Welcome to Dim Sum Bloom Indulge in an Authentic and Traditional Chinese Food
If you’re looking for authentic Chinese Cuisine Dim Sum Bloom is really a great restaurant to dine at. Here I experienced Authentic Hand Made Dim Sum and Delicious Appetizers and Entrees. For my Appetizer the ribs were cooked to perfection and the meat was just the right amount of tender. I enjoyed all of the dim sum options that I ordered. My favorite was the Hong Kong Style Shrimp Dumplings. I also loved the Sichuan Sicy Wonton In Red Oil . I had the General Tso Chicken for my entree and it was delicious. I also really enjoyed the Lucy Lui cocktail , it was sweet and refreshing. The atmosphere of the restaurant is also very beautiful , and the service was great I would highly recommend Dim Sum Bloom it is perfect for any dining occasion.
Here’s Everything I had :
An order of ribs (Highly Recommended)
Sichuan Sicy Wonton In Red Oil
( My Favorite)
Hong Kong Style Shrimp Dumplings
Chicken Shumai
General Tao Chicken
Moo Shu Chicken
Drink :
Lucy Liu
Lychee Martini
Everything Was Delicious and Prepared perfectly.

Clean. Good service. Solid Chinese and American Chinese food. Excellent specials and HH. What’s not to love ?
Their restaurant week special is the move. Excellent value to portion ratio. Great pour on the glasses of wine too, Karen.
Solid mid week option, if you live in the neighborhood.

True gem in the neighborhood! Everything is delicious from soup dumplings to entree.
Liked the restaurant week menu so much that I returned in two weeks or so. My favorites so far are crispy tofu and stir-fried fish in garlic sauce. Dan dan noodles are great, but unless you are really good at spicy food I recommend you ask for less spicy version. And the service is so great! Everyone is kind and attentive. Highly recommend!

This place is pricier than a lot of neighborhood Chinese, but well worth it, particularly the lunch special.
I know there was a lot of perfume when Dim Sum Bloom opened - all Shun Lee this and Shun Lee that. Notwithstanding, the food is excellent and they have some dishes that are pretty hard to find on the UWS, including Three Cup Chicken. The lunch special bento box is a ridiculous value for $17.95 (see pic). The location, which has housed a Chinese restaurant at least since I was a kind in the early 80s, is large and relatively elegant. I like that they retain some old school touches as well, like super horseradishy neon mustard and crispy noodles for soup.
It’s well worth a stop through.

If you are up to Chinese food, this would be a good spot in UWS. Ambiance is perfect for either groups or even dining out alone. You’ll love how the vibe gives you, very relaxed and welcoming. Their mini dimsum is a must try in the menu. Also we did order spring rolls, you couldn’t go wrong anytime with spring rolls, also stir fried eggplant to pair with either plain rice or fried rice would be the best. I’d give 4/5 because it’s UWS location, prices are higher than usual. But food and ambiance 5/5. A spot to try if you are craving for dimsum, this would definitely help.

Had dinner at Bloom w/my 8 yr old recently. Earlier in the evening so we were seated promptly. Table by the window made for great people watching. Menu offered a nice variety, but we went w/a Dim Sum experience. Great flavors & presentation. Spare ribs arrived w/a honey mustard sauce on the side… although skeptical at first, it actually made for a delicious pairing. Entrees felt a little pricey but in line with neighborhood. All in all, a really nice experience… would certainly add it to the rotation.

怀疑点到了预制菜,挂汁厚却不入味,端上来的梅菜扣肉只是温的,没有梅菜味,而梅菜是碎掉不成型的。夫妻肺片挂汁太厚。脆皮鸭倒是不错。

Subpar food, literally can get double the quality for half the price in manhattan chinatown. Service was mediocre, I noticed they were a bit understaffed. But the real insult is the pricing on the food, absolute spit in the face to the consumer. Barely any meat in their meat dishes and for dumplings each one cost almost 2 dollars after tax….. it has two mini shrimp inside and that’s it. Hope this place go out of business

Felt violated by the food portion size and quality…. And the audacity to tax on tips for only appearing at the table twice

Asked about lunch special and was told there isn't one so I ordered a plate of pan fried beef dumplings. I asked about the black pepper beef noodles and was told that the noodle is rice vermicelli. I asked if broad rice noodles could be substituted. The waiter said yes, I think so.
Dumplings were pretty good. Dumpling skin was not too thick or too thin. Beef stuffing was also very nice correctly cooked and crispy on the bottom. I would have happily given this dish a 5* rating except for the fact that the oil used had a very strong off flavor which ruined the dish. Now to the main dish, black pepper beef. I searched for the beef, which while present was illusive at best. The overriding flavor of this dish was so sweet that I thought I was eating dessert. Finally the check and to my surprise there was a $3 upcharge for the noodle substitution. If there is an upcharge the diner should be told about it prior to putting in the order. I surely would have chosen a different dish had I been informed beforehand. Train your wait staff. Final note as I left I noticed a sign offering 2 dimsums and a small soup for $10.95 which would have fit the bill perfectly. Get your act together, guys.

Fake or not a fake 'Shun Lee'? Well, it was fun to read the NYT article. Id say its not 'genuine' but serves pretty good food anyway. Unfortunately they seem to slap on a shun lee premium so prices are expensive. Rather see they did their own thing, tried to become the go-to for nice chinese in the hood, and accommodate the price levels. I'd be a fan.
UPDATE MAR 2024: Well, guess what, a new name and revised prices. Well done management, you got me back!

Nice interior design with lots of space. Dim sum was… very disappointing. Small portions for double the price of more traditional dim sum places. Very limited selection of dishes (mainly dumplings). Dumpling skin broke very easily, which is especially disappointing with soup dumplings. This is a decent Americanized Chinese restaurant. Calling it “Dim Sum” just feels misleading.

Went for lunar new year. It’s a pretty nice place with good service. We were given chinese new year themed keychains. They had a restaurant week menu that offered 2 appetizers and 2 entrees for $52 for 2 people. We got 2 restaurant week orders and family styled it. The portions were large and it was way more than enough food for 2 people. My favorite dish was the Grand Marnier prawns. They were huge shrimp battered and fried over lettuce, tomato, and walnuts topped with pineapple and a sweet white sauce. Sweet, rich, and delicious dish. The stir fried beef noodles which were savory and good. The noodles were soft and wide like the consistency of Thai noodles, and the dish was sufficiently beefy. The beef could’ve been juicier and tastier though. The king pao chicken was fine. The mouth watering chicken was good but spicy. That was over cucumber and topped with a sauce, peanuts, and scallions. We got 8 soup dumplings and they were tasty, the right warmth, and better than din tai fung. There was so much food that we took 2 entrees worth of food home. Very solid Chinese food overall, but it depends on the dish.

I was very happy with this place for a long time until Jordan started to represent himself as the point of contact. He was courteous initially but sent me upstairs photos with nice table setup first. So I confirmed a party of 7-10 people. Then 5 days later, he told me the upstairs is no longer available and is full of merchandises instead. It was just a week of time in passing and his representations had already changed drastically. It is a frustrating and disheartening experience. That is what happens when you have a manager who does not care as much or misrepresents himself.

Great lunch deals Monday - Friday on Dim Sum which I highly recommend. Food is excellent. Our Asian waitress was very knowledgeable but a younger (non Asian) waiter then messed up the entree I had ordered. I was flexible and what was served was also very good. Asian waitress apologised and offered to replace the entree but I said it was ok as I did not want to wait unnecessarily. So I got a voucher for a free Dim Sum on another visit. Reasonable prices and space between tables.

We visited friends who live in upper west side and decided to give Dim Sum Bloom a try.
We shared a couple of dim sum dishes as appetizers. Our favorites were the Pork Bun which was flavorful and the juicy fried squid with salt & pepper.
We enjoyed both entrees we got: Deep Fried Spare Ribs with Garlic and Steamed Rice with Pork & Taro. The ribs was soft & juicy and the rice was satisfying.

I had cold sesame noodles and fried shrimp dumplings. The noodles were mediocre - under salted. The sauce served on the side, which was strange and I've never seen it before - doesn't mean it's a bad idea but in my opinion it is because of the unnecessary extra effort to toss them evenly. When I asked the hapless staff for soy sauce to add a little salinity, I got a couple of blank stares and finally a tiny little dish of soy - weird. The dumplings were awful - listed on the menu as Hong Kong style shrimp dumplings, they were deep fried, devoid of any shrimp flavor or discernable flesh, and weirdly sweet. I've been to Hong Kong several times and eaten in dozens of Hong Kong style restaurants all over the place, and I've never had anything like it. Really bad.
The service was mediocre - they didn't know anything about the dishes, and were slow. NYC restaurants have really dropped in quality - probably pandemic and labor related. Shame - I hope they come back.

Dim Sum Bloom is really hard to miss due to the scaffolding right outside. Those tiny pan fried dumplings are bite sized deliciousness popping with juice. Make sure to eat it in one shot. When we see Peking Duck, it’s always a must order. Finally a place that is generous with cucumber, scallions, and hoisin sauce. Bunch them up onto the delicate pancakes and bite into a taste of China! Finish the night off with fusion desserts

Food was decent. We had two different dumplings and a beef dish and a pork dish both flavorful. The only down side was part of the service. Getting the check took about 15 min, then they had issues with the card machine and would accept our mastercard. The card was fine they must have an issue with their system. As I did see the waiter running back and forth with another tables check which took quite a long time to get settled. They need to update their payment system.

I had to convince my parents to try Shun Lee in lieu of driving down to Chinatown for dinner - they are not an easy sell on alternative Chinese restaurants, wanting to take a look first, study the menu, and then FINALLY give it a chance.
And so, it's no small compliment that they were so happy with everything from the tea, to the food, to the dessert, to the service overall.
Thank you for an authentic Chinese meal, exceptionally prepared and served, and a wonderful atmosphere for our family meal.

It is hard to believe that a restaurant like Shun Lee would have bad food, but my experience was terrible and so disappointing. After going to Shun Lee West for so many years, I’m shocked that the food was so bad at Shun Lee 98. Not only that, but the order was incomplete and it took 40 minutes longer than the app said it would for a pick up order. I was excited Shun Lee was coming uptown — thanks, but no thanks, I’ll continue to travel for an excellent meal rather than settle for this.
