Pepe's Mexican Restaurant

It is extremely expensive if you buy anything with steak in it. My favorite is the taco salad. However, that is not what I ordered. I ordered two beef tacos, one hard shell, and one soft shell. The beef did not taste authentic. It was extremely mushy with a watery texture. I had to pay $1.50 for sour cream . I had fries which were hot and a drink. I do not recommend the beef tacos. The hard shell taco was the best.

Enjoyed the shrimp fajitas. This is one of my favorites! Note--salt was on the table, none needed. The flavors were seasoned to perfection. This meal came with corn tortilla shells. I've never had anything bad from this Pepe's!

Got off the plane from Atlanta first stop was Pepe's I got two tacos my daughter got the Mayan the food was delicious the service was good the waitress was one who had been there since day one on 79th and Indiana and it was just good to come home to good tasting tacos from Pepe's I'm super excited about being in Chicago and eating some of the food I can't get in Atlanta

This place is crazy! This is the worst Pepe’s in the chi! Spent 50 bucks for 2 burritos and 1 steak taco which wasn’t the issue the problem was both burritos had cheddar cheese on them! Called them the next day because they closed and they did nothing but said we’ve made our burritos with cheddar cheese for years u have to request the Mexican cheese that belongs on a burrito! lol what a joke! Not to mention they don’t even have margaritas! I think a better Mexican restaurant would suit this community!

Very good food 🌯✨🤎 the crispy tortilla tacos 🌮 are small, though yummy and delicate... beautiful and clean dining room 🎄⭐🎼 very comfortable. The 79th bus stop is out front of the restaurant :).

This is not a very good location even though no two Pepe's ever taste the same but this one taste like nothing. These were the blandest tacos I've ever had. I had the chicken and the ground beef tacos both tasted like unseasoned meat. The chicken is dark meat tasted like chicken leg meat yuck. The food deserves a 1 but since the restrooms and location was extremely clean I'm giving it 2.

Literally been coming here my whole life and they just lied in my face. They now have rats and roaches and I’m just so over this place. Find a new Pepe’s. I’m reporting them to the health department. Mientras Las personas ahorita son nuevas decidieron que trabajas por 25 años nunca ver las. No quiere comer la comida y pago mucho es terrible. 😞

They have the worst customer service I was told my food would be ready in 15min I left work In 20min and it took me 20 to get there and they never even started and no one was there when I asked about why it wasn’t done they had a nasty attitude and said do you want us to make it now or what no type of consideration about me being on my lunch the drive I made to the or anything I will not be back the lady at the front was so rude like I owed her

Ordered beans and rice no cheese. Got cheese! Asked host to have it removed and they replied that they didn’t take my order. Then she went on to have it corrected. You all work for same company help each other out.

I recommend the burrito dinner with beans and rice. Also I suggest paying with cash to avoid an extra fee for card usage.

I’ve been trying to order through door dash. Consider adding the full menu to the app and allow the comments to be enabled there’s no way to customize your food without having to call and make adjustments over the phone which takes away the convenience of using the app. Also someone yelled at me on the phone because I didn’t know how to add an item to my order that wasn’t available on the app. I’m a returning customer for years everyone in there should know me by now do better!

Lady hung up the phone on me yesterday simply because I wanted black beans, she got mad and said " We don't have any black beans" then hung up, and wouldn't answer the phone again 😑

One of my absolute favorite spots in the city for authentic mexican food! Taste is always ON POINT. Service is also good.... the african american lady who works the front desk is SO VERY SWEET like a real sweetheart and so is Jose, the younger hispanic guy. They both are super sweet, always smiling, always being kind and showing concern for what the customers want. I appreciate them both as well as the kitchen staff for making this location notably one of Chicago's biggest staples for great tasting, savory, authentic food! It's hard to top them I promise.

I purchased steak quesadillas Didn’t get a chance to enjoy my food. Once I open my steak quesadilla to see a long hair in my food. Lost my appetite very disappointed. I won’t be coming back. Make sure you check your food before eating.

My fries taste like leftovers. This is the worst pepes I have been to in my life. I wish you all could see my food from today because those pictures must be from other locations or occasions. Stiff sour cream and spinach colored guac...really?! It looked like leftovers!

Steak was bland on burrito and tacos burrito was falling a part and it was dry they gave us chicken quesadilla instead of the steak like we ordered .....wings were ok the pepes 63rd kedzie 100x better in all areas

I paid $41 for 2 stuffed steak taco dinners they were stuffed but basically tacos with extra meat they suppose to come with lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, but guess what i did not see the lettuce, but it was there maybe one string or two on each taco and on top of that for two stuffed steak taco Dinners they gave me 4 little packets of taco sauce. SMH make sure you look at your order before leaving not good at all because I had to come back.

Food was a little salty for my taste, which was surprising. I ordered Garnachas and got Nachos instead. When I told them my order was wrong, instead of simply saying sorry, let us correct it, they began to tell me I did order nachos. GAR - NACHAS...NOT NACHOS!! After a little back and forth, I got Garnachas!

I ordered steak tostadas. They claimed it was steak, but it was ground beef. I asked about it but they insisted it was steak. It wasn't. It looked & tasted like hamburger meat. The waitress was good, but nothing else. They're super expensive, especially for the area it's in. I'll never go back.

I went into this location bought two TACOS, and found a spider in one of the tacos I went back to return them and was only refunded for 1 , the owner accused me of putting a spider in the food and returning it , I work for cta so this was in a matter of minutes of returning the food on my break . I spoke with the owner who talked over me and then seemed to reason with me once I brought up his restrant in our community and being able to relate with customers instead of getting frustrated saying this didn't happen .then he apologized but didn't return my 3.55 cent why do they put restrants their business in our communities and treat us like animals , less than were not broke we just have bad spending habits . The leadership he revealed shows he really didn't address my concerns nor did he care . So basically he saying I brought the food put a spider in it and took the time while working at cta to bring it back make it make sence . Meanwhile the cook mentioned to the lady with blondish red hair that an exterminator was there . How did I know this because theydiscussed it in my face but it didn't mean anything to the owner do not spend black dollars here . Let them make the money to the people they respect . Also what have they did for the community since covid have they gave out free masks anything to our neighborhood . But have made thousands off disrespecting , rude customer service wake up my people stop supporting them when they could care less about you a simple refund of 3.55 would've ended the disrespect.
