Hy-Vee Grocery Store

Check your receipt!!!! Check expiration dates!!!
This location constantly overcharges for products at the register. One price is listed on the shelves and a higher price rings up at the register. They don't have a problem issuing a refund when you call it out though. It all seems pretty shady.
I find a lot of expired products on the shelves. One time, there was a sale on shortening and all the cans on the shelf were overly expired (by several months). There was a stocker near by and he told me to grab the other brand and tell them at the register to use the sale price. Another shady experience. It's as if this location tries to see what they can pass over on the customer.

Just had the most awkward, uncomfortable interaction at the self checkout with the woman supervising. As I was finishing scanning my items, I realized she was hovering near me as I attempted to scan the item. It was alcohol so she had to swipe her ID card which was fine.
However, as she finished , she points to the laminated sheet on the counter and says, you know there’s a limit of 15 items at the self checkout. I felt taken to task and embarrassed but replied, then maybe the store should open up more cashier lanes. She said that they’re all open.
I said I really didn’t want to argue and was sorry for going over the magic number. Which for me was 17 items. Good Golly!!

Ordered Mealtime to Go for the first and LAST time! Ordered the 12.99Meal for 2 entrees with 2 appetizers but only got 1 eggroll (maybe 1 eggroll=2apps??) and the beef/broccoli and Mongolian beef entrees. It was 90%broccoli 10%beef and 100%sauce. For the Mongolian, switch out the broccoli for onions. Both were just swimming in sauce and yet somehow the meat was dried out, you could tell it had been sitting for a while. I placed the order at 6:30. I also ordered the white Mac and cheese which was dry, separated, and clumpy. My boyfriend picked up the order and told me there was only one worker who seemed very busy and overwhelmed. Just a heads up to people that sometimes convenience has it's own cost.

Pharmacy hours listed as open on website and at store at the pharmacy counter. It was not. Department should have the courtesy of keeping website updated and accurate signage in store. Very inconvenient and stressful on a holiday trying obtain medication when acutely ill.

Tonight I ordered at the Chinese food bar and it happened again.

Each week it seems like this store does more and more to push customers away. From making 1/4 of the parking lot unusable for pick up orders (and theses spots are almost always empty), to having armed guards, and taking away the self checkout lines, it just continues to get worse. This store also has some of the worst produce - can’t even find decent onions, berries half bad, and most of the potatoes usually go bad in hours after you get home. Was once a good store but it’s gone way downhill.

I've never been in a Hy-Vee grocery store before and thought this was a great store. The selection was great, prices reasonable, shelves were very well stocked, and they had a restaurant/bar inside. It was nice to see that they had a selection of healthier food also.

Tonight I ordered at the Chinese food bar and it happened again.

This store has the WORST self checkout of any store I’ve been in. You absolutely cannot move things off the bagging area, OR put your items directly into a bag! I had to get assistance to clear the checkout area 2 times for the small order I was checking out. It’s completely ridiculous and inconvenient!

Love this grocery store. If your hungry and don't feel like cooking and a little tired of another fast food burger. Then this should be your go to place. My wife and I stop through Dubuque every two weeks to stock up. This time we picked up this ENORMOUS 10 pound pork butt roast. In this photo it's covered in garlic powder, black pepper, and kosher salt. We're smoking it, and making our own BBQ sauce from the water. We're handing some out next week at work. We thought this would make a great second dinner choice to the whole rib eye we always get from a different retailer. Pulled BBQ pork for work lunches, and ribeye anytime! Ciao

We shop at the Hy-Vee by Target , once you get to know the store it becomes your place to go. Their staff is very helpful, great Deli counter , great meat, seafood, dairy. Good wine and liquor department, what else do you need?!?!.

Lie- Vee shows wrong hours. Supposed to be open until 11pm and maybe open until 9pm not really sure, but super unhappy about going there and thinking they're open. Horrible customer service at that point. Zero stares.

Won't be shopping here anymore, the 12 limit amount in the self checkout is ridiculous and the self checkout lady makes us uncomfortable with her staring over our shoulder every time and adding unhelpful points. Nobody wants to go through the lines and wait 20 minutes for their bags to be poorly packed which is why self checkout is so great in the first place but they want open the extended self checkout conveyer belt. Honestly have never had a good experience at this location.

Store was subpar. Chinese food was disappointing(no pork egg rolls, no veggies scooped up with in my lo mien). I wanted vegetable sushi and they were out, I asked the clerk if they had any more and he snapped at me telling me the sushi bar was closed so no. I didn’t even know this location had a sushi bar! I was just seeing if they had any in the back. Counters are cluttered, making me unaware if I could pay at the Chinese/“sushi bar” register and the same clerk said he could check us out(with an attitude). I would have totally accepted a “no” response if they were closing out that register for the night or something, but he chose to take my money AND demonstrate poor customer service skills. The seating area(complete with mood lighting) is phenomenal! However a stroll around the rest of the store will quickly show you all funding went to making that seating area look five star, while the grocery section of the store is…aged…

I have shopped Hyvee for 30 years and never had a complaint...and this will be stupid to some, but why restrict self check to 12? Post pandemic, we have learned to self check. Open the belts for large orders you closed 2 years go and leave us alone! I want to bag my own. What a STUPID corporate policy. Please pass that along to your bigwigs.

Excellent grocery store with a wide variety of products. The staff is helpful, genuine and friendly. Prices are a little on the higher side but when you have as many workers as they do that are willing to help you, it's understandable where that money is being spent. It's a great experience to be able to find a "helpful smile in every aisle" as the stores motto suggests. This is one of my go-to grocery stores.

There's a bar in the grocery store! ... and a restaurant for that matter. The bar has lots of beers on tap, and has happy hour every (week?)day. The happy hour is 1/2 price draft beers and appetizers. A pretty good deal and a decent bar. We got a few quesadillas and everyone thought they were really good. There are some TVs as well, I guess generally tuned to sports. Again, this is inside a grocery store.

Used to be my go-to Hyvee. However, I typically go elsewhere now because the organic produce is sad, the variety of products in stock has decreased greatly (especially natural/ organic) & meat items with an expiration date of the next day are still marked full price.

My last trip in all the celery was limp, the broccoli was discolored, the prepackaged leafy greens were turning soggy, & the chicken was expiring tomorrow

This store is fine. Love shopping here. Produce is fresh, the store is always clean, and the workers are there to help you. But this is the problem. It's not the store. It's the parking here. Hy Vee is in a plaza with other stores, one being Target, Crumble Cookie, Jimmy John's, Chick fil A. I would just say come early or you're going to have a parking issue here.

Our cashier, Aden, was friendly and efficient. He asked if I wanted my groceries double bagged because I had a can of pop and it was a bit heavy. I didn't do it but it was very thoughtful. I also got this adorable Slytherin stuffy on sale! 🐍
