of their white chocolate buttercream cake. ABSOLUTELY TO DIE FOR! Amazing coffee, cookies, cupcakes, EVERYTHING. They have baked cakes for several celebrities in the past as well... this place is the real deal.

WONDERFUL baked goods served by the friendliest staff! The owner is a gem who clearly loves what she does and her food is fantastic. Seriously - FANTASTIC. The rocky road brownie is my new obsession. It absolutely blew my mind. You will love it here!!

More than a design aesthetic, it is evident Doans Bakery actually is the quality homely establishment that others can only strive to imitate. The level of care put into the baked goods both in taste and in visual appeal is similarly placed in even the most simple coffee (tho I contend that an even roasted coffee is not so simple an affair). It is clear that this place is also very personal to those who work there, as you are treated to folks whom have have a deep appreciation and understanding of their menu; which goes beyond a professional training regimen to demonstrate a staff that is dedicated to the craft on display. I cannot empathize how excellent an experience is created here, and with a seasonal rotation of pastry, there is always a reason for a revisit. Rich sweet chocolate bunts, adventurously spiced coffee cake, and tart (yet still a welcome creaminess) lemon custard cakes, there is a blend of quality and atmosphere to satisfy any willing to pay a visit. The multiple awards and accolades of Doans Bakery are well deserved both in product and service. Grab a simple coffee, take a seat in their cozy dinning area, and witness the otherwise hectic traffic of Ventura Blvd become something slower and a little more peaceful.

A marvelous new find thats been there forever! Friendly, helpful and delicious! The lemon cheesecake tarts are sublime and the vanilla birthday cake (bought on the fly!) was beautiful and memorably tasty. In this age of big box chain stores, a terrific family run business deserves the communitys support -- that Doans!

I ordered a bday cake from here for my own birthday. I had my boyfriend pick it up. The owner was very accommodating. She helped me pick out the best cake based on my likes. She even kept the bakery open for an extra hour so my boyfriend could pick up the cake. He enjoyed the bakery so much that he ended up picking up a box of goodies along with the cake that he took back to work with him.
