Charlottes’s is a wonderful small business for Dubuque. Every time I’ve been here the staff is friendly and coffee is great. They also have a variety of food options so you can find something for everyone. Homemade pastries, açaí bowls and sandwiches made onsite. I definitely recommend this place to locals and visitors!

Inside a Hartig drugstore. OK. Drink was good.
Service was unfriendly and impersonal. 2 people working, neither would talk. I could see them 6 feet away. I wasn't sure how to order on the kiosk. They saw me, walked by, and ignored me. I had to ring the bell. They answered, seemed bothered. When finished, they set drinks on a shelf. No name. No thank you. No smile. Won't be back

What a pleasant surprise tucked away in an old brick building and house. Wonderful menu options! I had a spiced chai and it was delicious!! They have açaí bowls, a variety of bakery items, an all day breakfast menu, and a varied lunch menu with sandwiches and bowls. I can’t wait to come back now that we know about this hidden gem and try some of the other options. It is conveniently located just a few blocks off the interstate.

I really enjoyed our breakfast at Charlotte's. My coffee and avocado toast were quite good. My husband also enjoyed his food, but was less excited about his lemonade. The building is very cute, with a few different nooks. The porch was lovely on a nice day. Unfortunately, it was busy when we stopped by and the staff struggled to find us when they brought our order.

When I got to Charlotte's, there was no line and maybe five people in the cafe. There were three employees behind the counter and it took them five minutes to even acknowledge me. I ordered two 16 oz. iced Americanos, which were $4.40 each, (which is pretty steep for espresso and water considering I don't think I've ever paid more than $4 for an americano). I then waited over 10 minutes for my drinks; no one ordered in the entire span of time. When my drinks were brought out to me, the ice was melted, and they were watery. I lived in Dubuque two years ago and Charlotte's was my favorite café in town. I am writing this review because it is sad to see how much it has changed for the worse since I've been gone. The coffee tasted good despite being watery, but with customer service and prices like this, I likely will never choose this over other cafes when visiting Dubuque.

Review №45

Charlotte's is not an honorable company to deal with. In the past I've had issues with portion sizes of Acai bowls being inconsistent, but they taste so good we kept coming back. Last week my coworkers and I ordered over $100 worth of breakfast from Charlotte's. My coworker has a Dubuque Senior High Booster club discount card that clearly states "10% off entire order". The barista needed to check with their manager to verify the discount card was valid because they've had issues with fraudulent discount cards previously. The manager stayed in their office and had the barista report the discount was a typo and is meant to only be "10% off one item". The members of the DBQ community that donated money to DBQ Senior High for this are being misled by Charlotte's business practices. Charlotte's not honoring their commitment is a major slap in the face to the residents of our community.

Cozy spot for a great cup of coffee and good food. It's open later which is nice; many other coffee shops close so early. It's got a lively, energetic vibe. Very nice outdoor seating areas, too

Published 2 years ago

Review №54

Food was great and I loved the option to sit in or outside. Overall a pretty nice spot with good coffee and food. The biggest drawback is there is not any easy way to order carry out if you call in… there is not a separate line which could be an easy/effective solution. There is a separate line for app orders, but for some reason over the phone orders were treated differently?

Would still recommend the food + drinks, but would suggest the checkout experience be improved.

This is one of my favorite coffee shops I've ever been too. Food is great. Coffee drinks were outstanding. The atmosphere is so warm, homey and welcoming. We live outside Chicago and went here for breakfast both days during our visit in Dubuque. Coffee choices are typical sweet American Cafe choices. Cortados are really just mini lattes, but they do call their macchiatto a "latte machiatto" to indicate you are getting the Starbucks equivalent instead of the traditional small espresso drink. Sandwiches are good but could be improved with more greens. If you are looking for a good cup of espresso or black coffee, this shouldn't be your choice. If you are into sweet coffee drinks in an interesting space, then this will be more of your vibe.

Nice place, food is good and coffee is ok. Some of the baristas are nice but a lot are a bit rude and just seem like they want you to get your stuff and go. Some also don’t seem super professional as MANY are just wearing leggings and T-shirt but I guess that’s the norm now? It’s very loud in there and not super comfortable if you want to study. The paninis are usually very good and I recommend the breakfast ones. The coffee isn’t amazing and the chai is just powder so it’s very sweet.
overall it’s an ok place just not a calming place and some of the employees aren’t amazing.
