There's no wonder why Farmhouse needed to expand its space recently. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but the atmosphere and people are what really make this place special.

Quaint lunch deli with farm benches for outside eating and tables inside for eating. There is a long line at lunch, but the food is worth the wait. We have the salmon and kale salad which were absolutely delicious. There are plenty of beverages and plenty of desserts if desired, both peanut free and regular.

Great selection of sandwiches, danish pastries and cakes. Friendly staff. Prices about what you’d expect to pay in a classy hotel. Single portion desserts when you tiny feel like leaving the hotel. Open 8 am until 8 pm.

An absolute must stop! We enjoyed a fabulous luncheon. They offer a variety of healthy packaged foods, lunches, to grab for take out or order. They have an assortment of beverages and desserts including very tasty gluten free and vegan options. They are busy but have a lot of indoor seat and some outdoor seating as well.

My favorite new place to pick up savory delights. The salmon jerky is out of this world. The kale caesar salad is absolutely delicious, and I always thought I didn't like kale. They have such a wonderful selection, and not the typical items you might see at a deli. So hard to choose. We ate lunch while we were there, and the sandwiches were huge and yummy!

My family stopped in here 3 out of 4 days for lunch during our trip to Saugatuck/Douglas. It was so delicious. Kids smashed their grilled cheese, and my wife and I shared an excellent vegan Bahn mi along with the salad "trio". Three amazing deli salads on top of the best kale caesar salad I have ever had. It was that kale that kept me coming back. Kale! Go figure. It was that good.

Tuna salad sandwich was bland. No lemon zest or pickle taste, other than the dill slice they left packaged alongside my sandwich which leached into the bread and ruined it! Not enough veggies either. Seriously $15 for a soggy and flavorless sandwich? What a ripoff. The people here saying this place rules must not have working taste buds. Do not recommend for anyone traveling through saugatuck.

The food here may be excellent, however after waiting over an hour for 2 sandwiches only to have a cold grilled cheese on white bread, I won’t be back. They did post a wait time of 45 min so I was prepared for that, but around the 30 min mark, I watched those after me start to get their food. At 50 min, I asked to check on my food. I had to ask 4 times. Each time, the person would walk away and never come back. I finally got my Mufalleta and kids grilled cheese at just over an hour wait. The grilled cheese was ice cold and on plain white bread. I can’t believe I paid for it but at that point just wanted to leave. I had to get my son something else to eat. The Mufalleta was decent with quality ingredients but absolutely not worth the wait and hassle. Never again.

While visiting from out of town I decided to meander around and visit some other towns. Since arriving in Michigan I had been craving a sandwich and recognized that for whatever reason it's kind of hard to find a cold sub here!! So when I saw the Farmhouse deli sign I pulled in! I could tell from the packed parking lot that it was going to be pretty busy so I wasn't surprised to see a large line when got inside. They were very up front in letting me know that sandwiches were running about a half hour and so I just decided to grab a cold sandwich and some side dishes and have a picnic at my air BNB. The ladies working there were very nice and doing well to keep up with the crowds. In fact despite how busy it was one actually brought me a basket when she noticed that I was full-handed and continuing to add to my cache.
I loved the broccoli/kale/brussel sprout salad and could have doubled down on that. I appreciate that it did not have heavy mayonnaise or oil which is so hard to find in a good broccoli salad. I was most excited about the beet salad but I have to admit that I tossed it after one bite. Cumin and beats are a combination that I do not enjoy. The egg salad on the other hand was quite yummy.
One piece of feedback would be to give a little bit more information on the prepared sandwiches. My only option was a Jambon Buerre which had Rosemary ham and at least a quarter stick of butter. It looked delicious but I had never eaten one before. I thought maybe it was a Michigan sandwich so I sent pictures to my friend and asked her how I was supposed to eat it and she Let me know it was not a Michigan thing and that her guess would be that I should cook it to melt the butter. When I sent my husband a picture he said the same thing. I really wanted a cold sandwich so I took the extra step to look it up and was glad to see that it is in fact a cold sandwich although I'll probably remove a little bit of that butter. I bought a few extra supplies as well and everything was delicious.

To the gentleman who accused them of being political for flying a pride flag and not flying a US flag in July, just stop. Unless they came up to your shop and accused you of not flying a pride flag along with your US flag then they are not the ones being political.

Our whole family LOVED this restaurant. While staying in South Haven, we drove up to Douglas (about 20 minutes) on our way to Saugatuck to eat here based on a friend’s recommendation. They offer deli counter salads, soup, fresh bakery, a coffee bar and the most delicious sandwiches. My son said he had the best Cubano sandwich he has ever had here. I had the best vegan Tofu Bahn Mi and vegan “Ding Dongs” fresh made in their bakery. This restaurant serves meat but also offers several vegan options in the deli case salads, a couple sandwich options, wonderful vegan bakery items and nondairy milks for the coffee/teas. The service was friendly and efficiently handled the people lined up to order. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. We made a special trip the next day to go back and eat here a second time and returned later in the day for a third visit. Highly recommend for omnivores, vegan, vegetarian and even some Gluten
free.

Three of us had the Vegan Bahn Mi (mine without Jalepenos) and it was delicious. All three of us enjoyed that. My MIL had the pastrami and she really liked that.

The vegan Ding dong was moist and nice and the lemon bar was great as well. I didn’t try the carrot cake but my husbands parents enjoyed it.

Chris (owner) and Christina (catering manager) and their entire crew did an incredible job catering our wedding dinner for 35 people at Summerhouse Lavender Farm, Fennville Michigan, in June of 2024. The food was the best I have ever enjoyed at a catered event. (We three options: halibut with blackberry sauce, lemon chicken, and stuffed peppers for the vegetarians. The salads, baguettes and butter, brussel sprouts, and roasted potatoes were delicious. Everything was EXCELLENT!). The appetizers went beyond what was promised. And, the service was amazing. With only 15 minutes to adjust, we had to move our ceremony inside the dinner tent because of rain. The Farmhouse team didn’t miss a step, and all took care of us with smiles and efficiency even though they had expected to be able to set up in the tent while we held our ceremony outdoors. And, there were many touches that were not part of our contract. Here are just two examples: They brought in a large punch bowl with ice for the beverages we supplied, and they brought pedestals to display our four cakes. (We brought the cakes from a small bakery we like called “Make it Sweet” in East Lansing, Michigan.)

In summary, Chris and Christina both made it clear that they love what they do, and it shows every step of the way. I would give them six stars if that rating were available.

Great stop on Blue Star Highway right before you enter Saugatuck from the South. Busy shop with unique tasty sandwiches like a California Reuben and Breakfast burrito. They had vitality fresh mixed juice shots which took a while to make but were very tasty. The place was packed on the weekend with both dine-in and takeout, but there are tables outside to sit while the weather was very nice. Very fresh selection of desserts too.

Eh... I honestly don't understand how there are so many positive reviews. I had a pretty poor experience and it seems like the deli is not being managed well. I personally would not recommend this place.
1) Wait Time - waited nearly an 1 1/2 hours for (2) sandwiches. That is absurd and obviously, something is off in their kitchen to cause such a backlog.
2) Communication - no one communicated to us that there would be such a long wait or else we would have grabbed bakery items/ cold items and left. Seems dishonest to withhold and not advertise this information (very cash grabby).
3) 50/50 Taste - got the the vegan banh mi - this was curry tofu on bread not a banh mi... Ended up with a stomach ache. (Not a lot of veggie / vegan options considering the vibe and demographic of the place - basically 2 options 3 if you count eggs) Lemon bar was soupy. Cake was good, pork sandwich okay.
4) Bad Layout - their layout seems confusing and chaotic. You are intended to do a U but you have staff coming from all directions so it is unclear who is supposed to be taking your order and it stalls the line (seems like the sandwiches/ cold items should be separate from bakery/ salad and have their own check out).
5) Staff Yelling - in line with the bad layout multiple times staff is yelling out to patrons to get their attention but nobody can follow what's going on so the Staff was straight up being ignored and the line is stalled. The system for handing out sandwiches is just the staff walking around shouting people's names. Felt bad for the staff because it seems inefficient and stressful. Should get a loud speaker system and have a counter for pickup.
6) Angry Customers - people definitely got upset started complaining at the counter to get their food and jump the line situation. Everyone walking away with sandwiches were basically shaking their head and scoffing, one guy even started yelling as he walked out the door. It was an extremely uneasy and unpleasant vibe throughout.

I drive almost 4 hrs there and 4 hrs back at least once a month or so bc the food is just that good ... all fresh local sustainable ingredients prepared with genius and love every bite takes you on an adventure The muffulata and cubano are two of my all time favorite sandwiches. The carrot cake is The Best You'll ever have. The staff always greats you with a smile and is very helpful and you always feel wonderful after whatever you eat bc it's all healthy amazing ingredients. The shop has tons of specialty drinks & eats to take with you and trust me I usually stock up every time I visit. My group ordered ahead online and our food wasn't ready until 45 minutes afterwards. The food was good, but not great. The BBQ pork sandwich was too sweet, and the Bahn Mi wasn't a true Bahn Mi rather something inspired by Bahn Mi. The deli items we bought were better than the sandwiches. We didn't like the juice, but it was exactly what it said it was.

I have been coming here for years, yesterday was the first day i had made it in since the remodel and wow its not even close to the same quality. Looked like staff was all under the age of 18 and they were doing great considering how busy it was but you could tell there was no system to any of it. I had Ordered a Cali Ruben. They had put the wrong name so when they called it i didn't think it was mine. I absolutely love everything about this place. It’s a bit on the pricey side for a deli, but the food is so fresh and delicious- it’s worth it! I wish I could eat here every day! This was an " oh, let's stop here for lunch" occasion. We found the parking lot so full, we had to wait for a spot to park. If it is any indication of how good the food is.there were two drivers who aggressively claimed a space while I allowed the previous person to get out. I guess they knew the food was so good, they had to get as soon as they could.
The food was really good. We found that their gluten free food was plentiful. What a delight! The whole experience was good. Thanks to the staff who were kind to us first timers. They and our meals made a great impression on us.

Recommended by a Douglas resident, this place has everything. It is served cafeteria style. You walk up, order, and it is brought to you. The meatloaf, fresh out of the oven, was delicious. Very nice atmosphere, surprisingly quiet. Very enjoyable. A little pricey, but well worth it. Nice selection of everything including baked goods, pizzas, salads, sandwiches. They have something there for even the most finicky eater. You won't be sorry!

Everything was great from the meatloaf to the croissant excellent. Carrot cake had a reputation to keep I tried and it was the best we ever had. If we come this way again it will be the first place we visit

Delicious food in beautifully remodeled space. Sandwiches, sides, and desserts are all fantastic and made with simple yet high-quality ingredients. I haven't had a disappointing meal here yet in six or so years. What used to be carry out only, is now dine in! Plus many vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free choices.

After getting burnt with restaurant dining options in South Haven and Saugatuck, we have decided to give this deli a chance. We ordered pork bahn mi and cubano sandwich for lunch and they were delicious. Fresh ingredients and good breads. They also have coffee and other beverages if you want to stop by for lunch/breakfast. We went back the same day to get ruben sandwich for the road - also very yummy.

There is a big table to eat inside or multiple tables outside. The staff was very friendly and apart from a slightly longer than expected wait, everything was great. Def recommend if you are in this area.

This is my favorite place. The food is so fresh and amazing. The people there are so nice. I come in every day when I'm in town and it's honestly the highlight of my day. Rhianna is the most incredible human. All the staff are. Tip: When you struggle to decide which of the 10 amazing things you want to eat, ask about the trio lunch option - best lunch ever.

Worst breakfast of my life. Had the avocado toast, stale bread, unripe avocado, and for 3$ more you get less than a ounce of the nastiest ‘smoked salmon’ anyone has ever had. It was dry and not deboned. Terrible.

One of my favorite places in town, they have such good food and I love all the different tasty salads and deli items they come up with! The vegan kale salad and chicken salad are my go-to. Also they have amazing baked goods, the lemon bars and carrot cake are so yummy 😁

Originally being from Saugatuck, now living in Colorado. This is a MUST stop for all things. Especially their Kale Cesar Salad. Holy cow. Best thing you’ll ever eat. They have Carrot Cake too. This is also a must, probably should share it but sometimes it just disappears on your plate. Regardless. You’ll be happy when you leave. 15-20 min wait time on most things.

Amazing food, the best deli I have ever experienced! Staff is super friendly-free bday carrot cake too! I was only visiting for a few days and visited twice. I would drive the 3 1/2 hours just to eat there!
