They have a beautiful patio area out front in the summer and it is dog friendly! Our server was a delight and the food was delicious. The gravy for the crab claws was so flavorful and there are french fries in the bottom! My drink was amazing as well. Parking is street parking. I'll definitely go back.

Really enjoyed our dinner here and have already come back again. The flavors and sauces are very authentic and full of flavor. The brick chicken with the toum sauce has been our favorite. The ambiance is nice outside too with their patio & lightening and excellent service. Highly recommend!

Edit sept 20 - wanted to celeb my birthday here at my fav resturant. My wife called in a week before to have a booth space. We reached there and the staff said they are booked and can only offer us some back table or outside. What is the point of reservation then.? The staff after that was also very late in getting things for us... Napkins took 10 minutes, no one filling water... I was utterly disappointed. Changing my 5 star to 2 stars.
Advice to the manager who came to help but was helpless.. Reservation must get preference, train your front staff girls to be a little polite when situations like this happens...they were clearly untrained.

First off, the atmosphere was fantastic! Tall windows, crisp white walls, and a killer bar area set the mood perfectly. We had made reservations in advance, and we were seated promptly upon arrival.

Now, let's talk food. We went all out on appetizers and weren't disappointed. The Brussels sprouts with goat cheese, dates, and walnuts were a hit for me, though my partner thought they were just okay. But then came the Maine Lobster Dynamite, and oh my goodness, it was phenomenal! Juicy, flavorful lobster served with buttery bread – a match made in heaven.

Feeling adventurous, we also tried the scallops and the Burrata Fig Mostarda. The scallops were cooked to perfection, and that butternut squash puree? To die for. The Burrata was a tad sweet for my liking, but still delicious.

By the time the main course rolled around, we were practically bursting. But we couldn't resist trying the Striped Bass with herb tomato ragu and asparagus. My partner adored the sea bass, though the ragu was just okay for us.

Dessert was sadly out of the question due to our food coma, but we're already planning our next visit to indulge in all the other dishes, especially the desserts!

Overall, The Foxtail definitely earns a spot as one of the best in Downers Grove. Can't wait to go back for round two!

Tried this place with my girlfriends over Brunch. We started off with coffee, green tea and bloody Mary Mimosa. For Food, we had Avocado Toast, Tune Poke Bowl and Steak & eggs. Food was delicious and drinks were great as well.

The ambiance was trendy. The vibe was chill. The server was polite and super attentive.

There is parking garage near by along with plenty of parking spots on the street.

I would highly recommend this place.

Really disappointed in our experience here. We had a reservation and were sat at a table near the bar. Normally, we’d say this is no problem at all! However, Foxtail allowed so many people to crowd in by the bar and stand while waiting for tables that they made it an absolutely miserable experience for us. In the first five minutes we were seated, we had the group that was standing bump in to us 3-4 times, and waiters/patrons walking by bump in to us another 4-5 times.

I took it upon myself to ask if we could move to the bar, where we had good service. We were also able to actually have a conversation seated at the bar since we could actually hear one another However, it really left a sour taste in our mouth: how can you have a restaurant set up so poorly that you have patrons and staff falling into one another?

The food and drinks were incredibly average. I would say I’d consider coming back if we’d had a better time, but I really don’t think we’ll be back. Very disappointed.

This was my first time at this restaurant and I will definitely be back! The restaurant has a cozy yet airy feel to it. The decor is super cute! The food and drinks were delicious, complex and all well balanced. The service was amazing from the receptionist to our wonderful server Robert, everyone was super nice. Robert was knowledgeable about the menu, gave great recommendations, and was attentive. One of the best experiences I’ve had at a restaurant across the board in years. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I can’t wait to go back!

What a great place, lots of seating, huge wrap around bar, a live DJ, and clean bathrooms. Our waiter, Robert was fantastic, very attentive, and had great recommendations. My friend and I shared the garlic labneh which was a mouthful of garlic that I loved, the maine lobster dynamite that had a slight kick to it which was delicious, and the tahini dream bars were nothing like I've tasted before, To drink, I had the one night in Morocco which had a lot of flavors to it and the white chocolate pistachio martini that also had many flavors to it, both were good but I wouldn't order either of them again. I can't wait to come back and try more of their other food items.

Two words: Lobster Dynamite. Oh my goodness. Doesn’t have that funky seafood scent. I do three orders of it and that is my meal. Everything else is fine, but the star of the show is the Lobster Dynamite.

Decor and dine-in accommodations are beautiful. Overall, a solid pick in the burbs.

Loved my dinner here! I was here with a large group of coworkers so we ordered a ton of shared plates. I recommend the crab legs over the crab claws, both were good but if you want more meat the legs are the move. Also their hummus, labaneh, and chicken shawarma rolls were all very solid. I had the Tuna Poke bowl as main and it was one of the better poke bowls I’ve had. They don’t skimp on the tuna which was great, it was very fresh and had lots of different flavors throughout. Oh and get the carrot cake for dessert it was sooooo good.

It’s right in downtown Downers Grove in a cute area so I would highly recommend stopping in!

Really good food! The Paella was good it’s not the “true” spanish rice you get from spain, no socarrat on the bottom (crispy rice) This by no means makes it bad. Very delicious! Would definitely have it again.
My S/O had the salmon poke bowl and really enjoyed it said it was well balanced.
Had the chicken shwarma rolls to start and also very good.
If i had any sort of complaint it would only be they dont serve water with ice unless you ask, and the music imo does not fit with the crowd or the ambiance. Not a big deal. Will be happy to come back

Went in for a late lunch with my friend. She ordered a burger which she liked a lot and I ordered the calamari appetizer.
It was delicious! The best calamari I've ever had and I had fresh in Greece. The only problem was that for $15, I got less than half a cup of food which was very disappointing because some of what I got was potatoes( which again, were very good, but it meant I got even less calamari). They should make it an entree.

From the moment we stepped into Foxtail, we were blown away by the ambiance, the warm welcomes from the hosts. The staff was incredibly attentive and friendly. The real star of the show was the food! We ordered the Lamb/Beef Kabobs and Pistachio flatbreads to share. The main course dishes we choose were the Brick Chicken which was so tender and the pork chop which had so much flavor. We ended with the Tahini dream bars. We can't wait to come back and try more of their amazing menu. Highly recommend!

This place could not have been any better.
Everything that we had was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The wait staff was great and something I enjoy is the manager was out front working and stopped at the table to make sure everything was great.

Hard to believe, but this is the first time we stopped in here. We live just a few blocks away. My wife had the grouper, which is rather hard to find in Chicago area. It came with some roasted potatoes and sujuk, a marinated Mediterranean sausage I had never heard of. The dish was excellent. I had the chicken shawarma rolls. It was also very good. They were very accommodating for one small special request. We asked for bread which they do not normal have. We were ready to move on. It was not a big deal. They whipped up some toasted toasted bruschetta-like French bread with some butter. They place was packed on a Tuesday night.

Pros. Parking is convenient. Beautiful location with many shops to meander. The food that we ordered was well executed. Cons. Service is very very slow. The brunch menu is odd. There are no pancakes. The two waffle dishes were not being served because the waffle iron was broken. That left only omelettes as breakfast items. Everything else served at 10 AM was raw seafood, poke bowls, and an assortment of dinner items. Definitely look at the brunch menu before you come. It is not for everyone.

Have been here countless times and never disappoints. Continue to come here and everytime I am here I have the best service and the food is always excellent. Today I sat on the patio after church for a quick bite. Had the oysters as they are so good for you and they do them well here, then had the Heirloom Tomato Salad. Both were excellent. Service was great, my server Kevin was very attentive. Highly recommend this place!

Just moved to the area and was excited to see such a highly reviewed restaurant so close by my new house. Ordered the octopus, crab claws, a flatbread, and paella. The food was underwhelming. Fairly certain the manager is racist against Asian American patrons, but that’s not even the point. The food here is horrible. Never coming back. Stay away

My family and I ate at The Foxtail for a celebration. The staff was incredibly accommodating to our large party and made us feel so welcome. My husband and I have worked in the service industry for over 10 years and we were amazed at the level of service from the entire team. I highly recommend eating at The Foxtail for the service and atmosphere alone! It’s so cute and great for pictures. We will definitely be back. The food was also quite tasty and they had an expansive wine, mocktail, and cocktail list. Thank you for making our night so special!

The Foxtail was fantastic! They easily accommodated our party of 10 with a reservation, and the brunch was absolutely delicious, pleasing everyone.

Despite my severe food allergies to corn, gluten, and oats, I still enjoyed a satisfying meal. I highly recommend this spot for its food, cocktails, and ambiance!

Went for lunch today and was very pleasantly surprised. I eat out a lot and not a fan of chains and to be honest when it comes to dt areas the food is overpriced and isn't anything special. This place was not the case. Server was very nice the place is clean. There's a gentleman who is fast as hell cleaning up tables and taking away used plates ect. I got a flat bread called the pistachio and it was EPIC these guys make there own dough for sure the cheese was perfect the flavor was on point. I know a Flatbread how good can it be.... it was fire. I also got to try some of a burger and fries and it was better than I thought it would be. Definitely recommend and will go agian!

Food was good overall maybe just a bit pricey and cocktails on the sweet side. We tried the shrimp scampi - it was ok, the ragu wasn’t my favorite. The burger was good a classic and could have used some acid. The shawarma was hands down our favorite. Tender meat, salty cheese, and a light homemade pita. When we go back I would skip the cocktails, try the chicken wings and definitely get the hummus with the thin pita!!

Very cute restaurant, friendly staff, delicious food, artistic display, and swift service.
I ordered the za’atar flatbread (forgot to take a pic) but it was delicious. The mocktail are delicious and I loved the mouse carrot cake, has a little kick to it. My boyfriend ordered from the kid menu and it was adult sized so you can save a few bucks if you wanted to. Also a cute location so you can walk around with your full tummy’s. I don’t think I can fit all the compliments in this review. Parking is street parking. Worth the visit.

NOT VEGETARIAN OR VEGAN FRIENDLY!
I went to The Foxtail for a party last weekend. I made it clear to our server that I am a vegetarian and ordered the mac n cheese. The mac n cheese is not very flavorful, though it was a large serving. We were in a large party that had ordered 3 mac n cheese dishes, two with meat (chicken and shrimp.) Somehow I ended up being served the shrimp mac and someone else got my just cheese mac. Not having eaten any meat or seafood for over a decade, I thought the chunks were cheese curds until I had my partner try it. He confirmed it was shrimp. Unfortunately I had already eaten quite a bit of it and no staff realized the mistake before giving it me. We made them aware of the mistake after we had figured it out, they were very apologetic and the general manager even came to speak with me. They wanted to know what they could do to make it right, unfortunately there was nothing to be done at that point, so they just comped the meal at my request. They have about two vegan options and said you could make changes to the dishes to suit you, but it seems you cannot be sure that your food will be meat free! Also in my opinion they should work on their organization in reservations, specifically not booking them back to back. Overall not impressed with how the food tasted and very unhappy with the major mistake, though the drinks and mock-tails were quite nice.

Ok, words cannot describe how delicious their homemade frozen blackberry sage yogurt was. I didn’t know what to expect but miraculous was what I got! I’ve never tasted anything like this before. One order was enough for two. If you are in the area, you must stop in and order this dessert. You will not be disappointed. The dinner was great too Lol!!

Love this restaurant. Delicious mediterranean food, poke bowls, oysters , burgers, schwarma, kabobs & weekend brunch. Great bar with an interesting range of cocktails. Multi age crowd. Wonderful vibe.

The food was quite good, very flavorful . Our waiter knew the menu well, and was able to offer frank feedback on various choices. Even though the restaurant was full, the service and timing were excellent.

Been here 3x now and each time has been outstanding. Wonderful food and warm, friendly service. A little pricey for a casual outing, but a great option if you want to go out to a nice place that has great vibes and isn't stuffy.

It was a pretty nice place to have a drink on Saturday night, tasty food and nicely made drinks. Great service. They had DJ that night too. Over all its nice place to get good food and drinks.

This is our new go to restaurant for a nice date night. The food is some of the best in Downers. We ordered oysters, octopus, lebnah, petit filet & snapper. Everything was seasoned well, and delicious. The atmosphere is upscale without being stuffy. We will be back!

Amazing local restaurant. We visited without reservations and were immediately seated. The restaurant was busy, but the service was spot on. The food was unique and delicious. Definitely recommend. We will be back.

Nice atmosphere and ambiance, but food was just so so...My husband had Shawarma, which was served on pita taco style and it was lukewarm, I got Moroccan Tagine with shrimp on the cold bed of couscous. We also share some dessert, which was delicious, especially double mousse carrot cake. Sorry, we really expected a little better tasting food.

One of our favorite spots! My husband and I lunch here often and we take the family for dinner sometimes. Open, airy, comfy atmosphere. Great food - I’ve never been disappointed by anything here with the exception of some of the cocktails. We have had the same server many times, which means they don’t seem to turn over staff often which is great. They definitely know what they are doing. Huge fan of the hamachi crudo, beef shawarma, lobster roll, and poke bowls. My kids like the cheese flatbread and brick chicken.

We spent $250 for four people and they up charged us $1 for 4 pieces of bread so we had enough for an appetizer. Seriously? The one thing I will remember about this place is the frivolous upcharge.

The food is outstanding! The chef has creative spins, with menu items spanning Middle Eastern, American and Asian cuisine! Food is consistently excellent. The hamachi crudo is highly recommended.

Hands down one of the best restaurants in Downers Grove. The cauliflower appetizer was amazing. The Paella main course is unmatched. The espresso martini is perfection. Alberto makes a mean latte! It’s an amazing place. A must try.

I booked The Foxtail for a party of 14 for my husband's 40th birthday and I couldn't have been happier with our experience. McKenna, Nate, Sam, and the entire staff went above and beyond to make sure our experience was one to remember. The food and drinks were delicious and the music provided by DJ Dirty Donuts set the perfect party atmosphere. Thank you again to The Foxtail staff for providing us and our guests such a special night!

We loved our dinner here on a Sunday night. Our dog loved the outdoor area with artificial turf. The food and service are the real stars. Highly recommend.

Totally a fun environment. Loved the decor. I cannot have any type of gluten and no cross contamination of gluten- Celiac. My waitress was great. I got the watermelon salad and I wanted it with chicken. Alas my waitress found out that the chicken is marinated in soy. I got the salmon instead and it was delicious. I didn’t get sick! Thank you, staff!!! Cocktails were delicious too.

We enjoyed the outside sitting area, atmosphere was nice. I can’t say the same thing for the food, shawarma and hummus were mediocre. Matter of fact, it wasn’t even shawarma, it was something like a taco with a pita bread. I recommend cocktails and oysters.

I love this place! I just had my bridal shower here and the food was amazing and the service was even better. Stasi worked with me and was able to customize the menu just how I wanted. As a bride who wanted to minimize any additional stress and at the same time have a beautiful shower I couldn’t have picked a better place! Highly recommend!

It's ok. We weren't fans of this place. Had high hopes but it just missed on all fronts. Our server likely ruined this place for us. He was outside chatting up a table full of older women for a long time. Not hating, do you man but we had other plans. So long we had to hunt down someone to give us our check and let us pay so we could leave.

Food was an attempt to be daring/different and unfortunately was a miss as the plates didn't seem to have a cohesive concept. You can't just slap good flavors on a plate and expect it to hit.

The business owner did something somehow to push my review down. This needs to be seen so customers understand what they are in for!

I specifically called them to see if they will serve us before 10pm. They said yes. We drove there, walked in at 9:38pm and they told us kitchen closed. The owner was Extremely rude and unapologetic about it. Never come here.

Definitely recommend! Atmosphere was cool and unique. Got nervous when I saw the menu and it had dishes from all over the world, knowing no one can do everything well. Guess this place is the exception? Everything was amazing and would definitely recommend as a place that has something for everyone.

Dinner out... Grilled octopus was great but too small of a portion for two people, Oysters tasted fresh so thats always a good thing, Paella was disappointing, it was missing the socarrat in the bottom and was under seasoned. Bacon wrap porkchop the fiance said was good, the grilled Alaskan king crab legs were phenomenal, cheesecake was good but I was never a fan of any cheesecakes so :) overall I'll give the restaurant an 8.5 because service was attentive and swift...

We had a great night I had the Shrimp mac and cheese and my husband had the chirashi poke bowl. The salmon was slightly fishy as salmon is sometimes and waiter asked if he could sub something else for it! The entire dining experience was wonderful.

A real hidden gem of downers grove! I had a spectacular lunch here celebrating my dear friends’ birthdays. The inside was so cute and aesthetic✨. Our waitress, Mia, was so nice and made our dining so much better. They had great drinks to offer, including some delicious mocktails so my friends and I could be responsible underage individuals. The food was extraordinary and my friends were surprised with a very nice birthday dessert crafted by the in-house pastry chef. I will surely be making another trip because I enjoy being trendy💋.
