First time giving this a try and the Food was fresh and hot. Haven’t had a good fish dinner like this in awhile. 3pc dinner not bad for the price either.

Its been a long time since I last ate from this establishment. I decided I wanted to give them another try. I ordered fried chicken and fries. It was stale and overly cooked. Very disappointed to have horrible tasting food. This seems to be a trend with this particular location. I probably wouldn't eat here ever again.

Southeast Louisiana native here, moved to Ohio in 2023. I've been craving cooking like this since I moved and nothing quite hit the spot. Sam Sylk's catfish changed everything. I found the seasoning perfect. The fry was light and incredibly crunchy, even after sitting in an Uber Eats car for 20min on the way over. My mac was creamy, cheesy, and felt like home-cooking. My only complaint? Fried okra needed a bit more salt, which I am more than capable of adding that on my own. Truly, it felt like I was welcomed into your home with this meal and I appreciate y'all so much. All the best to your family and your endeavors. Thank you and I will definitely be back. :-) <3

August 2021: It is becoming difficult to find good whole chicken wings that are lightly battered, fried crispy, and without feathers on them. I heard about Sam Sylk's for while and finally gave them a shot.

Pros:
* Freshly cooked chicken prepared to meet my expectations.
* Spacious lobby area with seating area for the patrons--only takeout during this time.
* Customers were respecting the mask mandate and the 6 foot social distancing criteria. No arguments inside and no beggars outside.
* They accept cash and credit cards.
* Good soul food that was seasoned well😋

Cons:
* The prices have risen due to the pandemic. Almost $2.35 per whole chicken wing is a bit steep. My understanding is that all restaurants have increased their prices and/or scaled back portions. No biggie...they have to stay competitive. The 5 wings (no sauce) and fries deal cost almost $10.
* It was really busy in there. I don't know if they allow call-ins for ordering. I prefer to do online, electronic ordering when the restaurant is proven to be good.

Very good fish and chicken!! The wait was a normal 25 minutes. Its nice they have tables inside for eating in. I appreciate the deserts and drinks they have.

I ordered 4 challengers with fries and a perch sandwich with fries. All the fish was over cooked, I think the store inventory of fries were low due to the minimum about provided, and the grease was old, with an odd scent. Very disappointing, smh.

I was there picking up an order for someone. The young man behind the counter was very rude to another customer. She was elderly. She was trying to explain how she wanted her fish prepared. He cut her off and told her "I've been cooking for 20 years. I know how to cook fish". He was soooo rude. He need to stay in the back and not talk to the public.

The fish was not fresh at all. Also terriblely over seaoned (pure salt, that's it) I can tell by the mushy texture that the fish comes in frozen, it's then thawed and fried. Lake Erie is literally around the corner, there are many fresh markets around, including a Costco on the same street a mile down the road. So what's the problem? There is no reason or exuse why the quality should be so poor. Will not be back. Do not recommend. The 3.2 stars on Google says enough and that's being generous.

To me the food was absolutely delicious. It was light and fresh. I got the sylk challenge sandwich, and whiting and shrimp. The customer service was excellent. I didn't get her name but she was friendly and kind. That was my first time and I will be back. Thank yall.

Chicken cool besides the extra feathers....... but I also ordered Catfish and they gave me Swai like I wouldn't be able to tell the difference...... the wasn't any slimy vein and thick texture that's associated with the Catfish..... I was very upset about that.... but it didn't taste bad yet and still if I wanted Swai I would order it which probably wouldn't cost a much......

Checked my order at the counter and my sauce was missing. Told the lady and she became defensive telling me to look again because it's in there. Another person see me standing there and asked what's wrong and I explained and slid my bag to her. She told the lady that my sauce was missing. That's not even the bad part. The food quality has definitely gone downhill especially for the price. $35 for a polish boy, shoestring fries, 3 wings, 2 pieces of perch and a small mac & cheese and a side of sauce. Ridiculous.

Everything here is pretty quick and good! Lots of different choices to choose from! I get chicken,fish and sides from here and it's always great! There is also nice little seating area to stay and have a meal.

This place has gone down and customer service needs work. Usually order through Grub hub but due to the last 4 to 5 orders being wrong, I decided to go get it myself. Ordered Perch paid for perch but when I checked my order, Catfish (which tastes nothing like Catfish) I poliitely told the person the order was wrong and he became defensive repeatedly saying he's by himself, he's human, he made a mistake which I tried to tell him I understood. But when I tried to explain that my orders are consistently wrong & really didn't have time to wait another 15 min, he talked over me, became dismissive by moving on to another customer. He never once apologized for the mistake or asked me what I wanted him to do, instead he said I shouldn't come back. I am sure this person is not what Sam wants representing his restaurant. He was unprofessional and incompetent. I will never order from there again. There are many other places that appreciate their customers.

I got the catfish platter the other day, and it definitely was not catfish. Looking at the reviews, it seems like this is a regular thing....stop playing before someone brings a class action lawsuit against you. If you don't sell it, simply take it off the menu.

I ordered on doordash. The food was good but the size of the perch and wings was half the size of the pictures I saw. I ordered the 3 perch and fries and the 3 wings and fries for later because I'm a trucker and needed something later. I killed the fish and was still hungry the fries needs work, they were basic at best.

We bought two 3 wing dinners. They were very disappointing. Those were the tiniest wings I have ever seen! The fries were salty with bbq sauce. Really??? All of that was laying on top of a slice of bread in one of those small styrofoam containers.

For me, that was not worth the trip. It was more like a snack than a dinner. I wonder where they get those wings from. They really need to change their supplier and the portion sizes.

**A suggestion ** if you put bbq sauce on your fries, salt is not needed.

I'm not sure if I will give them another try. If I do, I will update and post pictures.

Sam sylks,silks, fell all the way off this is the third time,they have let me down so bad I had to write a review, they allowed me to order my food on line at the sam silks on 222,when I arrive,would you believe they told me that they didn't have any food....I drove almost 8 miles to get turned around and told maybe Mayfield may have it but he has fully refunded me,never called me before I made it there just terrible service, afterthe first two times I said let me try Sam silks one more time,because when I actually do get food it's great,I don't know what it is but customer service,and day 2 day operations are slowly falling off and once the operation fails so does the food so sad of how supporting local restaurants turn you off,before you get a chance to enjoy a bite...

For $7 that German chocolate cake was NOT worth it!! It was dry and tasted old, the size of the slice was very small for that amount. Do not buy the dessert here. The menu says $6 but when we order it the lady said the price had changed. Update the menu prices because no one likes to be blindsided!! The wings are not flavorful and small. I wished I had order the catfish instead cuz my moms food was good but my chicken and waffles was a 4 out of 10.

The food is good. You have to pay extra for anything that does not come with the order. For example, the fish dinners sides are French fries and coleslaw if you want to switch sides from fries or coleslaw, you have to pay for that particular side order.

What happened? Your quality of food has hit bottom, Mac and cheese is box brand, peach cobbler is tremble now, and too much salt, if I wanted high blood pressure I would just open a box of Morton’s and pour it down my throat. I don’t know what happened to like mom used to make, my mom put her foot in her meals and none of us left any for the trash can. The change at this location has been going down, why cut cost for ingredients and charge higher prices. Give us our monies worth, get someone who knows how to cook and care about the taste and quality. Now I have to find a better Resturant that won’t disappoint my taste and stomach. Sorry Sam but you need check out your Resturant’s everyone is not wrong.

OMG...this was trash!!! I got a fish and shrimp combo with macaroni and cheese and greens. Everything was TRASH. The fish and shrimp smelled like fried chicken grease. The shrimp was overcooked. The whiting was soggy and fishy tasting which means it was old. Greens tasted like canned. Macaroni was ok. Never again!!!

Taste is roughly the same as any other chicken and fish. However, the wings are annoyingly tiny. They make the old pigmy BW3 wings look large. Buy at least "a wing" was all three pieces. The price was also high, but maybe I'm just used to Ohio prices. The default hot sauce was odd. I guess you have to pay extra to order one of the sauces listed on the board. And no default lemon pepper salt.

I purchased a 5 piece wing snack for $9.99 and the wings were so tiny…. they barely had any meat on the bones. When I called back to the restaurant to complain about the size, the gentleman said, “they don’t get to pick the size of the wings”…. As if I thought they did; that was disrespectful to me as a customer.
I understand that it is a chicken wing shortage going on…then don’t sell wings until you can get a decent size. No restaurant has the right to profit off those tiny… tiny and I mean tiny chicken wings.

BOYCOTT! Quality of food and customer service has significantly declined. Spent $30 on 10 wings and orange roughy sandwich. Wings were cold and dry, so I asked the cook to make me a fresh batch. Bread of the sandwich was old, hard and stale. Fish was overcooked.
Poor food quality + higher prices = BOYCOTT!
I will no longer spend my money for such below standard food quality.

Called in my order at 510 was told 20 minutes, and I was there at 530. I was looking forward to this meal, went straight home, didn’t stop to collect 200 dollars (40 and over) to find my food barely warm. Fries were terrible. I reheated the food in the microwave. The chicken was seasoned well, but my food wasn’t hot. I know they can cook, but am I expecting to much on a Thursday?🤦🏾

Good food... HORRIBLE service. I placed an order through UberEATS at 8:47 pm. Got a notification an hour later that my order was cancelled because they don't take orders after 9 pm, although my order was taken before the cutoff time. When I called the restaurant, they let the phone ring several times and then hung up on me before I could even speak.
I've ordered from them many times and even raved about their food to friends and social media. They won't get another dime from me EVER!

When you place an order and give your name it should be written down or recorded. So when you send someone else to pick it up it should be correct. Not only did they give my husband the wrong order when I called for them to correct it they got extremely rude and nasty. Very disappointed. I will not return and I have been going weekly if not more, but customer service is key and tonight the gentleman who answered was the worst representation of this company and the owner should really consider placing them in the back of the house.

Messed up my husband's order. I think employees should confirm orders by looking in bag and comparing to order slip before handing to customer. Heck, take a pen and mark each item off as you place it in bag if need be. No customer should have to come back inside to say, "you forgot anything..." The kicker was he paid for two orders and they only gave him one. The receipt clearly said and charged for two. Shrimp batter was too salty as well.

The food was a bit salty, which is subjective depending on taste. However, they forgot the desert we order. When I tried to call back repeatly no answer. Great staff. I got two polish boys and 3 wings and fries. Really good. Didn't expect the polish boys to be so big but they are. However, I did find a bread twistie in one of my polish boys. Would have been higher, but really disappointing to find this.

August 2021: It is becoming difficult to find good whole chicken wings that are lightly battered, fried crispy, and without feathers on them. I heard about Sam Sylk's for while and finally gave them a shot.

Pros:
* Freshly cooked chicken prepared to meet my expectations.
* Spacious lobby area with seating area for the patrons--only takeout during this time.
* Customers were respecting the mask mandate and the 6 foot social distancing criteria. No arguments inside and no beggars outside.
* They accept cash and credit cards.
* Good soul food that was seasoned well😋

Cons:
* The prices have risen due to the pandemic. Almost $2.35 per whole chicken wing is a bit steep. My understanding is that all restaurants have increased their prices and/or scaled back portions. No biggie...they have to stay competitive. The 5 wings (no sauce) and fries deal cost almost $10.
* It was really busy in there. I don't know if they allow call-ins for ordering. I prefer to do online, electronic ordering when the restaurant is proven to be good.

We have always loved Sylk’s! But this is the third time the food has been to salty! This time 2 shrimp dinners went into the trash. Beyond disappointed.

This is usually a favorite Friday night haunt. Wings with bbq sauce or a fish dinner, you can't go wrong.

Best food I have had from a fast food place frying fish in a long time. This fish is seasoned just right light and crispy. The chicken is the same way. Wish they would put one in painsville ohio or one closer to this area.

The folks at the counter were communicative even though it took a little bit longer on the order. They let me know what was up and I appreciate that. First time coming in and food was delicious, affordable and the service was great. Very satisfied 🙂
