C-A-L Ranch Stores

Not anymore, I will shop online or go up to Ace that's just up the street, from now on. I have been spending my money here for the last 3 years, several thousand dollars per year.
Went to buy a pair of Georgia boots today, looked at Georgia boots website for reviews of different boots. Found that the manufacturer had a 20 percent discount going on for a week. I took my boots to the check out. The cashier was very friendly and said they do price match and called for the manager to ok the sale. I have never price matched or used a coupon on my life. After waiting a while for this manager, she informed me "not so nicely" that no way would they price match it. That it was below their cost and they would only price match a brick and mortar store. I asked if I found a brick and mortar store, would she price match then. She said no, that it was below her cost and the price is what it is. Asked the manager" if she could help with customer appreciation or any type of discount for buying at Cal Ranch and my time for going through this. She shook her head and said nope, I asked her even 5 bucks off would persuade me. She rolled her eyes and I started walking out, employees were watching and one said " sorry" the other employee by the door said " she's so wrong" as I walked out the door.
First, I have a family member that used to work at a different Cal Ranch, she informed me that the mark up on Georgia boots is between 30 to 55 percent of the cost.
Second, I get that the manager is there to make profit for the store and don't really care about her lying. But I wasn't rude or even unnice, and there just isn't any reason to be short and blatantly demeaning with tone of voice and rolling of eyes with customers for asking.
Third, if the employees are saying sorry for the manager that says allot right there.
Fourth, this is what is happening in America, and partly what's wrong, making people not want to deal with people in real life and pushing them to shop via online. Because of one or 2 experiences with a manager that needs customer service training or not a to service the public.
Fifth- silver lining, just ordered the same boots from Georgia boots and saved $53 and free pair of socks for "CUSTOMER APPRECIATION".... This really wasn't about money to me, just plain old customers service and kindness.

I was having trouble finding a safe in stock that was on sale and I ended up locating one in the Draper store I live in Kaysville. I asked if there was any delivery options and they said no but then they called me back and told me that the manager would be willing to put it in his truck and drive to Layton since he had to go drop something off at that store anyway. This is a 650 pound safe. He even offered to Drop It at my house, which is on the way to Layton. I was amazed this is definitely next level customer service. I’m not sure what his name is, but I would definitely recommend buying whatever you buy from Cal Ranch Draper.

I've always bought my Wranglers from Cal Ranch including extra pairs. In the past they have allowed me to exchange new jeans if I needed to swap sizes, no receipt needed for an exchange.

This time they said no way, even for an exchange. These are brand new jeans and one of the most popular sizes, I know that because they sell out all the time, which is one of the reasons I buy extras!

Amazing Ranch store with variety of supplies. Stuff’s are super friendly and helping us find what we need (even got us a discount for slightly teared bag of chick feed) They always carry these cute chicks and heard rabbits are coming mid summer :)

I just wanted to thank Joni and the entire staff at the Draper Utah Cal Ranch, everyone there treats us like family. It’s old school cool like how folks used to treat each other. The selection and prices are excellent but the employees are why I choose the Draper location!!!

This is such an awesome store. The people that work here are all very kind and helpful. I always feel welcome and at ease. Good layout with tons to look through. Good prices too. My biggest shoutout is to the weapons counter. Ray went above and beyond to mount my scope and I was not disappointed. One round at 50yrds with a muzzy right on target. No bore sight. Couldn’t be happier. Zero’d to 100 in 4 total shots. Great work Ray.

One of the worst establishments I’ve ever tried to give business to, and I’ll never try again! I hate giving bad reviews, but this is a horrible spot I’ve never been so disrespected or felt so unimportant by employees in my life! Spoke with the manager Wes and he did absolutely NOTHING! I bought a Fan for Horse’s stall, within 24 hrs the fan blade wasn't working at all, I came into the Draper store and they told me that is not guaranty in Fans………. Very Sad

Go to the Draper store! They didn't stop looking to they found what I needed. Zane was the best! Everyone was so friendly. I will be going back to this location instead of West Jordan for all my backyard farming needs!

Absolutely love this store. The associates are so friendly, the merchandise is well thought-out, and everything seems to be in stock. A kind man (I didn't get his name) made sure a dressing room stayed open for me for almost an hour and a half while I tried on jeans to find the right pair. Curtis at the front is always so friendly and kind, and he remembers you when you come in! The men behind the gun counter were prompt and helped me find everything I needed, and were so kind to my 8 mo. old daughter when she was being a bit fussy.
Such a wonderful store, I don't think it could get any better!

I am usually a huge fan of Cal Ranch. Prior to this experience everyone has always been so nice and helpful.

The cashier today named Tyik was rude, and argumentative. We were buying pet food that was a managed special at 80% off. It rung up for regular price, and I told him that is not correct. I also asked where the 80% was on the reciept. He told me that it was correct and that was the price. I started to walk away, and decided to return the food because I could purchase it cheaper elsewhere since it was not 80% off. Someone overheard our conversation and nicely butted in and corrected the cashier and fixed the price.

I also noticed the person in line before us wanted help getting a bag of chicken feed to her car. He first said no, and then she stated how there was a lot of people around that could help her. He said “I guess..” and then finally asked for help on the walkie talkie.

I truly believe this cashier was not helping customers just to be lazy, The price required a manager override and calling for help required effort…

Everyone else has been great! Hopefully this employee can be retrained on customer service.

This is such an awesome store. The people that work here are all very kind and helpful. I always feel welcome and at ease. Good layout with tons to look through. Good prices too. For 50 years I have worn Levi 501 jeans. I went into Cal ranch and the manager had me try on some wranglers. When she didn't have the right size she went into the back room and brought back 3 pair. I have had them for a year now and love the pants.

I went back tonight and ask for some help finding my size. The employees were all up front in some kind of pow wow and now one really wanted to help me. After basically drawing straws The older man assigned the newest employee to help me.

I went to the pants section and showed her what I wanted and told her my size. She said that she didn't see any on the shelf. I asked her to go in the back and look. She said "we never have pants in the back room. She came back a minute later and said we don't have any.

Customer lost the same way I was found. Too bad the manager wasn't there to notice the lack of customer service.

I guess I'm off to amazon to buy my clothes. Brick and Mortar, you brought this on your selves.

My wife got a cowboy hat for her birthday. It was the wrong size. We asked the cashiers if we could exchange the hat for the correct size. We had a gift receipt. All the cashiers said yes. We get to the checkout line and the cashier needed help so he called over Gary, the assistant manager. Gary told us corporate won’t allow hat exchanges, even though we have a gift receipt that says we can. He told us that all the cashiers knew about the corporate decision. He advised us to sell the hat on our own. We called the West Jordan store and they said they would exchange it. We went there and exchanged the hat, no problem! We will be going to the West Jordan store or competitors from now on. Very disappointed.

The worst and most disrespectful shopping experience I’ve ever had in my entire life. Don’t really want to explain other than I got cussed out by an older employee for 5 minutes straight for messing up on my signature. Don’t shop here. Go to scheels instead.

We had a great experience here! Amazing deals and an extremely helpful staff. Blake went above and beyond to help us with anything and everything we needed. He even went out of his way to help us take some fence paneling we purchased all the way out to our car and on top. He was extremely accommodating and very kind. The store was clean and open. Definitely will be coming back!

As a rural landowner, I find the store resourceful, as a man it satisfies my testosterone demands, and as a husband it's nice to have a store where my wife can look at shoes and clothing while I go grab a post hole digger and apple wood chips.

The new draper store is a Great place ask for Sharon she knows that store inside out and she is very nice and funny. I was back in cal ranch they have some new people working there and I have had the luck of meeting the most rude nasty person in the whole world I believe her name was Bonnie Vinnie or Lonnie not sure but you can bet I will not be shoppung there if she is working I will wait and deal with Sharon or Judy or anyone who don't talk down to me or there employee's. Good thing she don't work with me because she would have 2 black eyes I feel for the others there. If you don't run into her great place

Just about everything I looked at there didn't have a price posted. There is an area with hats but no mirror to see what it looks like, so had to take a photo to see. Waterer and feeders for chickens were in boxes in the isle and I had to look through boxes to find the pieces that went together. They need to spend some time organizing the store. Otherwise they do have a large selection.

I knew this store moved in close to me. It took a minute for me to realize it was in the old Kmart building. I wasn't sure what to expect but it turned out to be great. It's like the other cal ranch stores I've been to it just looks alittle smaller and isolated from the outside but it's huge inside.. It's also very close to me. We'll definitely be visiting more often.

The Cal ranch store in draper has a wide variety of merchandise. I went to West Jordan store and they were out of stock. I went to the draper store and they were not busy, so they had what I needed. However, I know why they didn't have customers and had lots of stock. Their customer service was terrible. There was one man in the store and he went up to the guns and ammo counter. the attendant wasn't there, so they called him from the back room. He came out and the first thing he said was"what do you want"? The customer meekly told him and asked him about another product, which he replied "your going to have to ask the cashier" like he wanted to get rid of him as quickly as possible. I decided to see if I could find the product by myself rather than ask that clown. I finally decided to go ask one of the three cashiers that were standing around talking. After getting their attention, one of them decided to come over and help me. I asked them where the product was, and she said I don't think we carry that. I told her that the West Jordan looked it up in the computer, and said the draper store had it and give you the stock number. She said that doesn't help me, because our computer is down. She pointed me to the general section of the store, and said " if we have it, it's back of the store. Look down there on the back ailes of the store. ". I did find it, and took it to the cashier stand. Where one of the cashier's left the group to come over to help me. He acted like it really put him out for me to ruin his conversation and help me. I thought I will never go back to that store unless it is my last alternative.

This new location was great. Very roomy and things are spread out enough you don't feel shoulder to shoulder with people. I'm closer to another location but found this one by accident and it hasn't been open for very long. Very polite staff and helpful as well.

Sadly a wasted trip. Asked an associate for the price of some Slippers. No signs on the containers they were stored in. No original price on the item either. (Second Cal Ranch store I was at within a 24 hour period that had no price on the items.)No one knew what happened to the sign. Just several associates wondering out loud what the price was. Very unorganized. Going to go back to Smith and Edwards.

This is a brand new store (12-3-21). They are still stocking the shelves but are almost there. I walked the whole store. Great quality pet items. Propane fill up. Horse supplies. Clothing items. Safes. Toys for little ones for Christmas. Great hard to find candy by the registers. Great stocked up fishing supplies and some I had never seen before - and want to try out!, however, I wish they had some telescoping light rods. Rope, buckets, lots of various hardware and random things you may need for a garage or... a ranch! Winter is coming and I noticed they had warm clothing out. I have dealt with the cashiers a few times and they are very nice and get their job done, but yes, put the receipt in the bag lol, just my opinion. Thank you Cal-Ranch for a good experience and having what I needed so I didn't have to go down the road to another store : )

Just don’t know why.

It’s a mix of IFA, Ace Hardware, and Sportsman’s Warehouse or The K-Mart that use to be there.

I did’t see competitive margins. In fact they are 10-30% more expensive on their Milwaukee and Dewalt tools compared to Home Depot. I know 0 about Tack so couldn’t compare pricing on that to IFA. Gun and ammo selection and pricing is boring, but that reflects the current situation.

60lb. Pet food vault was $20 more than Costco, I only because I just got 2 at Costco last week. One for snow salt and one for dog food. Maybe not a fair price comparison as Costco won’t stock the pet food vaults and only had the largest size. CAL had several sizes.

It’s closer to home which is nice but Ace Hardware is closer, albeit not by much. Ace filled the quick trip to the hardware store need.

I don’t see myself going again. IFA, ACE, and Home Depot fill the needs of what I would go there for.

It’s worth noting if your a CAL Ranch loyalist it’s nothing to the scope of their West Jordan location. Much smaller and only carries more premium options.

But I’m glad they’re there. Maybe they’ll start watering the lawn again.
