Pepe's Mexican Restaurant

Got 4 tacos. Taste was awful. Couldn't eat them. Ground beef was mixed with something. Will make my own next time.

I got 3 steak tacos for lunch asked for lite onions and they piled them on that wasn’t my main issue because I just picked some off.but as I was eating my second taco it was a whole piece of plastic I was about to bite into I’m glad I was looking and wasn’t rushing eating in my lunch break…I called the store several times didn’t get an answer when I finally got a answer she asked for a ticket number I told her I didn’t have it gave her exact time I was there and my order which I’m sure she could’ve pulled up in the system but instead she told me they couldn’t do anything without the ticket number and if they did have it they would have to figure out what they could do…I was so mad on top of that I’m expecting and couldn’t even enjoy my lunch

My daughter had recommended this Pepe's location and indeed your Tacos are better than the other locations especially when I get them with cilantro on my Tacos and the lady at the drive-thru was very nice and courteous. Thank You and I will be back at your location.

We went this particular location on 7/9/22 around the 5:30PM - 6:30PM hour, it was on A Saturday. Luckily for my father and I it was not crowded, one man left after I ordered my food an another lady proceeded after my order was placed. The cashier was pleasant and repeated back everything I said because I had decent amount of food ordered. I asked for extra hot sauce packets and HE gave US just that when my order was ready. The food really took less than 15 minutes (As Cashier Stated)to prepare and ALL meals ordered were properly placed in the bag nicely. I guess my father and I went on a good night because I have no complaints to report on the food. The place itself was a little messy, and this was one of the better Pepe’s back in the early 2000’s when I lived around 79TH street area. The foods has gone up considerably from the last time I recall coming here a few years ago. So four ⭐️ for overall service, tastes, preparation and minus one because of the mess outside parking lot/in the restaurant, plus the HIGH PRICE for the food!!

My family usually goes to the location on 116th and Western but they didn’t have mole sauce today so we went to this location instead. We always call ahead so we don’t have to wait. The food was decent compared to the other location and we may have returned if only they handled discounts and specials better. There are only coupons online with no mention of discounts or specials. You will only receive discounts and specials if you mention them WHILE ordering. If not, the workers won’t give you a heads up so you end up paying full price even though they have a deal. And you won’t know the deals unless you notice them while in the restaurant or know them ahead of time. On top of that I still had to wait for my food even though I called it in 30min prior and they told me it would be ready in 15min. That’s not very good customer service and the quality of the food isn’t worth it. We won’t be returning to this location anytime soon.

Unfortunately I haven't entered a decent pepe's in Chicago since the eightit's. I would have to say each one I've been to, has been disappointing as hell. They should get rid of all of their thuged out franchises. Nowhere near authentic Mexicans food.

Have been a customer there for a long time, but must say the service is going down. The young workers too silly and lacking in customer service skills. Place is getting filthy, the food seems too greasy now. Was a decent restaurant at one time. They try to close up early while the sign says they're "OPEN". They seem to be willing to take your money but unwilling to make adjustments or correct mistakes (again customer service). There's a true lack of customer value. Terrible tamales for a "Mexican" restaurant. Zero atmosphere!

I just love the authentic Mexican taste of Pepe's tacos and refried beans. AND the hot pickled peppers & veggies. I grew up in Chicago and I live out of state now, so every time I come to Chicago, I have to have me some pepes... No exceptions!

I got 10 tacos special. I askd for cilantro & onions. When i got home the tacos only had a scoop of meat. Basically I had to scrape all the cilantro off. I was disappointed

This is the worst pepes I have ever been , they charge you 3.9precent to purchase food from them if you use a debit or credit card,NEVER, I do not recommend this location to any one ,they lie about the bathroom,Sign n that say the bathroom is out of order , it’s not. ,and to top it off this place is filthy absolutely fithly. Don't go to this Pepe's. They are the highest Pepe's in Chicago and they're food is terrible. Go to the one on exchange it's way cheaper and fresher

The area on the outside is dark and unkept They only take card for your purchase and plus add a fee on top of there. The tacos were OK But however the waitress told me I would receive peppers and sauce with my order my order but however but however I did not receive anything but playing tacos no sauce no pepper.

Over priced straight getting down steak cheese fries is $16 n at another pepes on 83rd n exchange its $6. They definitely getting down 3 steak tacos on 83rd n exchange for $10 n on cottage its $17 I repeat terrible service getting over on customers money talking about food shortages.. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IF YOUR WILLING TO SPEND AN EXTRA $10 ON FOOD N BEING OVER CHARGED.. N ITS NOT EVEN A COMBO OR MEAL JUS THE TACOs

This weak a** place has proven hundreds of times to just go somewhere else. The fact that they have a sign that say “ no refund”, “no exchange” and serve a *chicken bowl* without chicken; you all are jokes. Have a good Solid business going before making that tacky decision. Back in the day Pepe’s was a hit. I rather drive to Pilsen where they take the culture and cuisine a little more serious. You all are the examples of downgrade Mexican food. Trash.com

How can you get an order wrong 3 time? I explained my order in complete detail. An all meat fried burrito, nothing but meat! No beans, no rice, no sour cream, NOTHING! Cheese melted over the top with lettuce and tomato on the side. When tell me it's ready, I look in the container, red sauce is all over it. They take it back. I look inside again it looks good. I get home and cut into it and sour cream is all inside. I call back mad as ever because I took the bus there. The Manager apologized and said whenever I come back I can get it on the house. He took my name and said, "Just ask for Martin or Leo. I couldn't get back until 3 els later and they wouldn't honor what he said. Mind you I took the bus again. I had to pay for my order. When I looked inside it was not fried! I'll go back to 79th and Indiana I guess?

I was very disappointed with the taco that only had a spoonful of meat and was loaded with lettuce tomato and sour cream. This was the Pepe's near 83rd and cottage Grove not the one on 79th.

Not the same as prepared at other locations.
Steak Burritos was dry and the steak chewy.
Requested sour cream and got cheese melted on top. Not at all what I wanted.
