Harold's Chicken #55 Express

Yesterday, I ordered from here through Uber Eats since it was a holiday. I was in the surprise of a lifetime. I woke from my sleep with food poison. I will never eat from here again. Also, the food was cold and the fries were hard.

Horrible food. Bought $20 worth of wings and fish. Both were hard and tasteless. I don't know why they're in business. I wanted to avoid the crowd at the real Harold's on 87th. I should have gone to the one on 103rd and Halsted. At least the food is excellent, although the service is bad. I guess you can't have everything on the South Side. 🤔

I literally just came from the Harold’s and I asked for a gizzard a large gizzard they gave me half gizzards and half I don’t know what this is. It looks like somebody chewed it up and then put it back on my plate. My first time there and my mf last time. I will not recommend at all.

First I don’t like giving bad reviews but I should have know something was wrong ordering online and it was ready in about 10-15 minutes. I specifically said do not fry hard , lemon pepper and mild sauce. None!

I ordered two extra sides of mild sauce , gave a tip , it was not a freshly cooked ordered, you can tell it was refried or it’s old and been sitting, as high as food is, why would people do things like this to people’s orders, thus is not good customer service and I’m pretty sure if the shoe was on the other foot they would feel the same way.

I understand mistakes can happen but at the expense of how high food is and the health of a customer , it is not right or professional.

It has me feeling sick to my stomach and the money I spent.

This needs to be discussed and changes made immediately.

Lacking Organization & Leadership
There is a label over a window that states: "PICK UP: -DoorDash -UberEats -GrubHub -Takeouts". This window is apparently unmanned. It has no dedicated server there to acknowledge pick ups and disburse them. Only when the main cashier isn't busy, will she choose to meander somewhat near this window where at which point if you were in any kind of a line is no longer relevant. Whoever can throw their phone up to the window screen first to show her their pick up details will get attention. Needless to say, I won't be back. But hopefully this gives you pause on ever placing a pick up order at this location.

Percy needs to address the QC issues at the express store ASAP! I placed an order through Uber Eats for a 7 wing fried hard with mild sauce. I get my order and had a half tray drenched in KETCHUP...NO MILD SAUCE & CHICKEN SOFT. I stopped going here because the food quality has been bad here for quite a while. Time to put Harold's on pause. Tired of spending money and not getting what I paid for!

This is the best Harold's Chicken in the City...hands-down!!! They had to switch locations temporarily while their new one is being prepared but the quality of the food has not suffered. They are currently located next to the petrol station on 87th and State street. I really appreciate being able to place my order and pay using the convenient kiosk. However, there is a cashier available should you prefer the personal touch and don't mind waiting in line. The 1/2 dark with mild sauce and lemon pepper was fresh, hot, crispy and seasoned just right! The white bread, toasted by the hot chicken being placed on top of it, along with the hot fries, hits the spot every time. I also get 2 pickled jalapeños with my chicken dinner...YUM! The tiny, complimentary cole slaw is never enough for me, so I order a half pint size. It is creamy, crunchy, and sweet...Delicious! A perfect pairing with the savory chicken. You choose how you want your dinner. Like just wings? Order a wings dinner. Want sauce in the side? They can do that. Ketchup and black pepper? Ok. Only eat white meat? Choose all white. Want a mixture? Get a 1/2 mixed dinner. Only want 1/4(2- piece)? They offer it. Need a bucket or pan for a large gathering? Please place your order in advance for fresh food without the long wait. There are plenty of drinks to choose from and the counter display refrigerator offers many sweet treats for dessert. From banana pudding to butter cookies and homemade pound cake. I only get to have this one or two times a year and I choose this location over most others. If you are in the mood for tasty fried chicken and don't need the frills, get to Harold's on 87th Street. You will not be disappointed.

First off they don’t answer the phone, won’t take calls for pickup
I get there I order a 6 wing and a 12 wing
Young lady ask me do I want fries with my 12 wing because it doesn’t come with fries. I say ofcourse I want fries. Then she ask if I want a box of fries or a tray of fries. 🤔 so I say box to keep it simple. Charges me over 6 bucks for the fries.
I tell her I want mild sauce and lemon pepper , my total comes to 45.56.
I walk away to the shell station next door to buy a 2 liter , come immediately back and she’s calling my ticket. I get the food home. The 6 wing is normal, has mild sauce and lemon pepper on my order. The 12 wing is packed in a white box with mild and lemon pepper. And the fries are in a second white box plain no salt no sauce.
And the wings all had feathers. 🪶 smh.
I think you are better off purchasing 3 six wing orders. I was robbed

I ordered my food through Door Dash. Once I got it and started eating, I noticed that there’s a piece of hair in my food. I tried calling the number that’s listed online and on Door Dash for this Harold’s location, and they won’t answer the phone. Unacceptable & disgusting. I want my money back.

Good food & svc as always. Only reason for 4 stars is they were only accepting cash for walk-ins. Cashier advised to order thru storefront app. App stated no longer accepting orders for the day. Cashier checked on her end & it was still accepting orders for the day. Went next door into gas station to use ATM.

Visited their food truck in the plaza today and the cashier told me it was $40 for a 4 &6 wings dinner. I asked her why it was so much and she changed the price to $33.00. After paying she only gave me a credit card receipt and ticket number. When I asked for an itemized receipt it stated the price was 28$. People are being overcharged and if you don’t ask for an itemized receipt they get away with it.

I am highly upset. We paid for 2 orders of 7 wings and an order of okra. We got home and we had the chicken but not the okra...we live 22 minutes away on another side of town. This was noticed only after we picked up our children and then headed home. $3.00 gone to waste. They staple the bag like the order was correct and we had never had an issue of missing food before. Maybe they wanted that to be their tip since we denied a tip on the kiosk. Not cool at all.

I ordered a liver and gizzard's mix It was awful I spent $13 I have 4 gizzards and 9 piece of liver that was overcooked I asked for ketchup and hot sauce and they drowned it no flavor the worst meal I have ever received from a Herald's chicken And I've been in Chicago over 30 years I stood at the window and stopped them put the food in the grill oil He pulled the basket up put so many in my tray and left food in the basket I didn't say anything because I thought it was another order what a rip-off a disgusting meal after 10 hours of work no more for me ever at that Herald's Simply disgusting

This is the only Harold's I will order from. They have the real deal recipe for fixin that chicken. They always get my order right, no sauce on the chicken only lemon pepper and ketchup and hot sauce on the fries which are always hot and cooked just right. Keep it up!!

The cashier is touching money that's been all over the world, and then going and putting paper sheets in the food trays and sauce on the food. Cashier and other female laughing and talking over the food while preparing your food. I reported it to the manager, the owner's son, it seemed like I was speaking Spanish to him. Billings is his name. He never said he would address it. Instead, he brought the cashier to speak to me. I did not entertain that. Their cook plays with his cell phone a lot too while laughing and joking, spitting all over the food. I've given them three chances to get it right. Each time I've had to point out there unsanitary habits. It's not worth getting sick. I'm not going back. I'm contacting the health department. Stop patronizing this place. Harold's is disgusting.

I've got raw chicken last night 2/14. When you call to make aware of the problem they wsbt to argue with you. One thing I do know since lhe location at 100 W 87th closed the food at this location is hit or miss. I've got old refried chicken black spots on my chicken. I DEFINITELY would not recommend this Harold's express. I never thought Nr Petcy would sell the awful chicken

The waiting area was clean and spacious. They were busy. I got my order wrong in the kiosk thing so I waited an hour for my food. They hooked me up though!! I'ma go in there next time and order with the cute thick one at the counter 😉

I bought 18 wings order. Which didn't come with fries I should have been told . I also ordered 2 sm gizzard fried hard , which wasn't. The fries in those two orders were undone and oily. I give this Harold's a must not go.

Young lady was very rude and impatient when asked questions about the menu and when we called to place the order. It was not busy at all so I didn't understand the urgency.

I really love this Harold's. The food be fresh and hot. They put the right amount of seasons and condiments on it. I usually order through uber eats but I went in a few times. This the only place that don't charge a lot for their wings. The staff seem a little nonchalant but hey, it's food service. It sucks!

Coleslaw here is terrible and there was a crazy lady inside the store causing trouble when I asked someone to put her out they just looked at us then the customers were getting ready to beat her up and then I had to stop that don't go here it's not worth it

The rude bumpy faced girl wasn't there and it was a relief. She is one of the main reasons that I don't like that location. Take too long cooking food I know breast is most longer piece of meat to cook but it shouldn't take that long we was in there over an hour waiting on my food I had wings my coworker has a half a chicken I have a chicken shouldn't take that long it was a lot of people coming there for Uber eats get more food faster than the people that's ordering the food before Uber each evening come if you're going to do Uber East then just do Uber eats but they should have a separate from those that are already ordered in food and the cook cannot cook the food was very salty My chicken was saw to my co-worker chicken with salty or service on cooking either you need to retrain or find another cook

Its not the Harold's I grew up with, but this is one of the best locations on the south side that may be safer than the low end Harold's on 55th, 63rd. Cashier's are friendly and appreciative of a decent tip.

Placed a $50 order for a bucket of chicken, told them to add mold sauce on the side and even paid for a tub of mild and guess what. No mild sauce not even on the food.

🍗 is off the chain. Especially getting mild sauce on the chicken and fries

I had to wait an entire hour for my food!!!! It only takes 20 minutes for wings to cook. The wings are already precooked as it is and I was forced to wait from 5:59 until 6:52 to get my food!!! This is unacceptable!!! The workers are rude and ignorant and we’re no help!!! I watched as everyone else got their food and when I asked about mine the cashier was oblivious to everything!!! The food was not good at all!!! Whoever owns this Harold’s needs an entire new staff along with faster service!!! It’s Harold’s Chicken EXPRESS right?!?!? SO GIVE ME EXPRESS SERVICE especially after paying MY MONEY!!!

Just waited 2 hours for food that I ordered online. Never received my food. The employees where no help, they didn't try to rectify the situation. No one has mask on

If I could leave 0 stars I would. This has to be the worst Harold's chicken ever. The staff is just awful. They are rude and have no sense or urgency not to mention the customer service is non existent. The wait time is ridiculous. I order my food through door dash the wait time said 13 minutes for a pickup that turned into an 1 and a half wait for 2 things a 7 wing and 1/2 mix. Absolutely ridiculous. The 3 ladies that work in the front the blond the one with pink hair and the other young girl walk back and forth ignoring everyone. Mr. Billings you truly need to train your staff on how to treat paying customers. Will not be back and it's a shame because you want to be able to shop and eat in your own neighborhood but clearly that is impossible at this location. Poor poor customer service.

As long as you order online, they are pretty decent with the timing. About a 15 minute or less wait.

This is the worst location for service located within a gas station with very limited parking spaces. Waiting time was very long and staff must be trained to give pleasant service to customers. I will not visit this location ever again.

The staff is the ignorant. Tried calling in an order the thing the worker said, answering the phone is " Come in to place the order." Not " Thank you for calling Harold's on 87th and State."

Today's youth is just truly sad. Upon arrival the people working are just gossiping. The owner really needs to scree the staff better or monitor the CCTV.

I guess loosing customers will be more of a clue🤫
