Got my mom a pasta cooking class for Christmas. It was so much fun! Chef Paula was a hoot and we really enjoyed her. We ended up with some great new recipes and had a blast doing it.

Very disappointed in their service and the reliability of the company’s inventory system. I ordered a frother to be delivered at my home and my order gets canceled two days after. After checking this store’s inventory, I traveled an hour to get a products only to be told by the store manager that 1) my product is not available and 2) product availability is (as shown online) is not reliable. And this is supposed to be a serious retailer?!

Main takeaway: Don't come here if you have any dietary restrictions even if they say they can accommodate you. Chef Abrar has been wonderful for previous classes, but other chefs at this location might not be as good at teaching.

Long explanation:
I took the Holiday Tamales cooking class at the North Bethesda location. I was attending with someone who is vegan so I called and emailed several times in advance to find out which classes could accommodate that restriction. I was told any class could accommodate this, so I asked specifically about the tamales class. I was told it would work and they'd notify the chef.

The day of the class I told them I had reached out about vegan substitutions, and the chef said she had not been told. She did the best she could on the spot to make changes but we ended up missing out on the majority of the food. We had to pick up dinner afterwards because it was so little food.

In addition instructions throughout the class were unclear. We had to request a copy of the recipe and watch the station next to us to try to follow along (note that the in-class instruction did not match the printed recipes). The chef did not pay much attention to us and our station often had trouble getting her attention for questions about what we should be doing.

Overall this class was a very disappointing experience, and I would not recommend it.

I took a pasta making class here with Chef Abrar about a year ago and had a wonderful experience.

Let’s face it, the only reason why some of us know about this brand or how to pronounce the name is likely thanks to South Park. Anyway this is a very nice kitchen supply store with plenty of kitchen tools and other products that any serious amateur chef would love. I totally recommend checking this place out if you’re really invested in and into cooking, Baking etc or if you know someone who is and wanna get them a nice gift.

I try not to get too deep into bad reviews but this one I have to only for the sake that the next person really can get a better experience than me. 1st we didn’t start the class on time. 2nd the chef said they were missing ingredients. 3 no beverages for a date night dinner? Weird right. 4th this class did not feel taught it was almost as if we were giving ingredients with a small summary of what to do and then if we had questions to ask. 5 everything we made was terrible could it have just been me? Nope everyone in the class agreed.6 we didn’t have the dessert that was planned because it couldn’t settle, and we didn’t even get to prepare it we were giving a small amount of ice cream that wasn’t even a potion size big enough for a child. 6th it was not food safe mixing raw chicken dishes with non-raw. This was my first cooking class, so I went into it with high expectations and left with the worse experience I’ve had in a while. The chef wasn’t rude or anything he just wasn’t teaching how the class should be taught. This glass was a gift from me to a friend who was in town for their birthday and for it to be almost $100 per person and we still had to get food after because everything was so bad. Definitely not a date night experience as advertised. Everyone in the class felt this way so it wasn’t just me. I do hope this location does better after reading this review because there is so much potential there. The staff on duty did take all 6 of the participants thoughts after the class and said that a manager (Amy I believe) would reach back out. It’s been 3 days, and I still haven’t heard anything. I normally don’t ask for refunds, but this class basically felt like I gave them $200 just to play in our face. I don’t know if I would even pay $50 per person for the class. I hope the manager reaches back out with an apology and a full refund not a store credit or gift card because if I could give this review a .2 of a star I really would and that’s not even who I am. Btw this was the Bethesda MD location. Last note, the class started late and ended almost a hour early.

Disappointed with the cooking class. 4 people to one portion of food. Waiting for 20 minutes before even starting. I regret not staying until the end only because now I don't feel fully justified in leaving a review. Outrageous cost for low quality ingredients.
The good parts, the chef was cool, the store merchandise looks great.

Went to a Thai cooking class. Very disorganized with minimal actual instruction. Instructor wasn’t good at leading a class and looked annoyed when people asked questions or tried to engage. Food ended up pretty mediocre too. It was all around disappointing. Wouldn’t recommend, especially for the price they charge.

Neat store with unique gifts and gadgets. Me and a friend took one of the cooking classes recently. It was really fun and the food we cooked was great. The only thing I could say negatively is that the Chef seemed preoccupied. He didn't ask about anyone's level of cooking experience or skill and didn't explain much of anything as he read instructions from a paper. Me and my friend aren't hard to please so we still had a good time.

This was worth the experience. The teaching Chef was completely disorganized and ingredients were left on the trays. It actually made me feel better as a cook. It’s like we watched them drop a ball, but the food still came out amazing!

I came for a cooking class, and it was fun. I wish it was 2 people per station versus 4 to one. With it being 4, it was barely any work to do, and it was hard to evenly split duties. I'd even be willing to pay double to avoid that. I wish the class was a bit more challenging. But the food came out real good. Our chef was very helpful and gave us clear instructions. I would be interested in booking this as a private class with just my friends. I love the products in the store as well. The staff was very kind as well.

We went to a pasta cooking class here with a couple of friends. The food we made was so salty that we couldn’t eat it (the chef over salted the water). In addition we barely made any food and there were no appetizers or anything so we didn’t end up eating until 9pm.
Not worth the money.

Visited sur la table for their cooking class. Chef Latisha was great! However, it should be made clear that the classes are in groups of four and it was difficult to cook two dishes together. Chef Latisha guided us and gave us tips, but overall, would not go back because price for the whole experience was not worth it.

Disappointing product quality & customer service.

I purchased a pizza stone in November, and after just 2 uses, it completely cracked in half in the oven.

I attempted to return the item in store, but no longer had the receipt. Sur La Table had an itemized record of the transaction, yet they refused to process a refund.

This is very poor customer service.

Selection is decent for home chefs. Customer service is very amusing - I now play a game of waiting for someone to greet me or ask if they can help me and it never happens. Staff can be standing right at the front of the store when one walks in or pass you in an aisle and they never say a thing.

Don’t go to the Pike & Rose store. The w are rude, and don’t know the products I brought back some items that I purchased online that hadn’t even been open and out of their packing. The employee spent an inordinate time looking at each item and then saying they were used. Fortunately after 20-30 minutes the manager was called and stepped in. He seemed great. I know that employees are hard to find, so im sorry for him.

I recently attended a French patisserie cooking class at Sur La Table, and it was a blast. Our chef instructor, Karla, was fantastic - knowledgeable and fun. The kitchen setup was great, but it could have been even better with fewer people per station.

Despite that, I had a fantastic time and learned a lot. Overall, I'd highly recommend Sur La Table's cooking classes, especially if you're into pastries. It's a great way to have fun while picking up some new cooking skills

I’ve had a wonderful shopping experiences at Pike&Rose Sur La Table, mostly due to the associate Jasmine (who has the same name as me lol) but she went above and beyond for me because I came in on a whim a few weeks ago and found this beautiful Miyabi 8’ Chef knife but they didn’t have it in stock at the time, Jasmine took my number down & kept in touch and held the knife for me till I was able to come back plus she was able to price match a Cuisinart Food Processor!!! She made shopping at Sur La table very pleasant, I’m so thankful to her!

Not sure where this Tom guy came from but he was fantastic. First off, he seems to know everything about every section of the store. Second, he was charming and interactive with my whole family. Third, even though I come into this store all of the time, he was the first to ask if I was a veteran (I am) and got me a discount.

I always stop at Sur La Table when at Pike and Rose. They have friendly and helpful staff and you can actually see what you are buying as opposed to buying online. There are many items that the price matches the Amazon and other online retailers so I'd rather purchase in the store.

Look. Like many retail shops now, it's mostly for gadget or novelty lovers. Though they have formidable 'heavy' gear, it's not set up or equipped for professionals. The manager sent me to Professional culinary store 24 miles away .To their credit, there's a teaching kitchen and when they do stock what you're looking for, they have a decent selection.

The cooking class was fun. We made three different types of gnocchi and they all turned out great. I am excited to try to make my own gnocchi from scratch at home. The instructor was good and informative. The only down side is due to county regulations you cannot take any extra food home with you. This is unfortunate for sur la table and I am disappointed the county would restrict something like this. Anyways - I'd recommend it as a fun activity to do with your significant other, mother, father, friend, sibling, or coworker!

Dishonest, ignorant and rude.

That describes my shopping experience today at La Sur in Pike and Rose.
I received a promotional mailing and email stating 20% off on all purchases. I have attached a picture of the promotion for clarity.
I went there specifically to by a Bob Kramer paring knife, which they list for $199. They refused to honor the offer. First, they tried to switch me to another, far inferior knife that they had on special, sure they probably make more money on it, and they had the nerve to say the knife was just as good. Obviously, they don’t know anything about what they are selling or are simply lying. Kramer is there absolute top of the line knife that they sell.
Then they tell me I needed to show them the knife at the same price in and ad.
I pulled out my phone and found it in about 2 minutes on the Cutlery and More website. Same knife clearly marked 20% off. The manager refused to look to look at it.
I told her she was being dumb and was a bad business person. She had her goon tell me in a menacing way that nobody calls his boss names (dumb!!) and to leave the store.
I am in disbelief how dishonest and rude La Sur was.
You can find everything they sell at William Sonoma or on Amazon.
I don’t need to do business with cheats, liars and thugs.

The retail staff were really pleasant and patient with us wanting to browse a bit after the class too!
