Family-owned restaurant offering Moroccan & Middle-Eastern food, specialty cocktails & wine since 1983.
This is a nice restaurant for a delicious brunch. It was my first time at a Moroccan restaurant, and I had a great experience with really tasty dishes. We ordered the Moroccan Benedict and Malawach, and both were delicious. The Malawach was something I don’t usually have for breakfast, but if you like spicy food, I’d recommend trying it with the Moroccan sausage on the side. The service was great, and the atmosphere was very pleasant.

Always busy here it seems but well worth getting a table inside or outside if you wish.
Some wonderfully tasty options, with good size portions. So busy though that my table of four guests all felt guilty to sit there afterwards to enjoy the moment, as the queue was building up outside!
Veggie and gluten free options, always good to discover!

we were in the mood for Moroccan food and online reviews said this place was good so we made a reservation to check it out.
overall the place is good with good service, decent portion and decent flavors. we started off with the greek salad and the hummus and then got the halloumi skewer and chicken tangine. the hummus was served with pita but it was actually frozen naan and they were not good. the hummus was decent
the couscous plate was a decent portion and had good veggies - the chicken was a bit bland and could’ve used some more flavor. the halloumi was decent but it was definitely not a veggie skewer that accompanied
overall - decent food and good portion size but flavor is a bit lacking

Had the Morrocan Eggs with Spicy Mergeuz as well as Morrocan Mint Tea for a late breakfast. While I wished they served a little more bread it was quite tasty.
The interior of the restaurant made me think of the movie "Casablanca " and as I went to the restroom to conclude my business a poster of the movie was right there. Apparently they were thinking what I was thinking.

A small cozy place. As often happens in New York, it's old and shabby, with scratches on the mirrors and its own smell, decorated in a mismatched way—just the way it turned out. The staff is very young and friendly. At one point, the waiter suggested clearing all the plates, even though we had just barely touched our food. The pita bread with hummus could have been served hot; that would have made it tastier. Instead, it was cold and already stuck together. The hummus seemed a bit watery, lacking in flavor. The Greek salad was ordinary—neither particularly good nor bad. The baba ganoush was decent, but it lacked the characteristic smokiness of the dish. The Moroccan iced tea without sugar was okay. The bill wasn’t too high. I probably won’t recommend it to my friends, and for next time, I’ll choose something else.

The service was extremely attentive and nice. The environment is a bit loud and maybe tight but it is winter so the outside tables were too cold. It is like a friendly neighborhood cafe.
I was personally disappointed by the food. Just a personal preference I guess. The eggplant dish was excellent but the rest was not so much. Also the mint tea was so comforting and flavorful

Love going here for brunch. Staff is always so attentive and friendly. Whenever I come here, I usually order the Middle Eastern breakfast. It is light and delicious. We also ordered the eggplant and tahini. It’s so tasty. Been to both locations (in Williamsburg and East Village) and neither ever disappoints. One of my favorite spots to take family and friends who are looking for something good to eat.

Go for: Superb North African and Middle Eastern food at all the meal times.
Avoid if: You have a hard time being in packed, extremely busy establishments.
Something surprising: In the summertime, the seating spills over into the street.
Reservation needed? Not usually, but expect a wait at peak meal times.
Overall Experience: 4/5. This place is one of those establishments that makes you appreciate New York City. Where else can you walk down the street and get fantastic Moroccan food for lunch at reasonable prices and with fast service?

I enjoyed the dishes (lamb shank tagine, eggplant tahini, taboulé) but I felt the portions were on the small side. The primary reason for the 'okay' review is the service which was inattentive and felt rushed when available.

Delicious food! We got the malawach(?) and i was in love with the flatbread and yogurt. also loved the halloumi eggs and sabich plate! The staff was very nice! You get a cute postcard with your bill. The bathroom situation is a bit odd but not terrible as it's two gender neutral water closets in a narrow area around a corner. fyi bathroom is not wheelchair accessible which is unfortunately common in nyc. restaurant itself had outdoor seating, which is wheelchair accessible.

This is a classic East Village restaurant. It’s been in business since the 80s. Unfortunately the prices have gone way up, but that’s to be expected considering how gentrified the East Village has become since that time. Still, for those of us who love to come and get the small plates of Moroccan delicacies, such as pickled carrots, hummus, olives, Baba ghanouj and so on, with fresh pita, this is a welcome treat. Oh and do not miss the mint tea!

Put this quaint little restaurant on your to visit list! The ambiance is perfect from the lighting to the music and decor and of course my main thing is cleanliness and warm friendly staff from the moment you walk in and greeted by beautiful people. The chicken Casablanca Tagine is a delightful mix of sweet and tanginess with falling off the bone chicken. I finished it off with Turkish coffee (I am indeed a coffee snob) and fresh baklava!!

The food is always excellent. The vibes are great. The prices are a bit high but normal by NY standards. Wish they delivered uptown.

We went to Mogador at this location -101 St Marks Pl twice during out stay in New York – Highly recommended if you are craving for Mediterranean food.
Recommend the Hummus and the Falafel in appetizer and in the main dish recommend the Chicken Kabob and the Kefta Kabob. It comes with the Pita which was soft and fresh
The Kefta Kabob had a lot of flavors and the rice that comes with it was very flavorful
Also recommend the Chocolate Mouse in dessert. One recommendation -Book ahead of time as we had to wait for at least 30 mts for getting seated.
There is option for seating outside which was nice
I did saw an issue with the size of the table for two persons. Since me and my daughter went the second day – The table was not enough to place two plates and the appetizer as they were delivered back-to-back

Will definitely recommend to friends AND return on next trip to NYC!

And the lamb shank was good ofc just wished it would be spicier. The salmon salad was surprisingly good too. There seemed to be some subtle elevation in the most common food and I’m here for it! But had to say the place is a bit heated and the service was friendly but slow

Café Mogador is a crowd fav in the city for Moroccan food and offers exquisite traditional dishes and comfort food. The tagines are not to be missed, in particular the lamb and fish tagines are so savory and tender. Highly recommend getting a couple if you have a group, each is great for sharing between 2-3 people. The jalapeño cheese naan oozes with cheese and is great for spreads. Humus and babaghanoush are super fresh, also loved the halloumi starter, like fried cheese served with grilled tomatoes and pita. My friends and I also loved the bastilla, which was a pastry with savory chicken inside. Their brunch menu looked really great for daytime. Definitely make a reservation beforehand and bring people with you to order lots of options!

Came here recently for the first time in 15 years. The place looks much the same, but seems to have gotten a slight cosmetic facelift - perhaps paint and some decor.
The food was solid. I got the Morrocan Breakfast with scrambled egg and really enjoyed the blend of flavors in the tabouleh and the cucumber salad. The eggs could have used a little more flavor, but overall the breakfast was a nice balanced meal.
The service was very kind, they made a point of not trying to rush us out even though we knew their busy time was coming up. Would return!
