This is our favorite place to stop and eat when we are visiting Dubuque. The food is homemade and cooked fresh with big portions. The burgers are great and breakfast is even better. They are known for the magic muffin for breakfast. But all the breakfast items are great. Also, If you love coleslaw you better try theirs. It's the best! It's a little family owned bar/restaurant that makes you feel at home .

I’m from Texas but I live in Oklahoma. I come to Dubuque about 5 or 6 times a year cause my fiancé is originally from here. He moved to Oklahoma about 38 yrs ago to work at American Airlines. West Dubuque Tap is one of the best places I’ve ever had In Dubuque and I’ve been coming here for 8 yrs. I really like to come on Sunday morning and have the breakfast with a couple of Bloody Mary’s. They make one of the best Bloody Mary’s I’ve ever had but their food is great too! Their portions are ample and then some! Their food is always consistent and great! My fiancé loves the pork loin sandwich. I highly recommend this place! It’s a small quaint place to get great food and great service!! P.S. It only gave me one option to say what I got but I’ve had breakfast, lunch and dinner over the past 8yrs, I’ve had all three multiple times!!

Hands down, if I could rate this place 100 I would. The atmosphere was friendly, the service was prompt and speedy, and the food... omg the food was excellent, tasted great and you get your money's worth. Came all the way from dodge county wisconsin for this.

We ate here for breakfast. It was great. The Magic Muffin is enough food for two. The kids enjoyed the pancakes. The prices were good. There's not much else to say. If you're looking for a solid breakfast, this place has it.

Got the magic muffin for the first time, and it was AMAZING!!! I would definitely recommend this to anyone, but bring a buddy because it's a lot of food!! The atmosphere is very chill and the walls are adorned with some fascinating Dubuque history. Go check it out!

Very good food in a bar setting. It better be good or no one is ever coming back. They don't disappoint, the food is very good, a little pricey but you do get full. I enjoyed the waitresses, fellow patrons, and looking around the place too. It's a small snapshot out of old Dubuque. Great experience.

Loved it here. The food was absolutely delicious. It was the first time I had sweet macaroni salad tho 😂. The fries were home made, we saw the potatoes turn in those fries.
The bartender was spicy but an absolute joy.

Staff were very friendly. They let us know about specials and had good recommendations for what to get. I had one of the burgers, which was delicious.

Space was small, but intimate. Definitely had that hole in the wall vibe. Would visit again given the opportunity.

Never been before. Ordered a bacon cheese burger basket to go. Three other people ordered the same thing while I was there, so it must be pretty popular. Staff was friendly. Atmosphere was pleasant. Not too crowded. Burger came out fast and just how I ordered it. Perfectly cooked. Fries were also great. Priced very fairly and well worth it. Would recommend.

I had a great olive burger that was so tasty! My cousins enjoyed the cod plater and chicken dinner and both looked so delicious! I know they enjoyed them very much from their yummy reactions!

we visited here from WI when we went out to enjoy some time as husband and wife, The magic muffin was amazing, so good in fact we are going back this year, but not only the food, the staff is amazing, tiny hole in the wall that rocks it out the ball park. Frank and Mette.

This establishment is a legacy! Small bar only room for about 40 but the service and food comes at you quick! Beer is ice cold price is fantastic portions are better! Bring your appetite and come early.

Small bar and grill that has awesome service! We were greeted as soon as we walked in. Drinks showed up almost as fast as we ordered them! Food was awesome and showed up quickly! It feels a bit cramped,,, or maybe the right word is cozy! We ended up here after trying to get service at the dog shed 1/2 block up the road. After 10 minutes sitting there with no acknowledgement we even existed we left and found this place. Glad we did! They say bad experiences teach lessons. We learned this is a place we will be back to!

Wow hidden Jem !!! The OMG burger was divine . On the top of my list for great burgers in the Midwest. Fully loaded to the ceiling everything was fresh and the onion rings on top were amazing. Will definitely be back to try other menu items.
