L & G Family Restaurant

This was my second time ordering take out from here. To begin with, the service was prompt and easy when picking up my order. I ordered on their website and it was ready in less than 15 minutes. Secondly, the atmosphere is more of a family vibe and mom/pop shop. Lastly, the burger was alright and a decent portion. I wished the mashed potatoes had more flavor but they weren't bad. Overall, it's a standard mom and pop shop with average food.

Stopped in on a Friday morning, between 10-10:30am. The restaurant was pretty busy, but we were seated quickly and asked if we wanted coffee. I had the Mexican skillet that included toast and two eggs, which I requested to be cooked, medium well. My meal was good and piping hot. My husband had the belly buster and he really enjoyed his meal, but especially enjoyed the pancakes. I'd recommend stopping in here if you're in the neighborhood.

I ordered a Buffalo chicken wrap which was drowned with buffalo sauce , sandwich was extremely too wet from drowning it with sauce and tomato. I couldn’t even eat the sandwich. I had to only eat the dry chicken and the cheese wasn’t melted!! Never again! $40 wasted. Could not even try to enjoy the sandwich because they over did it with the sauce!!! They just threw the sandwich together!! Try coaching your cooks to prepare with Love!

I have been coming here since the '90s. I brought a friend who is new in town. She said the food was "delicious." We had Skillets mine was Ranchero w/ the Berry pancakes. hers was the Every Meat. Prices are to high. A croissant sandwich is $11.00 when I can go Burger King and get 2 for 5. Just saying they prices used to be reasonable, not anymore. This is not even a five star restaurant.

Great place typically busy on Sat and Sun for breakfast. Nice neighbohood old fashion diner atmosphere. I love coming to eat at this place. The banana nut french toast is delicious. The chicken and waffles is also one of my favorites. Still one of my absolute favorite neighborhood spots to have breakfast on the weekends. Always friendly service and food is always good. Me and my family love to come here!

Love this place. Me and my family go once or twice a month. They are very accommodating to our little children. I like the Mexican skillet and chicken wrap. The young girls at the register need to be a little more professional but that’s my only complaint.

I’m a regular at this place and have noticed a few things. During the week, the restaurant is spotless, clean, and tidy, and the service is outstanding—I’m greeted as soon as I walk in. However, weekends are a different story.
if you come in on the weekend, expect a different experience. The restaurant often looks dirty and disorganized, and the staff's attitude is poor. Cashiers are generally unwelcoming, and there's a girl who is always on her phone and doesn't acknowledge customers until approached. Several other staff members are often sitting with their feet up, eating, and playing on their phones. It might be beneficial to remove the chair next to the cashier to help keep the staff more engaged. Because It's not just one person being unprofessional, it's several of them. It’s surprising how many of them are not focused on their work. Their lack of concern and general nonchalance are obvious in how they carry themselves. If it weren't for the excellent weekday staff, I wouldn't return. I avoid the place on weekends, but this issue really needs to be addressed.

Absolutely horrible experience, came in today with family to celebrate. Left with a burn with no assistance from the server or manager. The server came to table with three cups of coffee with saucers and spilled one in my thighs and stomach area. He proceeds to sit the coffee down anyways and walked away like nothing happened. Coffee still on the floor. I told another server who proceeds to give me a dry towel... again no management came, ice or anything I got up and left to seek assistance.

Thank you for your response! No the cook did not leave the line but he was seen talking with staff as I walked in stated that i was there for an pickup and the staff made him aware of my order he acted as if it was being prepared and carried on with the conversation and didn't actually prepare my order until I sat down, I'm aware of this because I watched as he then left the kitchen window area and came back to ask staff about my order. That's when I started writing the review. There's nothing wrong with him conversing with other but priorities come first. My friend loved the food by the way.

Stopped in today Monday morning to have breakfast since I’ve been passing it for the past 10yrs. We walked in and was a bit confused as to if we seated ourselves or had to wait, no one greeted us or said nothing. I asked a young lady behind the counter, if we just set ourselves and she replied all rude, to write our name and ph# on a notebook. There was no one waiting except for us. Than a much nicer server passed by and told us we can sit down anywhere… I ordered the Mexican skillet and it was 98% chorizo and eggs, I didn’t like it!!! Our waitress not once came by and asked if everything was as ok, til we were finished. I have not missed anything for the past 10 years of passing by, I was disappointed and will not be going back any time soon…

I'm from Chicago, where we are known for our food. I've been to this place twice and have been disappointed each time. I've ordered a sandwich each time and wanted to take them back. First was a corned beef sandwich that was dry. The corned beef didn't look real and was 2 colors. This time, I got a ham sandwich deluxe. The menu shows lettuce, tomato, and coleslaw. I chose fries, but my sandwich was made like a breakfast sandwich instead with ham and eggs with cheese. I thought they were putting it on the side. I never asked for my sandwich to be that way. The young lady who took our order wasn't friendly or welcoming. She wasn't even paying attention when I asked for ham in the first place. My advice to anyone doing carryout here to check your food before you leave. I won't be back to be disappointed a third time.

Horrible restaurant I ordered through DoorDash for my son who is allergic to tomatoes I was told before I ordered via phone by an employee that I could make changes over the phone because I was not giving the option on DoorDash and as soon as I placed my order and called right back they said the food was ready which is impossible to be ready within less then a minute the employees and manager was very rude once I spent my hard earned money my baby really wanted a omelette that he can't eat due to it having tomatoes in it.

The food is way too overly priced for breakfast. The pancakes were so thick and dry it just sucked all the syrup up. My sausages tasted and looked as if they were heated up first than placed on a skillet for a little browning. Just a terrible attitude at the front counter. Dear Management:
I had an unpleasant experience visiting the L&G Restaurant on 01-07-24. We arrived about 1:45 this Sunday. The plan was to meet three other friends with my wife and I for BRUNCH (as a birthday celebration for ME - today). We arrived and were immediately greeted at the door with a denial of service. The check-out staff explained that the restaurant was CLOSED for all Meal service. We were informed that we could have ordered for Carry-out / pickup until 3pm. Unfortunately, an earlier call to confirm the restaurant hours had gone unanswered so we just traveled and agreed to meet at L&G. The parking lot was half-full, but there were only 5 - 6 other diners seated at the time.

After asking to speak to a manager about the rebuff, the staff further defended their position and informed us that the Manager was not on premise. I asked if the manager was available by phone and was told an attempt would be made to contact him/her. Not observing this attempt being made I was simply told later there was no answer on the call. Even Ms. Laneshia(?) who reiterated the store policy (in a second attempt to calm the situation from the beginning) ultimately admitted she had no managerial authority either as her co-workers stood by helplessly. I apologize if I was too demanding or hard on her but I have come to expect better accommodations in the food service industry. (My wife is L'CB culinary trained, if that matters any. I just know good food when I smell it!).

Anyhow, while waiting for the remaining friends (10 mins.) so we would not get separated, I observed no less than 5 orders of food being prepared for carry-out service. But the attention to detail of the delivery people being waited on was in stark contrast to how the in-house patrons were treated as they left. IF the L&G Restaurant lis now primarily an "On-Demand/Courier/Internet" food business - That's fine. Then your signage and online advertising should simply state that. It is a bit disingenuous for your parking lot sign and Google ads to say Breakfast/ Lunch/ Dinner when you intend to close at 2:00pm on any given day.

I had recently been referred to L&G from friends who live in the area. I too was a resident of the SE side for many years as well. Two other dining experiences there were more enjoyable but in hindsight they were close to "closing" as well. Table and chairs were moved around and floor mopping took place as we finished our meals.

While your explanation may help to explain these anomalies, I am not confident honest business procedures are being followed by your staff. I would also suspect that sanitary food processing would be suspect as well. I intended to visit your establishment again - unannounced - as I believe in the "three strike rule" too. I believe L&G could do better and hope to revise this review at that time.

We arrived at 145pm on a Sunday. We were told they're closed. The last two times we came here we were told that the restaurant is closed. Every time we come here it's a different story. They close at 3, they close at 2. But the sign on the corner says they serve dinner! How the heck do you serve dinner and you close at 2pm?!?!?!?!
Today's excuse is they're closing for remodeling. There is NOTHING on the website saying they'll close early. There is no manager on site nor do the employees have a contact number for a manager or owner. This has got to be the best place to work. You have a job with no oversite so you can do whatever the heck you want and tell the patrons anything you want.
No one accepted responsibility for being the on site supervisor or manager; how can you trust that they are following food safety guidelines and regulations? How can we trust anything when the employees are short with you when you ask questions? If I can't ask a question what are you here to do?

I HAD THE MILANO OMELETTE TOO MUCH ITALIAN SAUSAGE WITH MOZZARELLA. IT WAS BIGGER ENOUGH FOR TWO SERVINGS
THE BACON WAS CRISPY
I ASKED FOR WHITE TOASTS PAID FOR WHITE TOASTS BUT DIDNT RECEIVE WHITE TOASTS.
THE HASH BROWNS ( LIKE SHREDDED HASH BROWNS BETTER) ARE GOOD WHEN U PUT PLENTY OF HOT SAUCE ON IT.
SOME WOMAN COMPLAINED ABOUT DIRTY TABLES.
THREE ⭐️ ONLY MAYBE I WILL GO BACK, BUT PROBABLY NOT.

A breakfast person, I am not. I’ve driven past on numerous occasions and finally decide stop. Food was great with large portions, piping hot from the moment I received my food until packing my order to go. All staff were attentive to their tables and respectful. Not sure if there was a sign that said please seat yourself, so I was a little clueless but I know the next time around. It is on the pricey side for breakfast, but I the none breakfast eater would like to say “you won’t be disappointed”.

This place had gone way overboard with their prices. It's much too high. Salad served with iceberg lettuce. Palest salad I've had in a long time. Meatloaf was dry and looked like a TV dinner. The gravy and mashed potatoes were good. Their side was spinach and tasted like it had gone bad and had no seasoning whatsoever. Not good. It's not worth 19.95 for meatloaf. My husband had the eggs, bacon, and pancakes. He was not impressed. It is too expensive for what you get.

Was giving another local spot a try for lunch. I call in for a Pick-up order, come in and pay glance at my reciept and see they charged me 40 cents on an $16 order for using my card. No warning , no signs anywhere around the register. I hold cash on me for this specific reason. so they basically scam you. Walked back to talk to the register lady to ask what this "Delivery fee" is (since im picking up) also who can't seem stop talking talking on her phone through Bluetooth earpiece and I say you need to put a sign up how am I supposed to know ? And she says "Oh ok" and turns her back to me.

I usually frequent the location on 75th but since we moved out this way I figured I’ll give this location a try my first time was a Greek skillet it was OK today I had the Denver omelette with cheese and pancakes and hash-browns it was good I still haven’t had a wow meal yet but I’ll keep trying.

03/22/2023 Walking in the restaurant the staff doesn't greet u. I was standing there for a good five minutes when the lady in the corner came over she seems as if she was bothered by something and when asking for condiments she came off very rudely. One thing about me I am a friendly person and I don't like people treating me like that especially when I am spending my money. This has happened more than one time. Even when i go in to pick up orders for uber eats. They are very rude and nasty.I will not spend money in there any longer The grits was very lumpy and warm. The place is just a diner, nothing special with the decor. I ordered the turkey skillet, and it could've been seasoned better. The server was nice, and he made sure to check us a couple of times as we ate. But the portion was decent for the price.
