The Spice & Tea Exchange of Annapolis

The shop itself is nice, and the staff are welcoming and helpful. The selection is wide, but if you are into traditional single ingredient teas you will be dissapointed by their underwhelming selection. Under 10 single ingredient teas and prices are a bit higher than I think is worth it. Most of the teas are over 10$ per ounce. Highly reccomend the ruby oolong tho. Would rate higher if better selection of single ingredient teas.

A charming shop filled with delights.
The tea selection is expansive and diverse, the spices are a dream for anyone who loves to cook and add a little something special.
Their collections and other accessories would make an ideal gift.
I strongly suggest the Emperor’s Chai. Has a scrumptious spice and it makes an absolutely stellar dirty chai.

A great place offering a wealth of smells between salts, spices, seasonings and teas! Despite being located on Main Street the prices are quite fair (unless compared to the incredibly cheap spice bazaars of Turkey).

Each staff member we’ve worked with during our visits has been incredibly friendly and offered great suggestions based on our tastes and what we’re seeking.

We’ve tried many of the teas, with our current favorites pictured (Sinfully Cherry, Craving Crusher, Beauty Rest), each delightfully serving their intended purpose! As far as spices go, we are HOOKED on the Black Truffle Garlic — we put it on everything. Now that we’ve kicked our keto diet we are looking forward to the Honey Truffle 🤤

Highly recommend a visit, if even just to smell the jars!

We walked in on a whim walking down Main Street after dinner. The staff was very friendly and helpful like the other reviews have stated. I loved the layout of the store, décor, colors, storefront and the aromas. Great variety of spices, teas, salts, and sugars in the shop. They also have infusers, frozen drink mixes, postcard recipes (unique), etc. You can open up the big spices and smell them. One of the staff members greeted us when we walked in and let us do this to introduce us to how the store works. Spice and Tea Exchange is a store I can see myself buying gifts for the cooks and tea lovers in my family or group of friends or another random gift that the store carries that I mentioned. We will be back in the future if we come back to Annapolis and I will pick up some gifts this time.

We visited Annapolis, MD a few weeks ago and knew I had to stop into this beautiful establishment when we saw it from the other side of the street.

I loved the beautiful decor and various smells wafting through the air. I had a very difficult time deciding which tea to try, since they had so many flavors and I have a few favorites at home already. One of the staff was very helpful in assisting me with picking out a blend that I was excited to try at home. Fireside Spice has proven to be a warm, perfect for my palette, and comforting choice. I'll definitely be back to try a new blend in the future!

Fabulous tea shop. Friendly, expert and knowledgeable customer service staff. A bit pricey but you can find teas here and nowhere else. Bulk tea as well. They do offer a next purchase discount that we use. Located in the business district. There is pay public parking out back and maybe street parking, if you dont mind walking.

This store is dangerous in the best way. The staff were all so helpful and friendly! There are so many options for teas, spices, salts, sugars and gift sets too! We got a little bit of everything and did some Christmas shopping! It was great to sample some of the tea and see all the recipe cards too.

I traveled half an hour specifically to this shop to search for a gift based on the glowing reviews about this shop. I was pleasantly surprised by the amazing array of spices, flavored salts, sugars, and teas. I thought I was definitely in the right place for her gift. However, I was deeply disappointed with the lack of assistance by Ca and Ch. When I entered the shop, Ca greeted me with a hello from the register. I responded back to her and proceeded to look around. Ch was at the back of the store at what looked like a tea bar. He never acknowledged me and kept placing stickers on a page. I spent 20 minutes in the shop looking around. Neither Ca nor Ch ever inquired about what I was looking for or asked to assist me. However, I observed Ca greeting three other customers who came in after me. One set of guests, she came from behind the register to specifically ask them what they came in for today and helped them to pick out items. Ch walked past me as he went to ring up a customer waiting at the register and then walked past me again when he was done as he walked back to the tea bar area. I was standing next to the register where Ca had returned to, and she continued to say nothing to me. But when two ladies walked in a few moments later, she welcomed them in and asked if it was their first time in the shop. She proceeded to inform the ladies of where the different category of products were located in the store. By this time, I had concluded my tour of the shop and left to exit the store. Ca was again back at the register and told me thank you for stopping by. At least I could get acknowledged that I was leaving. Huge disappointing trip and a waste of my time to purposely come to shop and not be welcomed. Update: The store owner, Joy Q, called me about my review. She took the time to review about 3 hours of video footage, looking for when I entered the store. She sincerely apologized to me for my experience. She talked to me about what the correct procedure should have been upon my arrival in the store. Joy also spoke with the employee about the visit and what she viewed on the video footage. I felt heard and acknowledged by Joy. I do plan to visit another one of the locations in the future. She also requested that I keep her phone number and to let her know how my visit to a different goes.

We stopped in here on a whim and I am so glad that I did. I got three kinds of tea and a sugar as well as a tea infuser and I used them for the first time today. I got the Blueberry black tea, Earl Gray, and Earl Gray crème and the vanilla sugar. I love this store and I can t wait to use everything I got and get new flavors to try!!

I travel/ live internationally & pack my spices w/ me where ever I go. When I stumbled upon this spot, I was geeked and initially had a field day.... until a female staffer, slim, around 55 started questioning the verity of my knowledge about teas and spices. For whatever reason *eh ehm*, it seemed surprising to her or odd that I would know my way around a store like this. Its like she was looking for a hole in my storyz situation. This was some yrs ago but now that Im back in the area, Im having some slight trepidation about returning if staffers feel so comfortable to be so low-key accusatory and high-key unprofessional w/ Certain Clientel.

I bought an infuser cup in May on a visit to Annapolis. I also bought several bags of Earl Grey and Ruby Oolong teas. When I got back to Florida I found that my lid to my infuser cup was not in the box. I emailed the shop and the owner sent me a new lid. What a great place to shop!! Not many businesses today follow up on errors because they don t seem to care; however, this shop was thoughtful and truly went beyond expectations!! Go buy some tea!!

I enjoyed British the selection of teas and spices. The mystic dragon tea was a favorite smell and it was tasty as a cold tea. The staff was friendly and helpful. Will be back the next time Im in Annapolis.

Had a interesting variety of spices, sugars and teas. Loved the scents and the variety to choose from. The white teas were a bit weak for me personally but you can definitely taste the accompanying notes. I absolutley loved the different sugars! Highly recommend, they are so different than what you would expect.

Love this place! My boyfriend and I stopped by on our one day get away about a week ago. Incredible selection of spices and teas and great kitchen and tea wares. We bought a nice Chesapeake spice mix, and a fantastic apple tea. The nice lady behind the counter was so helpful and gave us suggestions on what we could do with the tea, even as ice cream topper! I only wish I lived closer, but when I m back in Annapolis I will certainly return. Until then I plan to order online, because that tea is now one of my favorites!

Love them. Their spice combinations are awesome. Their Vics Garlic Salt gets used in our kitchen all the time... cant live without it. Locations in Annapolis and Frederick MD. The Ocean City location is closed.

Today we were here in Annapolis for the day. We stoped in to grab some tea from this location. We usually go to the Rehoboth store In Delaware. When we entered the store a very nice sales person approached us and asked if we had been before. We did tell her we had in Rehoboth. She told us the special was buy to bags of tea and get a free sugar. Great we thought. So instead of the one bag we chose two. As we went to check out the manager Melanie approached us and told us we needed to get three bags to get the tiny bag of sugar. The sales person that had helped us earlier tried to tell her that she was told yesterday that it was two bags. The manager turned around and said It s only her second day and it s three bags in a very unprofessional way. We decided to not purchase anything and left due to her attitude. VERY POOR customer service. We will continue to visit the Rehoboth location where they know how to treat their guests and their employees better.

Poor customer service. Cashier overcharged us for an item by mistake. She tried to fix it. Her superior didnt care to make it right. Now we have to wait 3-5 days for a refund. All they say is not our fault,the system does it. They lost our sale and our business.

I cant go to Annapolis without buying a bag of tea or more from here. (Their spices have been delicious as well, buy Im more of a tea person.) The staff is super helpful.

Fun place for current and aspiring cooks and gourmands to frequent. I really enjoy their selection and variety of spice and tea blends, and they frequently have their house-made recipes on showcase in the back with samples of teas, cocktails, snacks, and so forth. The truffle salt I got from Spice & Tea Exchange is the most flavorful variety Ive ever bought. Pricey but worth it.
