I've been shopping here since I moved into the city 14 years ago. The store is always clean, staff is usually friendly and helpful and prices are usually decent for an inner city supermarket. I love the deli counter with it's selection of fresh hot and cold dishes and this market seems to have it's own in house butcher shop. The only complaint I really have is the bottle return is always full.

I come to University Foods at least 2-3 times a week and my experience is always wonderful! The customer service is great, especially my experience with the cashier, Kalnate. The Deli serves a variety of amazing foods and I love ordering the chicken shawarma from there. I highly recommend this store to anyone who's around the midtown area.

The problem with chain grocery stores is that while they’ll have national items that we all know and love, it can be hard to find higher-quality items from time to time. The problem with shopping at a organic grocers is the opposite - Traditional items are harder to find. University Foods is nice because they bridge the gap for both. The selection is a bit more limited for those on a budget, but that doesn’t mean that this place doesn’t have rock-solid deals if you know how to shop right (and I’d like to hope that an increase in patronage would lead to an increase in purchasing power for the store.) I wish the hours were a bit longer, but that’s my only complaint.

The food here is out of date but to know that they put the up to date sticker on it when you buy it and open the package it's a foul smell try to take it back to get another one but they claiming that I did that and how did I do that when I brought it from their place 😆

For the overpriced food that they have it is definitely not worth it especially the fresh fruit was terrible tasting and the employees are some of the rudest people I've ever met in my entire life and I will never be back it's literally not worth it for the prices I love supporting smaller grocery stores but I will never ever be back to this place and I would not recommend it to anybody

I have a service animal and the one of the cashier is allergic to animals so the manager advised me NO ANIMALS WERE ALLOWED I told him my dog is. A service animal (the manager told me one of his cashier was allergic (I Told Him MY SERVICE ANIMAL is protected under the ADA and He was in violation also I told him if you DENIED me to shop here I WOULD FILE A Complaint against this store so now I have no problems at all shopping the prices are over over high but the store is clean the food Counter has great hot food and I use the DTE bill payment in store

University Foods carries a wide assortment of groceries. As in competing grocery stores, many brands here are nationally known, but this store offers more than a few products that you would expect in a specialty market.

The Hot food counter located at the entrance has some good food, shawarma, Fried Chicken, Pizza, Bread sticks, pasta salads, slaws, and more. Some local products, and your usual know brands throughout the store. Prices are high for a lot of items unless there's a sale. Check Cashing, and Bill payment.

The cashier (older women with glasses and ponytail) who was sitting using her phone literally told me to F off when I placed my groceries at her open register (with the open light on). This was around 6PM Feb 11 2022.

I recently brought a pint of organic ice cream. When I got home I realized it was expired. The expiration date was from 2020. My money was refunded. Today I looking at the sale price for butter. 99 cent for 4 sticks. I thought what a steal. However, the expiration date was February 1. I told the owner, short older guy with glasses, he said this is why the butter is 99 cent. I thought food on the shelves after the expiration date was a no no. However, here that rule doesn't apply. What a shame the greed is endless.

University Foods has received a beautiful new look.. it is now sparking and the aisles are really well stocked. The blueberries I bought were the best ever. What a great resource for our midtown neighborhood!

Good market, & clean. Gets crowded between 3-5 o'clock though. Deli, pharmacy, & Flagstar bank, ups center & DTE Bill pay kiosk located inside market. Kind caring staff give or take one cashier.This store will more than likely have what you need.

I report this location to health department due to the staff that pack the meat .dont have gloves or mask on and they handle our meet this how you serve the area .so dissatisfied with food safety at this market .

Avoid buying meat here. Many complaints abound. However, I do like some of the produce offerings, and some of their frozen and canned goods in a pinch and a few of the hot-food counter items are good. The store is kept relatively clean. I think this grocery store similar to the other store on E. Warren manages on the 'captive-audience' factor! People that go there cannot go elsewhere. I'd like to see more diverse options for their produce.

Overpriced. Not a big selection like a Kroger. This store closes earlier than other stores. It closes at 7p, even on busy weekends. Overall, disappointing.

Whole Foods is a store they can't be compared to basically any other store because of its ability to deliver good produce that has not been subject to herbicides and insecticides the prices are reasonable and people complain about the prices but I find them quite reasonable

Good selection for the size of this store but, not perfect. The other day I went to University Foods and a guy at the door was turning people away telling them face masks were mandatory due to a Governor's order. People wasted trips to shop there. After researching, I couldn't find any governor order saying that. I went to a couple of nearby markets and no one was being turned away for not having a mask. Same goes for Meijer. University Foods lost my business that day, and maybe permanently. There are other places close by that are just as good. They should not take their customers for granted!

I called the store and asked them If they had a certain item at the store, the gentlemen assured me, that the item was there. Fast af. Anyways, I went there after the phone call and the item wasn’t there and no body could give me explanation. Whoever it was, didn’t even bother to look and see if the item was actually there. I love the atmosphere and quality of the products in this market. The people are friendly and it's an easy commute from my home. In addition, I know the owners by name and they are always engaging. In my opinion...that's what makes it a family store. Especially, if you see something you desire not on the shelves...you can mention it and they may order it for you. I recently had them to purchase my favorite snack "Pop Daddy" popcorn. But, the pricing in this store doesn't allow me to shop in quantity. But, if you are shopping with foodstamps...you will find perks...
