Goodwill Industries of Northeast Iowa, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit agency providing services to persons with disadvantages and/or disabilities mostly supported through the processing of tax-deductible donations received from the general public living in the 22 Northeast Iowa counties of Iowa. We have retail stores located throughout northeast Iowa in Cedar Falls, Waterloo, Dubuque, Waverly, Decorah, Independence, Maquoketa and Oelwein. This is our Dubuque retail store location.
This is a nice Goodwill location that's worth dropping into if you're looking for any number of items. They have many clothes, new home decorations, used home goods, furniture, things that could be used for costumes, etc. There are fitting rooms if you want to try on things.

This location has really gone downhill in the last few years. I had an employee tell me they have people in the back that pull anything they think is valuable to sell on an auction site, and the items that actually reach the shelves are broken down, dirty or useless. They also sell what looks like TEMU items made in China through half the store like wind chimes and garbage trinkets. Theres no organization either, and they’re letting moldy and bad smelling clothing sit on the racks. Save yourself the time and try the Maquoketa or Platteville locations for a better chance at finding anything worthwhile.

This Goodwill is the least organized of any I've been to. Shelves are only half filled but you can see mountains of items in the back when you donate. Clothes are not placed in proper size sections. Rarely do you see stocking being done and if you observe, they are just unloading the items haphazardly. Used to be a fun place to go find bargains. Now it's the same tired things on the shelves week after week. Very disappointing.

There was a time when the Goodwill was grateful for donations. Now they seem to act like they're doing you a favor by ALLOWING you to drop off valuable goods. It's become a demeaning experience that I will no longer contribute to. The people here are combative and argumentative, even when dropping off items that I purchased from the store previously.

Very helpful and nice staff. Found what i needed plus some nice gewgaws. Selection pretty good and prices not bad. Lots of stuff in store so more time to spend the better chance to find real deals. Also nice that it seemed very clean and had restroom facilities. Definitely will be back to check out things missed!

This place is no longer any fun. Anytime you think you found a good deal the cashier will scoff at you and tell you that item was marked up and accuse you of taking off a tag. The fun of the search is over, when you leave you feel ripped off.

I used to love to browse through here but their prices are insane I can buy most of the stuff new for what they charge. Sad to say I don't come here much anymore because of it
Published 3 years ago
Movies and music here is more expensive here than it used to be. I mean $3 for a single DVD? I can buy them at local pawn shops for 50 cents or less because most people are getting rid of them because most people stream their movies online now. Clearly whoever is making up these prices should be fired. Even Iowa City's and Cedar Rapids' thrift stores have better prices on donated secondhand goods.

A dear dear man found my wife's wedding ring. He put them in his pocket and went about his work.
Later he dropped the ring off with Kathy at Hotel Julien.
Who does this?
I am beyond thankful. Stunned.
I don't access Heaven often, but today I knocked on it's door.
I wish the Higher Power to touch this man's heart. To make his world sweeter.
Unreal.

Was siting in a chair waiting for my other hafe to finish shoping. Was told not allowed to sit where I was looking at books. There where no signs posted. Was told cause people can't buy it then. Well then I took everthing I had in the cart and back on shelf. Don't need my business and won't be back ether. Also when I left store there was also a 80+ year old veteran that was siting at a table with 4 chairs. He too had to get up. He told his wife he needed car keys to go sit in car till she was done shoping . His is wife was also upsett about this.

Donated two boxes of household goods and the gentleman who was taking donations was very combative. I asked him if I could have my two plastic totes back and he said with exasperation “I knew you were going to ask for that”. Even though they throw everything into huge bins on wheels (which I helped unload my own items into). The two boxes I brought seemed to be quite an inconvenience. It’s interesting to hear people make comments like that when these donated goods pay for your paycheck. I’ll be taking our donations to somewhere that appreciates them in the future.

Store was better than most goodwill stores but they are some of the rudest and no manners people that I have come in contact with. Didn't know it was a cardinal sin to ask a question about pricing. Not all the stores are run and operated the same. Shame on me for not knowing I guess..

Mostly all just women's clothes. Not worth it if you're not into that. Store is big and open floor plan but needs more variety. While I'd really like to find a Goodwill that sells more older electronics, even smaller stores have more selection than this one.

Worthless. They don’t ever take any items - kind of defeats the purpose of taking stuff to goodwill. Also, the lead lady at the drive up is consistently super rude.
A rumor I’ve heard, is that they have a warehouse full of stuff that they can’t get organized enough to sell and make room for more stuff - that’s why they don’t accept many items.
If they had their act together they could sell things online and eliminate the warehouse surplus.

I mean, what's there to say? Rude customer service, always yelling and rushing. Lines are longer than those at Walmart, if possible. Someone mentioned in their review that nothing is sorted according to size, they are right. It's such a mess. Only reason for three stars, you can find some neat treasures if you have time. But...they get these items for free, so why charge $3 for a plastic bowl??

I thought the store was clean and organized. They can’t help it when shoppers put things back where they don’t belong cuz it is more convenient for them. I saw a shopper put back a whole handful of clothes. They just shoved them in the middle of the rack of children’s clothes when they were obviously adult women’s clothes. Inconsiderate people.
Staff was helpful. If they didn’t know the answer they found someone who did. I be shopped there many times since I moved to town 3yrs ago and will continue coming back!

I am definitely not a fan of this particular Goodwill location. I find it to be dirty and unorganized. I have rarely found anything that I liked there. I think one time I bought a jacket and a picture frame. Aside from that, they sell some things that are broken. Why put it on the shelf? Why donate it in the first place? They need to be better about sorting things.

It's possible to have decent finds there, but it takes a lot of searching. I've been to countless Goodwills and this is probably the least organized. Most clothing isn't even sorted by size. Some, such as coats, aren't even sorted by sex. All household goods are just randomly placed around the outside of the store with prices written on in permanent markers. Little rhyme or reason to anything.

Very unclean store! Everything was disorganized and 3 out of 4 items I picked up were not priced. The prices were high for donated items sold for profit and higher than I've seen in other, smaller Goodwill stores. It has the potential to be really nice if someone managed it right.

Prices are generally reasonable. Merchandise a semi organized. Inventory turns over quickly so the stock is always varied. A fact you should be aware of is that when school is closed for bad weather all items in the store are a a dollar it's advisable on these days to get there early because there are people who buy cart loads of stuff to resell and stock other charities. As a charity Goodwill has a reputation of being more of a business. But they do employ people with disabilities. And it does give you an opportunity to buy clothing and household items at reasonable prices
