Ace of Norman

Will never shop here again. Came in because I got a coupon mailed to my house that literally had my name on it for $10 off $20. Upon first walking in, an older lady with short brown hair and glasses told me I couldn't have my purse in the store because it looked like a backpack. When she asked to take it I assumed she would have a place for said bags if it was such a problem, but instead threwn it on the floor behind the register. I decided I would leave my bag in my car instead and came back into the store. At this point I realized I was definitely being profiled, as this same woman would follow me from aisle to aisle and pretend to act busy slightly adjusting items on the shelf, but obviously just watching me, and not offering to help or anything of the sort. I asked about something I had seen online, and she was very curt and unhelpful. Then when I go to pay for my items and use said coupon with a different older lady at the register, they both claimed that even though my coupon was sent to me, and has my name on it, because I don't have a previous rewards account I can't use it. I asked if I can make a rewards account now and use it, they said I still wouldn't be able to use it today. I read all the fine print on the coupon and it said nothing about being rewards exclusive, and I also called corporate to file a complaint who confirmed this is not the case. Neither woman in the store offered to comp the coupon to make it right, or offered to call a manager, or do anything other than tell me I'm out of luck for no reason. They had a problem with me from the moment I walked in, and I will never set foot in that store again

Great experience there today buying a new grill for our home here. Awesome African American gentlemen helped me and was super nice, knowledgable and professional. People like that are why people shop at ACE now over the huge conglomerates. Always go to ACE first.

Nice little place. It doesn't have the inventory and assortment of a full scale big box home improvement store, but it is more convenient and employees are much friendlier at these smaller places. Which is exactly what I experienced here. The outdoor cooking section is really something to behold with the vast assortment of spices and cooking stuff. Much better than a big box store in that sense. Give it a try.

We have been faithful, frequent shoppers at Ace for many years. We like the knowledgeable service and unique supplies. Today was the first time that we tried to return something. A power tool bought yesterday that was obviously defective. The 2 workers in the store were not at all helpful, actually rude and first refused to do a refund without a manager. Had to have my business partner leave work and come in the finish the return, totally unnecessary. With all the competition from Amazon and big box stores, this was a big disappointment. You lost our business.

Ok here's my thoughts... This is a very well staffed, stocked, and handi hardware store. Prices are high, BUT it's not Lowe's or Home Depot. I went in and was met by 4 smiling employees within 75 feet of entering. Was asked what I was looking for and taken right to it. Just like Everytime I go there. I sure wish they were paid more, because I have looked at Ace as a possible employer. Those folks are happy and not understaffed. So I'll keep going back.

With the helpful hardware folks, and paint, garden, bit and piece plumbing electrical hardware and specialty, lumber, plumbing, electrical, mowers, Stihl products, and very knowledgeable and helpful folks folks!
Plus it's more local than the big box stores.

I hate to write this negative review but I feel I need to. I purchased a 3 pack of lawn mower blades and a lawn mower wheel back in the spring. I work in another state and Im not home much so I never got a chance to change out the bad blade until today, 3 months later. The blades I purchased did not work on my mower so I took them back to ACE where I purchased them to exchange them for the correct ones. I couldn't find the receipt but I figured they could look up the purchase from my credit card. They told me they couldnt do the exchange without the receipt. So now I'm stuck with the wrong blades and they were double the price of Lowes Home Improvement. Lowes will also take the time to look up purchases by credit card for full money exchange even if it is a year later. Needless to say where I'll be shopping in the future. Lowes and Home Depot are 15 minutes further away but its worth the drive if Ace can't work with me. I only asked them to make an exchange for the correct ones and they were still in the original unopened packaging. I guess those $30 blades were worth losing my business.

Purchased some specialty paint. Didnt use for a week or so due to weather. When I went to use it I found it was mixed as wrong color. I understand special paints aren t returnable but YOU mixed the wrong color. Tried to remix and still wrong color. If YOU are unable to mix a correct color let me know and I ll go somewhere else before you mix it. If you dont mix correctly then should reimburse me. Paint isnt cheap. Very frustrating since they pride themselves on their paint service. Will never buy paint there again.

If you re going to ask your customers to take off their backpacks to shop in your store, then you should have the decency to watch their belongings. My husband was on his motorcycle and that s why he was wearing a backpack not to steal from you. To tell someone mid shop to put the backpack by the door or get out is ridiculous. Thankfully O Reilly s is right across the parking lot and has great customer service.

They may not have everything you want however if they do all you have to do is ask them and every employee knows exactly where every single thing is. Immediately when I walked in, I was greeted by a team member willing to help. I said no initially, but after failing to find what I need I went to look for someone to assist me. A man named Hank came up and was incredibly helpful. I described what I needed and he was more than happy to lead me straight to it. Incredible store with a fantastic staff, 5 stars isn t enough!

Ace usually has helpful staff. Their prices are typically a little higher than Lowe s and they don t always have what you need simply due to the size of their store. However, they are great if you have basic products for the home or garden. If you need something a little more obscure, I d call first to see if they have it.

I bought some Cabot stain from ACE in Norman and strained my fence and it was nice very nice and thought Id buy some more for my new back fence and well thats when the disaster started, it was the exact same stain but a different color right our of the can, I was so mad, but I talked to Hank who runs the Ace and told him what had happened and he took care of it, sure there was some questions and I expected that but he refunded my complete purchase, now thats not replacement of my fence because now I have a color that I dont like on my new fence, BUT HE DID WHAT HE COULD TO HELP AND IN MY EYES THAT IS A STORE THAT TRULY CARES ABOUT THE CUSTOMER, I WILL CONTINUE TO BE A CUSTOMER HERE AT ACE AND WILL ENCOURAGE EVERYONE I NO TO SHOP THERE, THANKS HANG FOR BEING A GREAT PERSON AND TAKING THE TIME TO UNDERSTAND HOW I FELT AND HANDLEDING THE SITUATION PROFESSIONALLY, 5 STARS

I had gone to Ace Hardware 3 weeks ago to buy a grill. When I got there I waited to get help getting a grill but no one helped. I started to leave the store when the manager stopped me. I told him I was going to Lowes to get a grill and he said heres one for $200 you dont need an expensive one. So I took him up on it and they delivered the grill. I got the propane bottle hooked up but it wouldnt start. I called the manager and said it wouldnt start so he had an employee come to the house and he couldnt start it.I worry all week and so that Saturday I called the manager again. He said hed call me Saturday morning have an employee come pick it up by noon. I didnt receive a call so I waited till 3 and called them back. The employee who answered said the manager was out and they knew about the situationand thought it had been taken care of. So the following I called the manager and he said leave the gate unlocked and they would pick it up if it didnt work or leave it there if it did. The grill was still there so I tried to start it it again but it didnt start. I even went to buy a new propane tank and it wouldnt start. So I given up. 3 weeks of frustration and losing $200 plus dollars. Dont deal with this store. Im going to Lowes to buy another grill.

Great staff when I went, there were these two young men named Gage Brown and Ian Froberg that were absolute gentlemen. I felt like I was apart of the ACE family. I do have slight beef with the store it self because I was not hired, but that behind us I just had a jolly good time indeed! Recommend this ACE and make sure to ask for Ian and gage for help!

The guys who work here are super helpful. The isles are so small though. The isle that is the busiest (hardware ie nails, screws, bolts, washers, nuts) is the narrowest isle and is ALWAYS the busiest which makes it very difficult finding what you need. Store merchandiser needs to try a new layout to accommodate. Other than that, good store.

An absolutely horrible place I buy a belt over a month ago still in package and everything else the worker tells me it will work well guess what he was wrong and now I can t find receipt this company is horrible I gave a number when I bought it this place is horrible they tell me they can t give me a size bigger but you guys are the one that said it would fit on my mower wow horrible people period

This is my go to for metric nuts/bolts. They also have the best selection of plumbing fittings and their prices, unless you are a contractor, beat Locke Plumbing an incredible amount. The counter lady was so helpful.

Everytime I have needed something and do not feel like driving across town to a Big Box Store, I stop in Ace of Norman. It is conveniently located near my house, the prices are great and the staff is super friendly and helpful. They are my first stop for things I need to make minor repairs around the house!

Parking was up front. We were not greeted when we came in nor asked by any employee if we needed any help. Had to track down an employee who was very dismissive. Not out right rude of voice but close. And the body language said I dont have time for you and your questions. Left without making a purchase. Went to Lowes and Home Depot where the staff seem to care and are friendly.

Their inventory was low and disorganized for what we were needing. There was no lock on the womens restroom door so my husband had to stand guard. The staff was friendly and they applied coupons we werent expecting so it balances out.

June 26th I visited 12:15 I had very bad experience, untrained staff & they dont know about there stuff. I needed just one screw employee trying to find but failed and I went to counter leave my sample and I told him I will come back after 10 minutes plz get that screw. So when I came back he didnt, he tried to find employees but there were no one , I thought they were sleeping. Then I leave the store. Next I will not visit this store.

I enjoy going to Ace Hardware located at 1209 Alameda St. My husband always goes after what we need but I ALWAYS go after a certain new tool for my toolbox. They have all kinds of new things that I always have to have. They have seeds for the garden, they have so much of goodies that other stores do not carry. I enjoy shopping at Ace Hardware quite often!!

Management is untrained, poor, inexperienced, and non customer focused. Its Iike you push a button on a kiosk and wait on the press 1 for english button. All i wanted was a key cut, after the third visit i gave up and went to Moore. Simply not worth the hassle. I keep trying this place only for disappointment every time.

I had the most unusual thing happen to me today at my local Ace Hardware. I was told a gift card, that was bought specifically for Ace Hardware was not accepted there. I was treated like I was attempting to exchange goods with the currency of the poors, like a temporary check or something worse like an American Express card. The workers were very friendly as they told me to get lost. I was told by corporate that I could purchase goods online and pick them up at the store. If I wanted to buy stuff online I would check out the up-and-coming start up company called Amazon. I will not be blessing Ace Hardware with my presence for the foreseeable future. The only way for the owner/manager to make this right would be for them to offer compensation in the form of a gift card. Oh wait... nevermind.

They are a smaller store. They have the essentials but dont expect to find everything as you would in a larger ace. The staff are absolutely wonderful and helpful in every way. Better quality merchandise than at Walmart so its a bit more expensive but worth every penny. Check them out!

Dont shop here, the workers are not that helpful. Cashier opened a box of screws I had then wanted me to put them back when it was what I needed, didnt fall for that. Also need help no one came to my aid. The aisles to tight you almost touching each other back to back and that not good during a time of Covid. This was my second visit thought Id give it another try but just as worse as the first visit. I went to Walmart and got the help I needed and what I wanted.

I love this type of hardware store, weird they always have had the one product available on the shelf, where as, that of most larger type of hardware stores ,offen dont carry . Very specific parts and nut and bolts. Etc. Yes its true, for over 23 years as a handyman worker, I found my self using their services over larger department like shopping services. Ending with this statement, its the employee that companies needs the most, this company has found great people . So they get a five star for all the above and so much more. Everything is too expensive.$2.50 keys had made and they dont work and I cant get them out or stuck thats Ace.
