The Vegan Joint - Woodland Hills
About the Company

Established in 2006, The Vegan Joint proudly stands as a minority woman-owned restaurant, boasting three locations across Los Angeles. Our first and oldest location rests in the Palms area of West LA/Culver City, positioned between Overland & Motor on National Blvd. The second establishment resides in Woodland Hills, situated on De Soto and Ventura Blvd near the Target Department Store. Our third location is nestled on 10th Street, right at the heart of Downtown's fashion district.

Across all three sites, our menus brim with diverse flavors, centered around Thai vegan-based cuisine. At The Vegan Joint, we offer an extensive array of dishes, including delectable breakfast options such as burritos, pancakes, and hash browns—all available.

I have been a customer at Vegan Joint for at least 15 years and I cant believe that I have never reviewed them because their food is so delicious and I always have such a great experience!! Through the years I have had many favorites from them. Their tropical pancakes were always a favorite with the chicken and maple syrup. Their potato and omelette dishes. Their taco and burritos. Then I went through a phase of getting their burgers. Each of their burgers were so amazing that I couldnt pick just one of them, but I would say , the black bean burger I ate the most! Then I went through a phase with their wraps, and I loved every one of them, but their grilled veggie wrap and their raw wrap were always my favorites. I always switch off my burgers and wraps with fries on the side and their garlic fries are amazing but their regular fries and sweet potato fries. I still get with every order. In the past couple of years I have been obsessed with the yellow curry and the fresh spring rolls and green papaya salad!!! I usually get my dog a treat too, and he loves the chicken drumsticks or just a side of the tofu chicken. I really cant say enough good things about this place Employees there are always so friendly and courteous! The owner is so sweet and I love it when she happens to be there when I visit. :0) Oh yeah, and the vibe of the place is really cool! They painted new murals recently. Vegetarian options: There are so many options for vegetarians it s unbelievable Dietary restrictions: I am vegan, but I also eat gluten-free. There are numerous gluten-free options here Parking: I have a big van and there is always parking in the underground parking garage

THE VEGAN JOINT (Woodland Hills) is intimate and delicious. Their recently redecorated, partially underground location is part of a small chain established by Rattans P, in Culver City (2006). Five years later Rattans opened in Woodland Hills. Downtown LA came in 2015. The mostly organic, recently updated, vegan menu is a mix of Asian and American comfort foods. I enjoyed my childhood favorite: fried chicken and pancakes. Yes, breaded and fried vegan chicken patties, with a stack of vegan pancakes, all to be smother within soy butter and maple syrup. (Sometimes life is fair.) The (soy) beef and sliced fried potatoes tastes remarkably like mamas Saturday dinner, only hers was made from chuck steak. The vegan Spring Rolls are as good as I remembered from Won Kow, a Chicago Chinese restaurant, my family visited most Sundays, during my childhood. The selection of soups, sandwiches, and wraps, all provide a satisfying, and delicious experience. Drop by on long or bad day. Look at the menu and order anything... anything. You wilI feel better. The alcove, with its ground level view of De Soto Avenue, provides a comfortable separation from lifes cacophony. Servers are knowledgeable and usually friendly. Although, at lunch time, this is a very busy place. Reservations are not accepted. Take-out is available and maybe the better choice. Parking underground is free, easy, and ADA compatible. Enter from Ventura Blvd, turn left (West), and drive under the building and make the first turn left (South) into the under building parking. The well marked restaurant door is on the West wall. Both the patio and indoor seating are wheelchair accessible, as is, the gender neutral bathroom. And yes, they have vegan cakes, cookies, soft drinks, coffee and tea. Dietary restrictions: When possible, the chef will modify the recipe to your dietary requirements. Parking: Park under the building and enter the restaurant through the green door. Kid-friendliness: Have a few children here. They seem to like the food. Wheelchair accessibility: Everything is wheelchair compatible.

Now the garlic fries were great, along with the cake I ordered as a dessert. The UNFORTUNATE thing is that the chicken pattie was soggy when it arrived, and my older sons chicken burger had HAIR IN IT! inedible!

I have been to the Vegan Joint a few times now and it is definitely growing on me! The prices are a little higher than I would have hoped however you always get great quality food that is prepared fresh! I have tried the grilled chicken dinner and the friend chicken dinner and both are delicious. They come with your choice of brown rice or baked potatoes and steamed veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, cucumber). Also you get sweet syrup to drizzle over the chicken. The vegan tacos are simple yet excellent although the guacamole that comes with it seems to be more like blended avocados.

We wanted to sit outside. I went in to order and was told I had to pay up front. I did so and was told the food would be delivered to our table. So, assuming it would be normal-like service, I left a 20% tip. What was delivered was a paper sack with all the food packed in to-go containers, along with two transparent napkins and some heap plastic utensils. Hardly restaurant service, more like a to-go picnic outside. Then there was the food. I ordered the chips and guacamole, figuring a Vegan place would made it nice and fresh. WRONG. What I got was two tablespoons of a sickly-green goo, obviously out of a bottle days ago, in a little plastic container. It tasted like watered-down green sauce, more chemically than natural. The Tofu Larb was ok, but would have been much better had the tofu been small dice instead of chunks. It would have absorbed the sauce much better. All in all, wont be returning here, as I can get much better at a Whole Foods deli counter.

I get it the location isnt the best spot, but maybe move to a busier part of Woodland Hills?? This place was a cute little cafe style eatery, but my choice of meal was horrible, I ordered the pepperd steak burger with house sauce, when it arrived at our table it was not a burger style sandwich but small soy based pieces covered in a brown sugar mix which soaked the bun so in essence it was a sugary sloppy joe, I told the server I could not eat it, she smiled and said sorry but when we came to pay for the meal it was still on the check, I said nothing as Im a Britt lol, I think they just need to be more skilled in customer service.

I was not expecting to find such an tasty menu when staying in town for a couple of days. Not only was the quality of the food top notch, but the variety of flavors and dishes. The sauces were excellent, and it was refreshing to be able to order anything on the menu without having to ask constantly if anything was vegan. I have no real critiques, hence the score. Apart from the parking, I didnt have a bad experience. I even found myself buying some of the snacks to go.

BEWARE VEGANS! My first time eating at The Vegan Joint, as I heard their food was decent ordered a beef burger with fries and the famous chicken tacos. Not only was the food awful but it looked freakin weird! The soy beef on the burger was white and not in the form of a patty but sliced, little white pieces. The fries tasted funny, like they were warmed in a microwave. Why evenwait 15 minutes just to warm up food?? I know it wasn t freshly cooked should have taken 5 minutes. Secondly, I took one bite of the taco I orderd, and I almost threw up. It was cold and unseasoned. I kid you not, this place is the worst junk food vegan joint I ever experienced. The place was also quite dirty. Vegans, if you want some good junk food once in a while, try World Veg One in Pasadena, Fresh brothers vegan sliders [impossible burger] or Bodhi Thai in Beverly Hills, or even Vegan Glory, which is not my favorite, but at least the food is worthy. Don t waste your time squandering your money at this place.

Great place!!! I only had 2 appetizers since I was killing some time but needed a quick bite. Grilled vegetable dumplings and french fries was my go to and it was perfect! The soy sauce the dumplings came with is BOMB! Oh, add some spice to it that they have available on every table for an extra kick. Everything on the menu looks so good especially the Rad Nar. My hair salon is so close, I will definitely be back to try it more. Im in downtown often so Ill look forward to visiting DTLA location as well.

They had a lot of variety. It was difficult for me to choose. In the end I chose the omelet, which was delicious. And some tropical pancakes that I didnt like as much, but they were good. Fast and very pleasant service.

Tasty dishes served in abundance and in a happy atmosphere. We could not have had a better lunch experience. If I had known Vegan food was this delicious, I would have been eating it all along.

Highly recommend. The Pumpkin Curry is incredible. Honestly, this is a must try vegan restaurant. I go at least once a month. If it was closer to my house, I would go all the time. I ve tried ten or more dishes and a couple appetizers. Everything is delicious. For a vegan restaurant they have a large menu. Also the blue berry and banana pancakes are incredible. I m gonna have to go again ASAP!

There is so much that they offer. From breakfast items, to vegan chicken dinners to tacos, burgers to other Asian cuisine. There is lots of heavy protein options (seitan, tofu, soy beef/chicken, tempeh) there is something for everyone. I reccommend you try their chicken spring rolls. It tasted so fresh.

Yum yum yum! Great fried chicken, vegan fish, and chicken sate. If you ask me, stay clear of the beef. It s white and weird. Lots of the other stuff is real good though!
