We come in for lunch all the time and the food is so fresh and flavorful. Thank you to all the ladies who work here and you can’t forget the cooks!! The chicken they cook on the grill is amazing! Take a stop in and grab some lunch here you won’t be disappointed. Update 10/30 they were shut down for some reason and reopened with all new staff and I wanted to do in an get my usual but it’s just not the same the food is tasteless, decided to eat in and my meat was ice cool but it was sitting on the hot bar we had to ask them to reheat it. I’m just not a fan anymore.

Best Dominican food!! My favorite is chicharron de pollo (not breaded fried chicken with bone). Grilled chicken, fried shrimp or shrimp with garlic sauce, fried fish, mofongo, tostones… everything is good!!!

My friend and I went here for a weekend lunch. It looked so unassuming from outside but inside was lively. We got the mofongo de queso and the shrimp special and loved every minute of it! Very nice waitress too

Ordered a skirt steak and it tasted like wet clothes. No flavor and tbh it looked like it was angus steak instead. Took one bite and left the rest. Side of yellow plantains were drenched in oil. Only good thing about my meal was my lemonade.

The food is delicious I recommend the salmon and tostones. The language barrier was sore of an issue but we made it worked with the translate apps. The folks are just cool about it and I still enjoy my meal. At least it's not Florida when the folks are nasty towards to you when you are not speaking Spanish and don't feed you well. If you know history that is an issue between England and Spain. Anyway good food, pretty waitresses, and great service. However, the name "La Nueva Espana" "The New Spain" is nothing to be proud of when Spain had colonized the most of the territories that is part of Latin America today.

Food doesn't have flavor,service no good. It used to be a nice place to get good food and staff friendly. What at disappointment after enjoying that restaurant for many years. Everything changed.

Aqui siempre entregan el pollo medio crudo. Ni ofrezen una solucion o credito para el futuro por la inconviniencia y peligro de encontrar pollo crudo a la mitad de uno comer.

This restaurant is constantly under cooking chicken and it’s a serious problem when it’s for pick up or delivery because they expect you to go back to return it. They dont offer any solutions to make it right, or credit for the future. Plus, no accountability for food poisoning. I’ve given them a few chances over time. Not anymore.

Our family came by with over a week anticipation to order a Lechón for Christmas dinner. Sadly, we were disappointed with their organization and our dinner. While they were given explicit instructions to provide us with entire Lechón when we made the order, we found it chopped up. This seems to be part of their pricing scheme. They estimated the Lechón to weigh 26.5 lbs when we put down a deposit and somehow this is exactly what they charged us at pickup. From the quality of the food, they seemed to have added regular pernil meat to our tray of Lechón to ensure 26.5 lbs exactly. A scheme as it is not fair to be charged $16/lbs for pernil meat.

Went there today and bought a chicken and honestly couldn’t even eat it I ended up throwing it out. It tasted like it was from yesterday and it was very dry and hard. I’ve never had an issue with their food but this was simply disgusting.

I have been at this place before the pandemic and the food was delicious.. but maybe the original chef is gone.. the food was no great. The Mondongo was to high in venigar.. not great at all

Terrible. #1 The food is not good. #2 t is not welcoming and the place is few. #3theres no plates/straws/ford or knives when you sat down. Waiter actually brought us the food and BEFORE plates forks knives ect. #4 service is not great and they don’t even have a bathroom with a table to change babies. Lastly and if that wasn’t enough The place has witchcraft as well. When you walk in immediately there’s evil eye amulets and other pagan things. Honestly it shows through their food. Overpriced would not recommend

La peor comida de uptown. Compre chicharrón de pollo para mi hija de 4 años y sabía a pollo dañado viejo. Volví otro día para darle otra oportunidad y cuando pedí concon con habichuelas la señora que trabaja en el frente (que por cierto es muy mal educada) estaba cogiendo el concon CON LAS MANOS!!! Ósea higiene ninguna!! La ciudad debería revisar este lugar porque si hacen eso en frente de los clientes no me imagino que pueden hacer detrás donde no se ve. Demás está decir que el pollo a la parrilla no tiene ningún sabor y hiede! 0 y mil veces 0! No le recomiendo a nadie esta mala experiencia.

I've been eating here for more than a dozen years. To date, I've not had one complain about food and I've ordered almost everything there. As a former bartender, I can tell you that the drinks are very well crafted. It wasn't like that before but it has improved greatly. The food is also super economical on top of that.

I recommend this place 100%

Love this neighborhood joint. I always stop by to get a whole chicken when I’m in the area. Very tasty and just enough to serve four for lunch. Perfect with the salad.

Very bad food. I ask for steak no season and not marinated in alcohol because I am pregnant and they charged me $20 and give me stake with season and marinated in alcohol. Thanks God I am not stupid and I save my life otherwise I will be very sick at this moment. I told them 4 times that I was pregnant. Also, the whole chicken is a disgusting food. First the size is very very small, like the shrink the chicken in the dry machine! Se find the taste is horrible, too spicy and greasy!i had to walk back there with the steak to show them because they never answer the phone!
La comida esta malísima. Pide un bistec sin salonero y que no sea marinado en alcohol, me cobraron $20 y me dieron bistec con seasones y alcohol. Si me la como estaría muy mal ahora. Le dije muy claro 4 veces que estaba embarazada.
Otra cosa, el pollo entero sabe muy mal demasiado picante e grasosos. También es muy pequeño parece que se estriñó en la secadora. Son unos estafadores. Tuve que irme en persona a llevarse el bistec atrás po k no contesta nadie al teléfono!

PORTIONS WAY TOO SMALL. I ordered chicharron de pollo a while back. The order came with rice and beans and maduros. For $30. There was so little food that we were left hungry. We even called to make sure they hadn't given the lunch special size but nope. Well, this evening we made the mistake of ordering again. Bistec encebollado, large beans, tostones (no rice! - the rice here is not good, the moro tasted burnt). The order ALSO came out to $30. And the portion of bistec is RIDICULOUS. They took up space with salad and onions. The bistec has no sauce and looks unappetizing. We called again and again they say that's the portion size. Never again will I order from here it is a rip off, the food is not good enough for these prices.

Went there a couple times. People working there were so rude and gave an attitude just because they don’t understand English!!! They gave wrong order. Guys you need to know that this is NEW YORK not DR so you should learn how to speak English.

This spot is a hit or miss, never reliable. Owner has an attitude and is very unpleasant to be around, they deny bathroom service to customers. Charge extra when using credit cards, employees are treated poorly.

This is my favoritr restaurant. I live over an hour away but i would drive to NY just to go eat at this place. The food is delicious (of course is dominican food🤤😋). I can't wait to go back.

Very nice dominjcan eatery in inwood. Very good food. What we see here is the secret menu. This restaursnt owned by local (mom/pop) is a very popular spot in the area for its veriety of good eats as well as very good service. From inhouse eating to take out to catering you cant go wrong with this spot. Enjoy it.

La Nueva Espana doesn't feel like a restaurant to me because I can't remember a time when I didn't eat here. The food is always excellent. The staff is warm and friendly and I can always count on them for a great meal when I don't want to cook.
