Menards

I needed 8 Mil Plastic Sheeting and they only had one box that was half destroyed. I asked the manager for a discount since most of it was damaged. She was rude and refused to give any discount on it. I thought she would be extra nice seeing as how I was purchasing over $2000 worth of patio furniture from the store. I didn’t make a big fuss about it but I left the store feeling kind of upset that I paid full price for material that was in such poor condition. That will be my last big purchase from this store which is a huge loss for Menards because I’m currently remodeling two houses. If my wife was not there, I would have left the $2000 worth of furniture there and got some elsewhere. My next purchase will be 2000 ft of flooring and underlayment, Insulation and sheet rock for about half of the house and It will be not be from Menards. I will also need new couches doors and many other things. I’m going to go through what unused material I have right now and return it. All My future big purchases will not be from Menards.

Stopped by to get 30 bags of topsoil. Garden center is normally open so I parked next to the exit. Upon arriving I notice the garden center door is closed. Asked customer service if they would be able to open the garden center door for me to exit so I don't have to push around a 1200lb cart. Instead of accepting a sale they refused to allow me to use the garden center exit for a brief moment. I said I will just go to Lowes and the customer service members seemed to not care. Menards will now be my last stop instead of my first.

People in the store were very nice and helpful. Then when we were leaving the person looking at our receipt threw his hands up, rolled his eyes and turned away as soon as we handed him our receipts to check. We did have ALOT of items on our trailer and truck (it IS his job tho) so he may have been frustrated thinking it would take a long time to get threw (which it didn't,) because he was much friendlier when he handed us back our receipts!!

Quality products usually some sort of rebate which is awesome especially if you are a contractor of any sorts. Some items are a little pricey

I Don't HATE Menard's they just have the most ridiculous return policy EVER!************
I shopped at the Menard's in Dubuque Iowa. I spent $411 on various building supplies. When I checked out at the store I paid with a $300 gift card and $111 cash. At the end of my project I had some materials ($89 worth) left over that I wanted to return. I kept all of my receipts and the "customer service" representative told me that they would not give me cash. I told them I no longer had the gift card because who keeps a gift card once it is empty? He said that my ONLY option was store credit. Justin was as nice as he could be and I was /am very irratre about this. He was only enforcing the ridiculous policy. What infuriates me more is that he could offer no logical reason why..... All he would say is "That is the policy" or "The computer won't let me" and the store manager was of no help either. She kept repeating the "company line"

So.... Just explain the reasoning behind this policy. You accepted my AMERICAN CASH.... why can't I have it back? It is not as if I am trying to find a loophole to withdraw cash from my credit card because I want LESS cash than I paid! I DO NOT want my individual situation solved.... I am passed that.... I want the policy explained to me so others do not have to deal with it.

I would love to say that I will never go back but that simply is not true. In the future I will only buy things inexpensively so that Menard's will make the minimum amount of money. If something is inexpensive I'll buy it but if something costs less somewhere else...I'll get it there...I was NOT like that before. I'd just go to Menard's costs be damned.

I have always had a positive experience at Menards but tonight was above and beyond! I purchased a garage door in December and the wrong spring was enclosed. I would like to give a big shout out to Alex the Building Materials Department Manager and crew for sending me home with the correct spring to finish the install! Pleasant, helpful above and beyond! Thanks Guys!

Employees seem to be treated like garbage. A company’s foundation is the staff and some of the higher ups are making it crumble. Will never be supporting this menards again

After spending a lot of money during a remodeling of our whole house over the last 8 years, I am still frustrated today.

As I purchase materials to build a deck, go to the lumber yard and yet no help to load!!!!!

You think spending a couple grand today, you could get help.

5 employees standing around , one comes over to ask if help is needed, I said yes for help loading, and they walked away.

Then during the loading and picking process, several other customers come and the staff continued to ask and help others, but never come back to help. Not the first time this negligence has occurred.

Very frustrated customer ....

I ordered 6 items online for pickup and did to avoid contact and guess. One item was missing of the 6. The receipt shows it but not in the bag. Now to drive 7 miles to get one item seriously. I think they need a second counter or checker to double check the orders. I couldn't image groceries or a larger order. Defeats the whole online shopping

March 2023 I found a Greenworks 14-inch chainsaw on sale for $49.99. Big red tag. Only one kind of Greenworks chainsaw. I double checked the tag compared to the box and the tag said 14 inch Greenworks chainsaw. The Box said 14-inch Greenworks chainsaw. I took the product to the register and it rang up as $215. I told them that's not right it's on sale for $49.99. The cashier refused to come back and look at the tag. A second woman came and also refused to come back with me to look at the tag on the shelf. They paged someone to go and look for a $40 tag and I corrected them saying no it was $49.99. They didn't correct themselves on the intercom. The person they paged never came back and then the second woman that refused to go over and look at the tag went by herself. She came back with the discount tag peeled off the Greenworks display. She told me the product is no longer available. I told her the tag describes exactly what the box is what do you mean it's no longer available? She told me it's no longer available and they can't give me that price. I said fine then I don't want the chainsaw. You guys really need to stop falsely advertising.

I wanted to purchase a small rubber mat. One of the employees led me all the way to the back left side of the store and then tried to convince me that the only way to get a rubber mat would be to purchase a huge roll of it for about $270. You didn't make a sale.

The hardware manager, at the Dubuque , Iowa location, needs to be engaged in customer satisfaction. Instead of walking by a customer, say hi how are you and/or do you have any questions or need help?? He paid more attention to his phone than helping customers.

Ok. Let's start with "I love my Home Depot.". And I love my Lowe's. But...if you haven't shopped at Menards, you really are missing out. The variety, selection, diversity of things in stock at Menards may ONLY be rivaled by Amazon. It's seriously insane. Last trip there I got lumber, plumbing, electrical and...wait for it... Blueberry Cobbler flavored candy corns. Yeah. You read that right.
Plan a couple hours to walk and gawk on your first trip.

It took us awhile to find a paddle switch, but we found our light sockets and furnace filter, freon and bleach just fine. Loved the Halloween displays!!!

Excellent place to buy ALMOST anything you want. Employees have always been friendly, even with a hobbled old guy asking for help. NEVER have I been treated rudely or shoved off to the side. With the 10% rebate it's worth it. Menards is usually fairly inexpensive.

Everybody was super helpful!! Went out of their way and asked if i needed help before i had to go looking for someone! I would recommend!
Update: SUPER BUSY! But its spring. They have things here that Lowes doesnt have and if the same as Lowes, more of a selection. Only thing I was disappointed with was the price of ceramic planters! I was ready to buy 4 and then i saw the price of $220 for them. I was crushed. Would have spent $100 or so, but not $220. 😣

I love Menards, they have most everything a person could need there to build a house, shed or building or fix most anything, including yard items. They have excellent tools & cleaning items as well as pet food & people food. The workers are very helpful.

Employees were curt and dismissive. More interested in stacking shelves than helping a guest.
One of them wore a radio labelled "grocery 501", the other had a tattoo on his fingers that literally spelled "STD" when he pointed to where I should go, because he was too busy chatting with a coworker to help.

Good selection of items, definitely geared towards contractors vs. individuals like me. As a result, staff/helpful knowledge is more limited, but this is the business model and expected. However, if you do need assistance and ask for help, the staff is usually knowledgeable!

I could spend hours and thousands of dollars in Menards. Until I reach that level of financial gain I find all of what i need on the clearance shelves. This is the main reason I shop at Menards. You will find the clearance sections throughout the store, but the one in the carpet section is the best. I've found area rugs, remnants, runners, all for an amazing price. The clearance section I've recently discovered is in the interior door section. You will find discounted closet, panel, hollow, and solid doors marked down to as low as $10 a door. I had a wonderful salesgirl named Cloie help me. The store is located on Hwy 20 heading towards Waterloo which is a bit of a drive for me but definitely worth it.

Yikes!!! Watch out for flat tires!!! Got a flat tire in a brand new tire after driving past this store. The frontage road is filled with debris from the Dittmer garbage trucks hauling waste away from this place. Informed the store manager and he said he was going to talk to the garbage company.

Not good. Pre-ordered online. Went back to Pre-order area and they said that I had to go and pick pcs out. OK??? When I got to the number I needed, the wrong inventory was in the wrong spot so what I need wasnt there even though online they said they had 17pcs on hand. The lady in the work area was trying to help and said they would investigate. She was helpful. Her manager told her that this wasnt Menards fault and I would just have to wait. So whose fault is it and who makes it right for the customer?
