Regional street eats of Northern China served in a low-lit, loftlike space with a BYO policy.
The lamb skewer was delicious, and so was the hand-stretched noodles with beef in hot & sour sauce. The marinated pork roujiamo was also yummy but the meat was a little dry. On the bright side, the chili oil was a good compliment to the meal and the food got out relatively fast after ordering. Overall, it's an another hole-in-a-wall restaurant in Chinatown that serves food other than the usual Cantonese food like many other places in the area.

Food was good, but not the greatest in Chinatown. We split the beef skewers, noodles with beef, beef buns, marinated peanuts, fried peanuts, and marinated potato slices. It was noon on a Saturday and they were out of the original noodles we wanted to order, as well as out of banana for the smoothie. And the smoothie didn’t come out until we were fully done with our meal. The food was good, but not great enough to entice me back. The buns were the best part of the meal, be sure to add vinegar! And they make all the buns handmade upon order! The beef dishes all were heavy on cumin flavor so if that is not your favorite spice, this isn’t the place for you.

Come with high expectations, but sadly it was not beating our expectations compared to Lao Xi’an in Boston. It is still a good local Chinese restaurant with traditional Xi’an cuisine. We just got spoiled. You may find better dishes you like. I saw one local guy ordering 4 same 凉粉 dishes, I bet it must be very good.

This place was highly recommended on Instagram. Although I was so thrilled to leave my house and rush to Chinatown I think this first stop I would rate is 3/5. The Lamb and beef skewers were great but had too much fat on the skewers. If you like grissle or fat on your meat you will like this.
I ordered beef skewers 2 for 5.00 although the menu prices are not updated.
Lamb skewers 2 for 5.00
And cumin lamb flatbread which was 6.00. The flatbread has no seasoning or sauce and is dry. I am a true foodie and would like to hear ur experience

No punches pulled here. Sure the service is a bit brusque and the single TV is emanating a delightfully incomprehensible Chinese game show, but these guys aren't here to make you feel like royalty. They're here to whip up in 8 minutes the best bowl of biang biang noodles you've ever had in your life and leave it at that. Business is business. At the end of the day this is a place that makes some really really really good Shaanxi specialties.

I got one of their hand stretched noodles for hot and sour sauce bc they were out of their more popular noodle dish but the noodle itself was so fresh and delicious. I did ask for less spice thinking it would be too spicy but I regret that bc the dish was lacking flavor so I have to add a lot of chili oil, making it a bit too oily, but still tasty regardless. I tried their spicy cucumber salad, it was alright. Their lamb skewers were good. I did not really like their dumplings as much. Overall still a great place to eat! The fresh noodles are worth it. Oh and the price is really good for the amount of food!

I came here with my girlfriend and her family we mostly wanted to try something new and we saw this place, I will say the food is very authentic (at least I think it is) I was a little overwhelmed on the fact that most of these items I never heard of but nonetheless I still put my order in, the service was fine although I strongly feel the noodle could've maybe had a tiny bit more flavor but the meat was good and delicious so it wasn't all that bad.

Very bad service and very dirty place cups were very dirty and the building had flies in it would not come again they forced us (and just us not any other customer in the building) to TIP and pay before hand and they were extremely rude they forced a tip out of us. They took the food of my friends hands when they realized it wasnt meant for us (even though we ordered the exact same thing) they took the food and put it in a bag for someone else, note that my friends had already BIT into the food and they took it and served it to another person very disgusting and when the customer complained about the food being bit into they had a whole argument in front of the restaurant. Never coming again.

This place was a hole in the wall. Could have used a few coats of paint and maybe a refresh of booths or something but for what they lacked in appearance they made up for in food and service. The servers although English was there second language and lacking had no problem communicating with us. They were attentive and courteous. As for the food...good God it was legit delicious! We shared several skewers, the pulled noodles dish and some potbstickers and everything was tasty and very affordable.

Went with my two sisters and 8 year old niece. As soon as we sat down the woman came up to the table and said, “no rice, no chicken.” We believe this occurred because we are Black. It was really disappointing that we were treated that way. Other people began to stare at us and shrugged their shoulders. No one else received that message when they sat down. Then she gave us plates with forks — chop stick wasn’t an option until we asked. It felt like she made assumptions about us as soon as we reached the table. As we reflected on our treatment we could sense that there was no malicious intent, but that the impact hurt. In the future, we hope that they are able to take this as a learning moment. You should not assume when you see Black people that they just want chicken and rice. It was a challenge to explain to the child at the table why she treated us that way. Great food, bad service.

Very authentic food and service!! I live out of state and ensure I come here every time I am in town aka I come to Chicago specifically for #60 the pork and beef noodles. I cannot even explain it.. you pick your own spice level and it has meat, eggs, tomatoes, and their hand stretched noodles. The flavor is so full, they are my favorite noodles I have ever had. We also tried some of their side dishes, like bok choy and dumplings, and cold vinegar and sesame sauce noodles. All of their products are made fresh, their homemade noodles are what set these dishes apart. It is a different type of chinese cuisine than what I am used to, highly highly recommend to anyone in the area. Service is not like most american places and it is a bit more stand offish, but servers are still very friendly.

I wish I could rate this place better, but I can’t. The place is run down, which by itself wouldn’t be a problem if the food and service was good. Unfortunately, that just wasn’t the case. Ultimately, the server was a bit callous and the food was nothing special. She even made all of our food “low spice” without asking us because she assumed that we wouldn’t like spicy foods? I’m not sure, the interaction was a bit strange. To their credit, The hand stretched noodles themselves were actually incredible, but unfortunately, the sauce consisted of a bit of soy sauce, sesame oil a heaping load of sesame paste and a splash of vinegar. Not inedible, just bland and uninspired. Luckily I had some leftovers that I could throw in a pan and spice up myself, but overall I was disappointed with my visit.

In shadows dim we ventured there,
To dine and share an evening's fare.
But oh, the waitress, cold and mean,
Turned our night to bitter scene.
She pressed us hard for more to buy,
Her motives clear, we wondered why.
And when no tip I chose to give,
She forced her own, with naught to forgive.
A scene she made, a wild display,
To wrest a tip, she sought her way.
She argued loud, with voice so shrill,
And chased us out, beyond her will.
Through restaurant and street she roared,
Her insults fierce, her anger soared.
With words obscene, respect she lacked,
On my dear child, her spite attacked.
Her cruel remarks, her scornful bite,
Turned evening’s joy to dreaded night.
To this place, heed well my call,
Avoid its shadow, one and all.

We went there and the waiter and waitress were not nice at all, they tried to make us buy more than what we wanted and, in the end, when I didn't want to pay any tip, the waitress selected 15 % tip even after I selected no tip then she made a scene to try to charge me again in order to have a tip. I don't recommend.

我是西安人。相信我,别来这里
事情实报在下
We were super excited to come here after going to the one in Naperville and loving the food. I’m from Xi’an and the one in Naperville was very authentic so I definitely recommend going to that one if you can, or many of the other decent restaurants in china town.
We ordered 6 things and only the 肉夹馍 (flatbread bun) was passable; the cold noodles and (凉拌腐竹)tofu skin were completely made wrong.
连这两道西安名菜都做不出来的餐厅,你敢信吗?
The tofu strips had solid clumps of salt, which I didn’t know was possible. And the braised beef noodles we ordered smelled like raw beef. 我尝了一口现在都他妈的在恶心。
Beside the food the old waitress serving us thinks she was entitled to our tip; when I tapped no tip because the food was bad, she took the tablet and gave herself a 15% tip quickly before completing the transaction. Then argued with me about how we can’t not give a tip, seemingly she thinks it was audacious of me to not tip her after a bad experience. After a lot of arguing she agreed to give me back the tip in cash, the whole time complaining and grumbling about how our business wasn’t welcome. But the food wasn’t welcome by our tongues either, so.
她觉得她帮我们去了一道小菜就deserve tip 去是你应该做的也是你的选择, 给小费是我们的选择。 还说不想要我们的生意, 我呸你给我钱我都不想要你那狗菜

We ordered sliced marinated beef, lamb soup, biang biang noodles, cumin lamb flatbread, cumin beef flatbread, lamb skewer, noodles with tomato and egg sauce. They were all 5/5 in my book. Flavor was all there. Dishes were savory and delish. Portions were just right, no complaints. Prices are fair. No we did not get any food poisoning.

I gave 5 stars but obviously I can only speak to what I had and the person I was with got the same thing as me. We got the (Dan Dan?) flat noodles with lamb. Hand pulled noodles right before you get served. Simply amazing. We also got the hambao (flat bread bun with ground lamb). Both were soooo good. I have lived in Taiwan and Thailand and San Francisco. Their noodles, are as good as any I have had, at this price point or any price for that matter. The person I was with though maybe not as picky about Chinese food as me said she had never had noodles that good (I think she was refering to Asian noodles only). Whatever, this place is as good as the social media hype.

Food was great. I got the braised beef noodle soup and chicken skewers . Loved both of them. However, from the second we walked in the door the service was incredibly poor and the atmosphere was hostile. To top of the entire meal, the staff in the front argued with two customers the entire meal as they were stating they did not order food that was brought out and would not pay for it. This furthered was worsened as she began yelling to other customers about the situation in mandarin since the conflicting situation involved an English speaking customer. She finally let them go after making them pay the extra charges and not ask any more questions. Due to this, we received little care directly as she was preoccupied talking about the other customers. When we finally were finished we went to pay and she looked over the machine to see how much we tipped and then proceeded to say “ok bye” when it did not satisfy her. Pretty poor employee but great food

It's Chinatown, so don't expect the place to be sparkling clean.
The biggest downside is probably that they (or the system) keep charging us extra sales taxes secretly on the check (as in 11%+). Definitely not pleased about it but we just didn't want to make a scene during our visits.

Most dishes has strong flavors, like the BianBian noodle and their braised lamb chop. But other noodles are actually not so heavy on sauce, instead you can taste the original flavor of the food itseld. The special thing is here everything taste like what they supposed to, instead all dishes taste a like. I think their cold green bean noodle (凉皮)and fried noodle (炒拉皮) are all very yummy. Their flat bread lamb soup and lamb soup noodles are white soup with plain taste. Their 羊杂汤 is also super tasty with strong lamb flavor.

The beef lamb and tofu noodle was very, very greasy and not fresh The meat was poor; a lot of gristle. Almost no vegetables. The walked near the kitchen and it smelled awful...like rotten meat or bad body odor. Everything was dirty... the floors, the table, the bathroom. The waitress was rude and we didn't get our drinks until after we ate our meal, and even then I had to ask twice. The waitress demanded I give her 18% bc we were in a party of 9. The bill totalled $50 for 2 people. It is a terrible example of a Chinese restaurant.

We come to China Town once in a while for a certain cravings, but our first experience with this place is actually with its location at Naperville. Comparatively speaking the China Town location is much smaller in size and menu offerings. But the food quality is about the same.
I am not sure what all these 5 star reviews are all about, the food here is 4 stars at the best. The 5 stars are for the hand made noodles and maybe the pot stickers. Everything else is just middle of the road for me. The flat bread is ok, it is more less like a stuffed gordita. I actually prefer the Cubano over this flat bread for the texture. The ZhaJiang noodle taste is a little on the light side but perfect hand made noodles. The BiangBiang noodle taste is right on but there are not enough ingredients to match its $13 price tag (in China Town). We didn't try the skewers but I think the other specialized skewer restaurants in China Town probably have more to offer.
One thing I can say, the service is super fast and all of food came up within 10 mins back to back.

I haven't had the chance to enjoy the wonders of traditional Xi'an cuisine in such a long time, but Xi'an Cuisine really brought back so many childhood memories. I tried their vegetable and refreshing liangpi / cold noodles, and they were both delicious and, as the name implies, perfectly refreshing and the best possible meal for a hot summer day. The texture of the normal liangpi was slightly better (the vegetable ones were a bit mushier than a traditional liangpi), but both were incredible. They mixed the sauces wonderfully, with a great balance of the richness of the sesame, acidity from the black vinegar, and slight kick of the chili oil. My parents also tried out their lamb skewers and lamb intestine paomo (羊杂泡馍), and absolutely loved them!! My dad even said that their lamb skewers were some of the best he's had in the United States. And, to make things even better, everything is incredibly affordable with phenomenal portion sizes. You'll definitely leave Xi'an Cuisine feeling full and satisfied!! I can't wait to come back to Chicago Chinatown just to visit this spot again.

My mom got stomach sick after half hour ate over here. Don't try beef noodles. The place quite dirty. We would never back.

It's not really Xi'an or shan'xi food. The waitress is rude.

Highly recommend you to try their flatbreads! Noodles are great too.

One Rougamo costs nearly $6 after tax. You probably need to eat 3 to be full. Expensive and not authentic.

Yummy! There are certain dishes that this restaurant does very well, and I suggest you stick with ordering those.
1. Cumin lamb flatbread (ask for added cilantro +/- jalapeños)
2. #53 on the menu, the hand pulled noodle dish, + add lamb for a small extra cost.
The value is very good! We ordered 4 items to share between 2 people and the total cost was only $25 before tax.
One thing to note is that the service can be a tad slow due to there only being 1 lady who services the entire dining room, but given the number of customers she is juggling, it is actually remarkable how fast she moves.
