A little coffee shop and craft beer bar in Dobbs Ferry, New York. Specialty Coffee, Craft Beer on premises and to-go, Pastries, Small Bites.
Let me start by saying—I’m 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘨𝘪𝘳𝘭 𝘸𝘩𝘰’𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦.
Now, let me tell you why.
It’s a long one. So grab a drink and some snacks.
1. The Coffee – It’s always fresh and consistent. Starbies? You could 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳
2. The Beer – At night, this place metamorphosizes into a bar. The selection is great. The tap list is a very well-curated mix of craft beers, always delivering something fresh and unique. I don’t know much about beer, but I do know about getting tipsy. Would 100% recommend. If you’re nice(-ish) enough, they might even let you write on one of the boards for the tap beers. In addition to the 12 beers on tap, they have a fully stocked fridge with all kinds of beers—whether you want to enjoy one there or take a few to go. No matter what you like, there’s something for everyone.
3. The People- JB and Chris, the owners, are absolutely wonderful. You can always pick their brains about all things beer, coffee, food, and most things life. Bartenders and baristas Kaitlyn, Justin, Angel, and Tabitha are as lovely. They’re friendly, fun, and make this place feel so warm and welcoming.
4. Dogs – This is a pet-friendly place. There’s always at least a dog wagging their tail, wanting to be petted. If you need some oxytocin but are too lazy to go for a run or too irresponsible to get a pet for yourself (like me), this is another reason to visit this place.
5. The Vibe – Whether you’re human, alien, vampire, or a zombie, you’re welcome here. No judgment—unless you’re an a-hole. Then kindly stay outside.
6. The Most Useless Trivia by Polish John – Every Thursday at 8, Polish John hosts the most hilarious trivia night ever. Aptly titled The Most Useless Trivia, it’s packed with random facts that will help you absolutely nowhere in life, but boy, is it fun. If you’re in the area and love not-so-serious trivia, you have to give it a shot. I promise, you won’t be disappointed.
7. Local Art – They feature a rotating exhibit of local artists, which is always a great addition to the space. It’s a wonderful way to support the artists.
8. Bring Your Own Food – While the place doesn’t have a kitchen, you’re totally welcome to bring in your own food or grab something from any of the nearby spots. This is their modest way of not just making the place more welcoming but also supporting other businesses in the area. There’s no way in hell you could resist going and buying something for yourself once a patron opens their box of tacos from Los Ferchos.
9. The Community – If you live in the neighborhood, this is a place you must visit. It pulls you in like a black hole, helping you find your tribe—no matter how lost you feel in the abyss of life. (Sorry for the metaphor, I’m a little tipsy thanks to Hardywood’s Christmas Morning beer here at Climbing Wolf. It’s amazing!). I moved to the neighborhood nearly six months ago and started coming here to work while I took my time setting up my place. This spot became my little bubble of stability while everything else in my life was changing. Sorry for the sap. If you’re on the lookout for your people, chances are you’ll find them here.
Having said that, my bank account isn’t exactly happy or proud of my spendings here at Climbing Wolf, but my heart is definitely very warm and fuzzy.
So, if you want great coffee, incredible beer, and a place to just be, Climbing Wolf is where you need to go.
P.S. This is not a paid review.

Located near the Hudson River, this cafe is not difficult to find a place to park your car. I took my ice latte to the park where the station is located and enjoyed it. The staff was very friendly, the restrooms were clean and the restaurant looked cozy. The coffee tasted fruity and was the perfect latte for a hot day.
I recommend it if you come to this area.

We come here all the time for coffee, which is always great, and picked up boxed coffee for our 1 year old's birthday party. The venue had locked us out of the venue, and the staff at the Climbing Wolf were able to help us get in contact with someone who let us in. They truly saved the day, and were so helpful and concerned! Plus SO many people at the party complimented the coffee, which I've never heard about boxed coffee before. :) Thank you Climbing Wolf, you're the best!!!!

The music playing in the background was A+ and the cappuccino and herbal tea was delicious. All we had was a cake pop but that was yummy too! Will def have to come back out for one of their events and try the beer!
WiFi was fast and prices were reasonable. Overall a great experience and super recommend it! ❤️

Best coffee place in Dobbs Ferry downtown. Coffee is great, barista is super nice, wifi is provided. Their muffins are also amazing. I only wish they served sandwiches at lunch, but that will only make this already popular place more crowded. Last but not least this place is also a popular gathering place for Dobbs Ferry dogs xD

The name says it all! It's the perfect spot to relax grab a great coffee or nice tap beer. Very chill atmosphere- all are welcomed!
I wish they would do a mini decor refresh. Everything behind the counters is messy and unorganized. A nice coat of black paint and softer lighting would make this place perfect!

Love going to Climbing Wolf. Great coffee and great beer. Wide selection on tap and they have a fridge that has even more variety if you want some take home cans. Fantastic atmosphere, staff is friendly and you can tell Chris and J.B. want everyone to have a fun time and get a good drink.
As far as the location, it's close to a bunch of good restaurants in Dobbs and a close walk to the train station.
As far as parking I like parking along the main road by Broadway. Free and a short walk to the shop.
LGBTQ friendly.

The guys at Climbing Wolf surely know what they are doing whether it’s for a cup of coffee or a cold beer in the afternoon. Since they've opened I've made stopping in there part of my morning dog walk (he gets treats there) and the guys always nail the coffee to get me going. They even showcased some of my artwork and always made me feel like family since they opened their doors.

Among countless great coffee shops, this place is a standout. I drink buckets of coffee while working remotely in cafes all over Brooklyn and the river towns, but Climbing Wolf's Kyoto-style cold brew (bourbon barrel-aged) and pour-over coffee (anaerobic and co-ferments) are the best coffee I've ever had. It's also the perfect work spot with comfy seating and free Wi-Fi. All of that would be enough to love this place, but they go way beyond. The friendly owners and baristas create a welcoming community vibe, reflected in the diverse regulars who frequent here. They serve craft beer and cider (including their own collaborations) all day and late into the night, host artisanal food pop-ups on weekends, showcase local art, are dog-friendly, have board games for the family, and allow outside food. Owners JB and Chris have made something remarkable here.

A couple of years ago I relocated from Chicago and have been looking for a place like Climbing Wolf. It not only has a great selection of beers from all over the country and coffee drinks, it’s also a welcoming and cozy space. Coming from the midwest, I've missed an atmosphere where I can meet interesting people, like owners JB and Chris, or just sit and enjoy whatever beverage they suggest. These two are the nicest of guys that go the extra mile to create a welcoming ambiance with some of the best selections of beers and coffee drinks in Westchester county. They're also known to support their community in lots of different ways and is another reason to visit. I love this place and I'm sure you will too. Cheers!

Climbing Wolf is a cafe that I compare all else to, their specialty coffee, atmosphere, friendliness and customer experience is above and beyond. The coffee blows me away each time and it is a wonderful place to be. As a local artist who has hosted several pop-up shops, I can say that the owner is overwhelmingly kind and has been generous in our collaborations. The baristas are also personable, knowledgable about specialty coffee and very willing to share advice for home the coffee enthusiast. Their coffee selection from the bar is always delicious. This is a must for anyone in Westchester looking for a perfect cafe.

Top notch coffee and craft beer, what more could one want. The staff is always so friendly and knowledgeable. This time I had 2 rare IPA’s that I can’t find anywhere else, and finished on the house lager. I also picked up some mighty oak coffee, it’s wood roasted and gives a unique experience, I would suggest trying it. They get coffee from different roasters all the time, so the selection is always fresh. 5 stars.

This is a great little shop, very popular for both coffee and beer. The baristas are very professional and perform great latte art. I've never had the beers here, but maybe I'll change that this friday

Maybe a great place for beer, but sad to say this was the worst coffee I’ve ever had. The first cappuccino tasted sour…I thought the milk was bad, and the second cup of a different brew wasn’t much better. When I asked the guy who made it to check the milk, he said it looked fine and then actually took my cup and drank out of it, and said it was great! That was strange in itself, but I was surprised that he’d think it was great! I really thought I had gotten sour milk! I’ve driven by Climbing Wolf many times and always wanted to check it out, so I was excited to try it and when I saw the place was packed I thought I’d be wow’d!!! What a huge disappointment. The shop itself is really big inside but setup in such a way so there is always someone underfoot…not a relaxed place where you can sit and enjoy a cup of coffee. I travel the world and have had some of the best brews anywhere, and Climbing Wolf was truly disappointing. If you’re looking for a great cup of coffee, I think they’re alot of better options locally, including the gas station.

Came here after hearing about it from patrons at the now-defunct Beernoggin (RIP). I was looking for a simple place to grab some nice beer and chat with cool people, which can be hard to find sometimes in Westchester. I'm generally a fan of grabbing a pint or two and gabbing a bit. Found exactly what I was looking for. Everyone working here is super friendly. Regulars there said that they rotate the beer/tap selection every two weeks. All the beers I tried were solid. Real community oriented spot. Will be coming back soon!

One may not think that a cafe with various coffees, cappuccinos etc. would not work with a beer bar... somehow it does.
We went only for coffee during the evening and it was a good experience. Coffee was good, oat scone (or whatever it was) was very good and service was very good.
Just a note of caution... if you're going in for a quiet coffee for conversation, this may not be the place if the bar is busy, which I assume would be later in the evening. Otherwise it's at least worth a try.

I love visiting Climbing Wolf every time we're in Dobbs Ferry! Every drink is either created or curated by people who care about every aspect of what you're sipping on. During my first visit, I saw the extensive beer selection and asked if they had anything non-alcoholic. I was quickly introduced to an incredible sour by Untitled Art, which is one of my favorite drinks of all-time now, and something I surely would not have discovered on my own. When I tried one of their lattes, I could tell it was richer and more flavorful than most I've tried. I discovered that not only are the coffee beans meticulously sourced, but the oat milk they use is brought in from England to reduce the amount of filler product you have in your drink. Amazing stuff! Plus, everyone who works there is friendly as hell - they've got a solid community in a spot where you could easily spend your whole day.

I come to Climbing Wolf often for their amazing coffee, teas and snacks and it's my favorite coffee spot in the area. I recently chose to host a Halloween private event at Climbing Wolf and it was amazing. The rates were reasonable, JB and the rest of the staff are amazing to work with and so very kind. The local beers were amazing, they even asked if I had any special requests for drinks to be brought in and helped me decorate. 10/10 would recommend hosting a private event here!

Great beer and cider selection in a cozy coffee shop-meets-cafe vibe spot. Bright windows and some cozy couch spots in the front. Only complaint is the whole place needed one good round of cleaning (eg crumbs everywhere, tables needed bussing, bathroom dusty with hair on toilet, etc.)

I’ve traveled extensively across the US and abroad… Climbing Wolf is the place you go to for a welcoming atmosphere and thoughtful drink.
From my perspective, the staff strike the perfect balance between a daytime craft coffee house and a noon/nighttime craft bar.
I’d strongly recommend this stop to the traveler passing trough for a morning coffee or afternoon beer. It’s a must if you’re in the area regularly.

Really nice, laid back coffee shop and bar. They’re dog friendly! It seems like they have random pop ups and guests such as artists and BBQ. There’s always people seated and enjoying themselves every time I went. The staff is quite friendly. It’s a nice location - walking distance to the train.

Such a great addition to the Rivertowns! The staff is incredibly friendly. The coffee is delicious and when you're done with your latte, head on over to their Beer Bar and pick one (or two) from their amazing selection.

Climbing Wolf has been a staple of mine since they opened. Their staff is wonderful, friendly, well trained and courteous.
They make great lattes and their cold brew tastes like chocolate milk. I’ve also purchased their whole bean coffees for home brew and love the selection they have.
At night they become a bar, although I’m always surprised by how many people enjoy a day beer. They have a nice selection of craft beers to go and I have enjoyed the cans that I get to go.
Highly recommend this place!

I've been to Climbing Wolf a few times since it opened. It's a solid business. They make tasty coffee drinks-I'm a fan of the cappuccino, and I like their croissants. They also serve some good beers. They have fresh taps and an interesting selection that rotates frequently. They have a beer fridge too. One draw back is not much of a menu. I had a bag of potato chips. Maybe one day they'll have some apps and a few sandwiches to nosh on. Nice location in Dobbs and steps from the OCA if you're up for a walk.

We stopped for coffee but they have great selection of beer too and loved how passionate the staff were with coffee and beer. Great atmosphere and such a wonderful place to just have a nice coffee or beer with a friend.

Low key space with excellent coffee (plenty of styles to select from) and pastries. The open space layout makes it easy to enjoy coffee and a scone with plenty of space around you.

A great spot that reminded me of some of my favorite neighborhood coffee house/taprooms back home in the PNW. Great potential in this place as it has awesome coffee, quality beers, and helpful service. If I lived in the area, I would absolutely return again.

Whether you are in the mood for specialty coffee, craft beer, or just want some homies to hangout with, Climbing Wolf excels in all three areas.
It’s the Dobbs Ferry equivalent of “Cheers,” when you walk in, everyone knows your name and everyone is buddies.
Climbing Wolf has been a welcome addition to the River Towns and has gelled smoothly with the Dobbs vibe since opening over a year ago.
Next time you’re in town, be sure to stop in for a couple drinks and chat up the friendly staff or the folks around you!

The bartender attempted to steal my credit card and had a major embarrassing meltdown when I called him out for it. Deserves 0 stars, what a joke.

Comfortable corner beer and coffee place with an excellent selection of beer and knowledgeable staff that's passionate about craft brews. If you can't find a beer you like in their rotating draft menu, you'll definitely find something in the fridge that's stocked with a great variety of craft beers. No mass-market brews here! Only the good stuff
